I regularly go to a church that has altar rails up at the front of the church. I will say that most people do accept the host kneeling and on the tongue. But I do notice that a few people still will take it in the hand, and then give it to themselves.
I live in Tampa Florida and it took me years to find a Church that would allow me to kneel to take the Eucharist, most priest didn't even want me to kneel, some actually made me wait until the very end.
With malice they robbed us but growing numbers of young people are open to the traditional faith. I am 82 and I was there before Vatican 2. It delights me that the truth of what happened is being told and the return to faith and tradition is under way.

I grew up in the 60s & 70s. I had 1st Holy Communion before 1st Penance, I remember standing right around the altar with my Confirmation class for a class Mass. Back then, we thought that was cool. I always believed in the real presence, but this laxadaisical approach especially receiving in the hand and only bowing before the Eucharist took away from the real presence. As long as I am physically able, I will kneel before Christ the King and only receive on the tongue!!

I went to mass in Italy a bunch of times this past summer and worshippers there don’t even kneel anymore during the consecration of the Holy Eucharist and everyone are taking the Eucharist in the hand. I also noticed very few families and kids in churches. It is a dying church in Europe. Talk about poor of faith that the Vatican is not addressing.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Vigano is probably right, as usual, but it is not rocket science or a finding that needing AI. I attend TLM on Sundays and get by with a weekday mass or two with a novus ordo one, and my reverence is the same. However, I do live in a conservative diocese with a conservative pastor in my novus ordo parish where I think there are very few if any who attend mass and receive communion who do not believe in the real presence. The return of communion rails in some parishes is a welcome sign with communion on the tongue, but I have seen too many tongue misses and droppings by short or doddering priests with people standing and receiving it on the tongue. Also, I have to say that from my own memories of pre-Vatican II days, there were many things which needed reform, but alas leaving the changes to the clerics. It did lead to a lot of extremes and they weren't very good at it. As I learned in my relatively-short sojourn as a seminarian fixing things a summer camp for priests, it was always best that they buy the heavy-duty model.

Real presence was not accepted for 1,215 years after CHRIST and only by the pope and not voted on by the forth lateran council of 1215 because most did not agree with real presence. I do like Vigano but I think this is going to far. There is no biblical command to receive the communion on the tongue. Plus thanks to Vat II we can have the cup which we couldn't have for 800 years.
