This is why I fight. 43 years ago, my older brother died of his heart condition a year after his birth. Two years later my sister was born of a similar heart condition. She has been told from a young age to live cautiously, yet it hasn't stopped her from her pursuit to help people. For 18 years, she has helped thousands of people as a nurse, and raised two wonderful children, understanding the limited time we have to appreciate this world. She worked to become a RN, and rose to become the lead Nurse in charge of ER. She was on the front lines when the SARS outbreak happened in Ontario, and COVID was no different. She had people coughing into her face with an unknown illness, back when all of you used to call her a hero. The vaccines came and she decided against it because of the early signs of Myocarditis, and because she will need heart surgery in a few years. While we sat at home getting paid, she worked her 12 hour shifts. Then the mandates came. She was forced to leave because she would not comply. She expected life to take from her what she loved doing. She never expected it would be taken by fear, superstition, and political division. Unlike myself, she's always been aware of the fragility of life and has cherished it in a way I can only admire. She will always be my hero. Please, think of the thousands of others being told that they cannot be who they choose to be, in the life they have crafted for themselves.
Please, sincerely, thank your sister for me! She sounds like a truly amazing woman. My wife is also in the medical field. We have 3 young kids, our youngest has RSV, a respite condition that almost took her life. But my wife didn't miss a beat. Worked her a$$ off when people were coughing on, screaming and yelling at her and just being completely ungrateful that her and her team were there for those people in need. She still came home, happy to see our kids and me, and never took any of her anger, pain and frustration out on us. It truly takes a special kind. Stay safe. Choice sounds like a nice thing to have. But this has been murder. They would not allow early treatment in Canada, Trudeau was harder on it that in the US. Thousands have died as a result. COVID is a weird disease because the virus is complex, and the vaccine tech was complex. But the symptoms, like inflammation, are ho hum every day things, and are easily treated, if one is allowed to treat them.
So many good people have solid reasons for not flirting with the vaccines and potential side effects. People who would risk their life to care for someone. This is why Trudeaus comments about the unvaccinated are unacceptable.

Patients who became sick with SARS were quarantined, but typically Chinese, made ladders with their hospital sheets, jumped from the 2nd floor quarantine ward and went on with their lives, taking cabs, subways, going to movies and English classes etc. Some flew to Toronto were ill but didn't tell anyone what they had, nurses died because of them!! I was horrified because I had lived in Toronto, post Viet Nam war and worked at TGH. Great as Taiwan is the culture lets them down. BTW, they found that those cheap, flimsy. 10 cent masks do NOTHING. Doug Ford is a different kettle of fish, and he is getting played. I am not of the opinion, that as bad as the COVID response was in Canada, that we would have been better off had Wynn still been Premier. I think rather than being several points more sane that Quebec or NB, that we would have been worse. Ford is backing Trudeau's play, and he will be smeared for it. I just hung up on one of Ford's fund raisers, and I don't feel inclined to vote for Ford again. He is screwing his base, while helping Trudeau. The reaction to these protestors has devastated my faith in our government and our media. I'm fully vaccinated and have complied with every request over the last two years. I've lost my aunt and father to Covid so I definitely take the virus seriously. However, I still have sympathy for those who have struggled and been impacted severely - I'm saddened to see what our children have had to endure, or the businesses that have had to close, and the damage this pandemic has done to our society. What has really bothered me the most is how hateful and divisive people have become - and now to see and hear how our government has treated these desperate Canadians - to see Trudeau defame them and not even make an effort to speak with them. These protestors appear to have more integrity and humanity than the people I see criticizing them.

Dave Black, if you are in the UK you should be aware of the plans the NHS have for you going forward. These plans were outlined in 2019 and it's absolutely terrifying. It boils down to totalitarian rule over your lives using health as the scapegoat. As a serving Police Officer it angers me how our Prime minister dumped the hot potato onto our laps to make the Police look like monsters. First I want to say thank you for your honest reporting. We definitely need more honest news, and your right Justin Trudeau it a terrible leader. All he had to do was talk to the truckers and protesters and drop the mandates and everyone would have gone home. But he fueled the fire and continued to make things worse. I told my boyfriend every time Justin speaks he sticks his foot in a little deeper and soon he will chock himself, and he showed Canada how bad of a leader he is.

In a "nutshell" , yes! I'd like to add that the original sense of this quote was penned by Sophocles in "Antigone". Yet it had a more subtle meaning, roughly: What appears to someone as their 'doing something good', is in reality the seed of destruction, ie 'something evil', and will be the doer's downfall. The phrase as we know it has been narrowed down with many centuries of quotes. This truthful observation of human nature is most likely even older than when Sophocles incorporated it into his play. Sadly we are paying a high price to watch this one one unfold.

If they were only protesting for themselves it would have been treated the same way as the railway blockages. But it’s for everyone is why it has so much support.

As a Canadian myself, back when Junior stepped up to the plate, I have not voted in Canada. I wouldn't hire the guy to mow my lawn. (He wouldn't know how to start the thing) All he wants to do, is good at and is smart enough to do, is ski in the French Alps. He is absolutely no leader, can easily talk for a half an hour and say absolutely nothing and I am surprised that we Canadians and the rest of the world have not caught on to this utter waste of oxygen until now. First legacy media outlet (other than Sky News Australia) I’ve seen characterising the actions of Trudeau as despicable and unpopular. Bravo! The Freedom Convoy 2022 protest (which specifically seeks an end to all federal covid mandates, and is limited to Ottawa) has inspired countless protests around Canada and the world. Three weeks and four days ago I heard about it in Australia and I’ve been taking the time to watch live streamers on the ground, so I could see for myself whether in fact what Trudeau said about this “fringe minority” were true. My conclusion is Trudeau has nefarious motives and is in no way acting as though he is responsible for upholding Canada’s Charter of Rights. His ego is the biggest issue here. What a fool! The world is cringing! The world is laughing! The world is mobilising! All because of his ill advised response to a peaceful and lawful protest in Ottawa and because we can see how far his views are from what democracy means. With love and support from a Western Australian 🇦🇺
