I was one of you who was struggling with feeding my daughter from breast directly from day 1. One and a half month I had to pump and feed her from bottle as she wasn’t willing to work hard and latch on my nipple when she could easily have from bottle. Yes pumping every 2 hrs increases your milk supply but you should keep trying atleast once a day to try and feed your baby directly from breast. Baby’s saliva sends strong signal to your brain for exact milk composition that baby needs for growth. That’s what I did. One day she suddenly started having it directly from breast and now she absolutely dislikes bottles which I don’t know is a good thing or not.

My wife had similar issues. My son was born with low birth weight so we couldn't wait for her milk and had to give him formula initially. That's why there was always a gap between her supply and his demand. After coming home, we started supplementing him with formula with bottle while my wife worked on pumping. There we made the first mistake. Instead of using a cup which nurses used, we used a bottle because it was convenient. Fortunately we found a good lactation consultant and because of her we could switch to exclusive breastfeeding in 2-3 weeks. 1. Never feed the formula if your baby is born with weight more than 3kg. Breast Milk supply will take time and that's okay. Baby will lose weight for 7-8 days and regain all the weight by 14th day. Keeping feeding every 2-3 hours. 2. If you have feed the formula, don't use the bottle. Most latching issues are caused by bottle feeding. Proper latching is a skill which both mother and child has to learn by trying. Bottle feeding destroys the chance for baby to learn. Feed with a cup(like nurses) or use a NG tube(suggested by our LC). Insert one end in baby's mouth and one end in the bottle and feed from your breasts with proper latch. This way the baby gets a chance to learn to latch along with getting the supplement feed that you give him. 3. Pump after every feed (at least 6-8 times). Don't be disheartened if you are not pumping enough milk. The idea is to empty your breasts so that your body produces more and more milk. If it's getting hectic, you can just pump for 10 mins and keep the parts in a fridge and then pump next time using the same pump. No need to wash pump again and again if your baby is normal weight (for premies you have wash and sterilise each time). 4. Work on latch and position at every feed. This is the key. It will take time but once you fix it, your life gets much easier - baby gets all the feed in 10 mins. No pumping no formula and no bottle.

Exactly my situation. I lived with this guilt of not able to breastfeed my baby for several months and my husband kept saying the same thing 'what matters is you are giving Mother's milk, many mother are not able to do that also, so be happy and content'. Can completely relate to this.

I have also went through this pumping journey till 3 months due to latching issue... but after that my baby grows & good head control and latching issue was resolved.... so now am doing both breastfeeding.. ebm.. and substitute with formula as well as she is 6 months her demand has increased... keep doing mama.... every mum is great.. 👍

I watch all videos and follow the comments on them. And i remember how several followers were so fussy about this issue... I think this is such a well-balanced video that talks about both the facets of feeding a child. Why do we create so much fuss about breast/bottle feeding beats me. I think momcom has done a stupendous job in addressing this issue. I have d same opinion. Feeding a child through bottle does nt make any one less motherly as those who breastfeed. It varies from body to body so far d child is healthy happy and well fed. Also, i believe a lot of it also depends on the support system and if u have people who respect a mother's physical limitations. Then solutions can be figured much easily. Hi Mansi, u reminded me my situation. My boy was underweight so he couldn't latch properly. We ( me n my husband) tried for 1 month but he couldn't. Then i gv bottle to him with my breastmilk , he was so satisfied n stopped latching totally. This period was so depressing as people around u don't understand wats going on. My motherin law used to say dudh nhi aa rha, but later on she also understood the thing . N appreciated me for not giving up. And Husband's support is so important in such situation and i m the lucky one to hv it. He is also Saurabh.😊😊and later i was blessed with access supply bcoz of pumping and i got the opportunity to donate breastmilk. 😊😊

I have exactly same situation but luckily I have been able to provide enough breastmilk for my Bub after a week of delivery. However my baby don’t always like latching so I have to pump as well. The most annoying part is people don’t understand and simply says that baby become lazy as was expressed feed since birth.

