The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money case on Tuesday held the former president in criminal contempt over a series of posts on Truth Social that he said violated a gag order barring any attacks on jurors and witnesses.

@@christineengel5814 Fixed dollar amount fines are intentionally designed to be irrelevant to rich folks, so they're completely useless in compelling behavior of the wealthy. Courts do have other remedies to prevent open defiance of orders, but in Drumph's case, they have all been afraid to use them. There is a chance that higher courts might override stronger sanctions, but when trial court judges defer to that fear, Drumph is free to make an utter mockery of the whole system.
