Nice tier list. I love BoF. It was one of the games I owned on the SNES and as close to a Final Fantasy game as we could come over in PAL land without adaptors for US cartridges. Pet peeves: Ryu, is pronounced R-you, not Rayu. It's not Angie, its Agni, AgNi.
I do think it's neat and somewhat realistic that while not every character is as strong as the other, they all contribute something important to the party (story wise and gameplay wise) and can still fight alongside the legends via fusion (except Mogu but he was never really a fighter to begin with).
I Agree 100%. I you missed a few things about Ryu and one thing about Karn but everyone else is pretty spot on. I wouldn’t change there places tho. You missed another broken thing about Ryu is that when he has a dragon form he can just fight until he’s about to die then gets changed in to a dragon form as the first attack get all his health back and get an attack and defense boost. Karn gets the same first attack to fuse in a battle and get all his health back.
BoF2 would be neat tier list wise. Stuff like teaching cure 2/life to a single party member, chop chop, and township can alter how useful some party members are alone on it. And stuff like finding Ryu's dragon transforms in between his story forms, how his mp system works with them to the point where the game punishes you if he gets more than 100mp, and when easy you find Deis making other characters not needed but the game having events that force your hand to use some characters at some point can affect it as well.
Your tier list is similar to mine S Tier: Ryu,Karn A Tier: Blue B Tier : Nina C Tier: Bo,Ox D Tier: Wing Soldier 1, Wing Soldier 2 E Tier: Old Wing Soldier F Tier: Mogu,Gobi My end game Team was always. Ryu,Karn,Blue & Nina
Mogu has a niche use: he can use Dig in battle to escape 100% without even giving anyone else a turn. Seriously, the moment you select it, the fight end.
Soldier 1 and 2 give me ptsd. Breath of fire was the first turn based rpg I played when I was a wee lad, so I didn't have a concept of using items/spells etc to heal. Not to mention BoF uses the weird pictogram which at the time to me looked like a ball going through a croquet hoop. So I spent hours(like 10) with them and Nina, grinding and healing in front of the fountain until I could beat all the bosses of the area with just attack alone.
Mogu arrived too late to have any usefulness. He should have arrived alongside Bo to at least be a good physical attacker. Oh welll, i guess my suggestion wouls be the other BOF games!
Soldiers 1 and 2 got done dirty. Sacrificing yourself so others can make a desperate escape? Easily a legendary move. Soldier 2, while not quite as directly self-sacrificial, essentially replicated Pheidippides run from Marathon to deliver vital news, a feat equally so legendary we named long races after his run. Factor in they're basically as strong as Ryu at the time and it's crystal clear they belong there
Yea, I was thinking about that...I said something like...Karn's forms are hard to find...which is true, but it's not like Ryu's forms are easy to get...I guess they're just not missable...where as you could miss all of Karn's forms pretty easy.
karn IS legendary. karn should have the bleaj theme and bleu the dragon shrine/wisdon theme. karn can hit triple 9 so bleu damage is still lower than karn's plus he can counterattack
I always used Hero, Ox and Nina. Barely used Karn. As the downside with all transformations: If the Characters dies by whater instant deathspell, the player is stuck with a weakass thief. No thanks. Bow was simply not tough enough for the endgame.
I mean you really only have 3 characters to pick from. Ryu and Karn are practically mandatory if you're going to most powerful characters. Then you just have to pick from Nina, Bleu, and Mogu for the other 2 party spots.
@@wallsofjerich0 It's best games. Please play. I see you love one but both games have some to put a shame first game. Even ports for GBA better than original of 1 and 2.