Soak 2 table spoon fenugreek seeds overnight + coconut milk 2glass + jaggery . grind it & cook it like gheer as per your taste and consistency . this tip worked for me. Very informative and motivating topic chosen.. i too had to pump and bottle feed my baby as she was born premature and had to be kept in NICU, plus weight gain was also a concern that time, and i can understand the stress and overhead of this indirect method. In my family or society, this was the first case, so i had to go through a lot of stress and pressure that time, but i never gave up and kept pumping and feeding regularly, plus tried to create a bonding with baby and kept encouraging her for direct latch, initially she used to reject and cry her heart out, but gradually it worked with perseverance and patience and when she turned 6 months, she was able to latch properly. So this was my journey, and trust me it was very difficult and full of stress. You have given a great message to all the new moms that do as per your situation a nd dont take stress about anything.. you are blessed and powerful being a mother😘

Very true, even I had done combination feeding to my son and I think this is the best decision I had taken , it helped me to keep my baby happy and healthy. Initially there was a supply demand mid match though I tried my best he was not full and it is most important to see your baby is fed properly and is happy… After starting job it became extremely easy for me to wean him off and he loves his solids and easily takes formula from bottle because He was used to. My husband can also help with night feedings from bottles now, so as a Working Mom I get some night rest which is v essential. I would request new mothers to be happy and remember mom & child is a team they work together hand in hand . Unnecessary social media pressure on breastfeeding should be avoided.

Absolutely true! I'm bottle feeding my breastmilk to my 3 months old LO! Same thing happened to me, in the early days of my child where he couldn't latch properly and eventually got used to bottle. I used to take so much stress thinking why he is not taking feed from and it also impacted my supply. Later when i realised and accepted the fact that, it is important to give him my milk nevertheless what ever the way it is.. it made alot of change in me, my supply and my baby has very good growth now!

Main bhi same situation mein thi. My baby is now 8 months. But my problem is ki Mera milk supply start se hi Kam hai. Main abhi sirf usko 20% hi de pa Rahi hu breast milk pump karke. I tried several things. Only one thing worked for me i.e. water intake. After increasing water intake, my milk went from 10% to 20%

I agree completely with your thought about bottle feeding as per the situation . The same situation was with me . I followed the same approach . Direct breastfeeding, pumping , and formula . Yes it is extremely important not to take stress . Pumping really helps to provide breast milk to babies . Time has changed and with the facilities like good pumps , providing breast milk to baby has become easier .baby feels satisfied and Mumma too 😊

True.... I fed my twins 100% breastmilk through bottles only, till 6 months. It was more convenient and i could provide breastmilk equally to both my babies.

Breast feeding creates a subtle bond between mother and child and exposes baby to good surface bacteria on the aerola. Bottle feeds exposes to harmful bacteria. Bottle fed babies has less immunity, tend to become obese later on. I know in some situations breast feeding becomes difficult,and the cause is mostly social. But please every mother should borne in her that they should breastfeed in any situation and do not use formula milk unless any medical condition# from doctor's view

I advice you to give only breast feeding. Not pumped out milk. The whole exercise of practice of breast feeding is lost. When you feed,breast feeding hardly any chance of infection., you develop bonding which is important you are missing the joy you get when they touch with tender hands, you like it. So go for real breast feeding., and another thing is bottle cleaning again n again in pumping and in pumping nutrients are also lost if it is stored for longer time. Please give breast milk directly from breast unless you have office and other important chores to do.

Hii Mansi, I gave my son direct breastfeed and expressed breast milk through bottle also , I found direct breastfeeding more comfortable,time saving and more joyful experience for both of us , Initially I also thought that my baby is not latching properly or I am not able to produce enough milk, then I started giving him formula alongwith expreesed breastmilk, I gave him formula only for 15 days then I started to learn through youtube videoes that how we can teach babies to learn latching, I practised daily for some time with my child without giving him stress and without being stressed myself, and after few days he learnt latching so well that I fed him easily, then I stopped formula and bottlefeed After that, my life become so easy, I had lot of time to play with my child and spend some Me time as well, apart from this direct breastfeeding is blissful in true sense, when the child latches and drinks milk from breast ,oxytocin and many other good hormones releases in mother's body which makes her feel even more happy and powerful , As your follower and as a mother , I would by heart suggest you that please try to teach Noor to latch and direct breastfeeding, As you already know babies are very smart, they learn everything so quickly, Above that, Mother Nature has designed babies to latch and have breastmilk At the end, its just my experience, Every mother has her own choice and I respect that, loads of love and blessings to u and ur family

How long did it take for you to increase the milk supply?

