'Silvio Berlusconi, Former Italian PM, Dies Aged 86'
Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has died aged 86.
Berlusconi, who led four governments between 1994 and 2011, had been treated for a lung infection in April.
He led the centre-right Forza Italia party which went into coalition under Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in September 2022.
Before entering politics, Berlusconi owned a vast media empire, and his time in politics was beset by sex scandals and corruption allegations.
He died at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, according to Italian media.

Italy has gone through 30 years of economic stagnation. Unserious politicians like berlusconi have a played a big part in that.

Totally agree, there was really nothing good about this guy and he actively contributed, though not alone, to the overall degradation of culture and social standards in Italy. Definitely not a good testimony or example to remember. May God have mercy of his soul cause as a man I think he should be remembered in some grey and sad pages of xx-xxi century pages

Its a kind of shock for us Italians. I mean he was corrupted and definitely not the best man to have in power, but at least he tried to push for good results. I'll never forget for example the time he forced Bush and Putin to shake hands. Looking at where we are now, that was really wise.
