Agreed. Such a powerful game. I remember showing my girlfriend Breath of Fire 3 for the first time, the dungeon preceding this moment is so long and strenuous, she was pretty tired and ready to stop, but then we teleported into this chamber with the dragon symbols on the walls, we perked right up, and as we exited to see Dragnier for the first time and everyone comes to see you, we were like, "Woah..." - truly a masterpiece.
lots of the songs are compelling, but yeah this one is really great. You GOTTA listen to this song if you like dedicated to dragons. Its from another game "Shadow Hearts: Covenant" and its equally beautiful. Its got the same melancholy vibe. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cU1Z5UwBlQo.html
A neat bit of subtext in the game is that Dragnier has no children in it. Not one. It's a neat way of showing without telling that the Brood's situation is dire, and Ryu is the last hope of their race.
Best song in the entire game. Probably the most dynamic. It builds off an ominous tune and almost sounds optimistic/jovial after a point, and the way it flows is like a wave of emotion. Amazing
I thought this track fit the history of The Brood VERY well. It captured both the greatness of their heritage, as well as their sorrows like you said, but also the undying hope that the "Dragon Prince" would come to Dragnier.
Ah, the memories just wash over from this game. Played it when I was 13, now 10 years later I can still recall every memorable awesome scene from this epic game. This was from an era back when games actually taught you important lessons in them instead of being just a mish mash of flashy graphics.
I always loved this game and its music as a kid. But now as an adult, this song makes me cry just thinking about it. Its kinda bizarre. I was spoiled, I thought games would be this good forever, only get better in fact. Man, I was so wrong.
Corporate greed ruins everything. But as long as people like us keep the past alive and remind people of what games once used to be, eventually we will have good games again.
@@MightyMemeKing its hard to win against the money machine. We are quickly loosing the economic surplus that gave these artists the creative freedom to make something that didn't need to be a success for them to stay afloat. That age is gone now. Getting it back is going to take more than just showcasing its merits. Sadly. At this point my hope is the whole entertainment industry will become so unbearable the whole thing will collapse and people can start fresh without the same restrictions required now to turn a guaranteed profit.
The goddess of destruction Myria, feared their power so they were exterminated in the war known as the Great War. They were defeated because many of them did NOT fight back, because they knew their power would destroy the world. The few who did fight were eventually defeated. The ones who gave up their power went to Dragnier with Jono(old man with Kaiser dragon) and waited for Ryu to be born. That does not really make sense to me but it worked by avoiding a huge war between the dragons and the world.
@@youtubeherolevel7689 It really reminds me of the subplot involving Palet and the Mutant plant. If you really think about it, that Mutant plant symbolized the Brood and Palet symbolized Myria. Palet trying to revive his wife was like Myria trying to control the world, holding onto something that she should not be trying to interrupt the natural processes of.
@Thurwocket I find it sad and depressing: Its like its saying;look at the dragon civilization:Once a great empire roaming freely, sure they took it too far and tried to destroy humanity(bof1) then those dragon slayers came and fought us,we refused to fight back and they killed most of us and now hardly any of us are left and we are forced to flee and hide.
This is in the top 5 best video game songs to have ever lived. I just realized today that the first world map music is based on this and the instruments in the later part of this song sound like the world map theme, but I can not notice if the songs share any notes in that part.
That part that starts @1:20 gives me chills… makes me imagine ghosts of the Brood reenacting scenes of a happier bygone era, living joyfully in Dragnier, before they were driven to extinction
I literally just did that a few days ago. Well beating it that is. For the first time since I never owned the game myself. I watched a friend play it before 10 years ago.
If I am not mistaken, when you go in the faerie colony and make the music shop, this song is called "For the Dragons (main theme)". Possibly you are confused with overworld theme, as that is a different song of course. Great ost regardless though.