Bottle feeding - what we went through from day 1 1) You should pump at max 20 min not more than that 2) Sometime because of dryness or extended pumping unknowingly nipples get hurt and bleed that blood collects on bottle so it will be little hesitant to give that milk so that time that milk go waste and u need a very heavy heart to dispose that milk 3) Pumping and feeding u spend double the amount of time like usually baby finishes his feeding in one session after 15 to 20 min in breastfeeding but if u opt for bottle feed u need to pump 20 min and even with bottle baby takes around 10 to 15 min time to drink so around 30 to 40 min . So one day it works 1 month it works but for 1yr to 2yr it won’t and slowly ladies get into depression regarding how long I need to pump and then start stress and depression and attention to kid gets less and many more things 4) For a better flow and smooth pumping without getting hurt to breast u need to use very high quality pump which cost around 60 to 70k (in US) so everyone can’t afford . 5) Mark my word u cannot travel out as u cannot miss ur pumping session and for pumping outside like in airport or relative house or etc place need to be at most hygiene else kids stomach gets upset and if u miss pump session u start getting clots and supply goes down and stress starts and ufffh lot more And so on . So Father contribution is very much needed and he needs to keep motivating mom to pump , her mind set will not be as cool as in this video , pumping mom handling is a separate war altogether . And slowly from 7 times pumping it comes to 3 time in 6 month and supply goes down by 50% then stress and depression and pressure etc etc . Then we go for lactation cookies or flow increasing medicine or health dry food laddu again not every will afford . So Father is like gone case need to handle kid , handle job , hands wife and her postpartum tantrums and he should keep himself calm So my option if possible after 15 days or month switch to full time breastfeeding for a happy environment in home . And I have seen babies who had problems with latching or mom with supply issues everything everything trust me solved by 2 months and some baby latches at 3 month ages I have seen so try using silicone nipple shield to help with latching for all other moms who have this issue. Because I know how tough full time pumping is . By a well experienced father wrt to Pumping

Nai hora to then why....wo roti hain...phir main roti bethti hoon ke i am such a bad mother... Making her cry so much... Actually I started getting very bad itching all over my body 1 week after delivery... C section tha... Bottle dedi thi 3 days.. waise hi she wasn't latching. Nipple shield so hard i tried. Here in Europe, the midwifes always suggest the same way of approach while feeding baby. Important is baby is getting the breast milk and formula milk (incase needed) and the weight of the baby should not go down trend. Much appreciate your vlogs👍👍

Even I was also in the same situation di and your videos helped me a lot in those stressful mode of my life because that was my second pregncy and I could breastfeed my first child happily for almost a year and a half but my second child case was really different, he was not latching properly, I had nipple cracks, so finally after watching your wonderful videos I made a decision to bottle feed my baby with my breast milk, and yes it worked I could at least feed my baby with my breast milk upto 7mnths almost 70- 80% so I am happy tku so much aka for such helpful videos God bless your family keep posting

Same thing happened with me, I was so stressed that ultimately my supply reduced ...and I could only feed my LO for 4 months😔 still I regret for not using pump efficiently. My family members pressured me to feed directly, and when my LO couldn't latch, I would hand express or formula feed him..... I still felt guilty for that. But now after watching your video, it really came to me that all the guilt and regret was of no use.

I would be honest here. I was overwhelmed by the bf support groups, it was to some extent stressing since each one has a different struggles and there is no one method for all type. Adaptability is the key and I did just like you after I consulted experts and my close people & learnt I actually had lesser flow. Nothing against anyone but we are here to support each other rather than stressing out by giving high std statements. Thanks for sharing this. 🙂

I totally agree with u mere baby k sath b yehi hua 3 days in hospital usey bottle se formula milk diya gya n then latch karwane ki koshish kia toh wo kr ni paa rha tha fir mene socha important h ki baby maaa ka dudh piye ab wo kese b piye chahe breastfeed krey ya pump krke piye milega to usko maa ka dudh hi na toh ye jda important h.. Mene b yehi. Kyuki shuru me bhut stress. Me thi ki baby direct dudh ni pi rha tha.. Use dikkat ho rhi thi or wo bhuka rhe rha tha ye dekha ni jata.. Isliye pumping is good for me.. N baby also
