The story of BoF 3 was well done. Usually writing an overpowered character is hard to do because it's hard to make them somewhat interesting but they did it right with the way BoF3 was written. It was around the premise of how one should use his god like powers. Especially for it's time. I don't think any story has ever been written like BoF 3 at all after it's inception. It still stays as a cornerstone story of how to write an overpowered character correctly for me.
I always thought it was an interesting choice to make Ryu the Cleric in this game. It's usually rare for the main character to be the best healer in any JRPG, especially one that's based on the main character having transformation powers.
I tend to think of him more as a Paladin. He can use some of the best armor, and has solid HP, attack, and Def. Base Ryu is a healer with strong physical abilities.
33:20 Ryu Only gains agility every other level for most of the teens and 20s so if you're only using Giotto for 8-10 levels, you're probably only sacrificing 4-5 points of agility, which is acceptable and countered later by placing him under Deis
Very true, I'm honestly just lazy and don't like to micromanage levels to that detail. I've considered it but it's just a little bit more effort than I've wanted to put in.
25:45 Emitai is actually underrated for Ryu, I've used him for Ryu many times. I think Deis is the best for Ryu overall but a combination of Mygas, Giotto, and Emitai are great before that.

@theobsessivecompulsivegame9078 yeah watching your character build guild on ryu actually made me restart the game lol I'm pretty compulsive as well lol.i was the number 1 global in dragon age 3 inquisition for the Xbox 360. Their was another higher on the one then me but that game is all about stats. Ugh somehow that transitioned Over to breath of fire 3 thanks to you haha I appreciate it though be fun to have a save file for half the game with a 400 ap ryu. I'm keep all the beginner weapons and armors to have some limits on his human form same as dragon age I kept low hp stat so no matter how powerful my damage became I would always enjoy the game because I could actually die still lol
And then I can save state and fight the big bosses weak and hopefully really struggle a while then reload and OK Gooking sword into true kaiser Feel my true power! Stay back party just sleep it off I'll handle this one lol 😆 just nerdy with these little classics
I forgot to mention, attack is the formation I use. I also love to grind, like in all games and LP’s. My Ryu has almost 600 ap and I’m still grinding. Bell Collar is one of my favorite accessories.
I always thought it would be interesting if they did make a BoF3 remake and even added new characters. They probably kept it at that small amount of characters to develop them. But I wouldn't mind seeing some new hidden characters. If they did what would you think could be put in.
To get the Goo King sword, it's the LOCATION that matters the most. In the hall just before the final battle just after you are first greeted by Myria's servant girls, there are lighted directional arrows on the floor. This is where you find your Prize Goo Kings with their swords. First, you steal their apples to make them mad enough to stay and fight. Obviously, you are going to have to Charm, Pilfer, and Steal to get those apples. Once the apple is stolen, you have a fight on your hands and your battle becomes Charm, Heal, and Fight. You won't get the Goo King Sword every time but your odds of getting it go up.
I was able to get the GooKing Sword from the GooKing. I found not stealing from it gave me a better drop rate from it. All my characters are faster then it. One character uses Charm, and the others use Aura and Shadowwalker to finish it off. It will always drop the green apple and eventually the sword.
I'm kind of guessing all dragon forms aren't an increase from Ryu's human stats that they're separate characters? But is Kaiser form a direct increase from his human stats?
Yeah Intelligence and Agility are the most important stat, because there is no easy way to farm those items to raise those stats, unlike all the other stats.
Well, that is true, there is no easy way to do it. But if you setup 10-12 Copiers in Fairy Village and painstakingly go through and farm fish heads and Swallow eyes, to make up for any loss. There’s no nice way to get to 161 Agi without sacrificing all your other important stats and or farming Swallow eyes. Fish head farming is more important if you actually want to break the game with Magic. I recommend anyone throw an extra 60 swallow eyes and 60 fish heads in Ryu and raise him only under Ap/Int masters and watch the end game fireworks. It’s quite satisfying. The same CAN actually be done to Garr and is also, quite fun. He has the best Spell callouts and a really cool spell animation. But you’ll also need to farm Magic Shards too for him or he won’t perform right.
I actually think there was a reason to make Ryu have both dragon forms and be the best healer. Aside from the amount of power modding done to him you can only choose to be a dragon or a healer, in a way you can see it as choose good or evil. You become a healer to help your friends or you become a dragon to kill everyone. Ah ha you didn't think there was some kind of moral standing behind his abilities did you? Your AP can only be used for one thing and AP is very limited so that decision really takes stakes.
Correct but not easy to farm unfortunately. You'll want to save any you get until you can develop the fairy village and copy them. The drop rate from enemies is extremely low.
0:28 Ryu is overpowered in all of these games. The only game where he's not the best character is II (well, and 6 but...), and that's because Deis is even more absurdly overpowered than he is, he's still the second best character there though.
Haven't played 6 myself. I think the last one was 4 which I did play recently but I just couldn't really get into it. 3 is just such a solid game it's hard to improve on.
@@theobsessivecompulsivegame9078 6 was never released outside of Japan and the servers were taken offline about 2 years later. I tried to play it once but my Japanese wasn't really good enough to stumble my way through it. IV is okay but has aged pretty poorly though it does have some of the best sprite based graphics on the PSX. V is really good though, easily the best in the series and really one of the greatest JRPGs of all time. I've cleared that one 11 times. V has unique gameplay elements that add a lot of strategy and challenge to the game that was unlike anything really seen in JRPGs before or since. I absolutely love that game. If you've never played it before it's definitely worth a try.
Is the Accuracy on D'lonzo permaenent? So if you gain a level under D'lonzo you get a permaenent increase in accuracy? So if Garr is 90% hit chance and under D'lonzo gains 10 levels is he now at 100%?
@@bizznick444joe7 I can't say for sure because I don't know how those specific skills work. I don't know if they give a flat % decrease from base hit rates or if they are just completely randomized.
@@theobsessivecompulsivegame9078 I didn't know about aggro/threat mechanics in RPGs until later but I wonder if skills like Unmotivate, Feign Swing, Bad Back has any involvement in those. Also does Counter make you counter every hit the entire battle or just for one turn? Would be practically useless if it makes you counter for one turn because you could be spending that 1 turn just attacking.
@@bizznick444joe7 Unfortunately there are no threat mechanics in BoF so Unmotivate and Bad Back are useless, Feign swing is at least useful for training Beyd. Counter has to be used every turn so it's pretty useless as well. Peco at the front of the attack formation can use counter to some benefit but you're better off doing other things.
