Breath of the Wild: Guardians Theory 

You know, it's honestly impressive how much of the plot you were able to figure out just by _looking_ at things. It really shows just how good the visual storytelling and attention to detail in BotW is.

makes a ton of sense that Ganon has corrupted the guardians, he's done massive corruptions before like in ALTTP when he corrupted every single castle knight and turned their hearts evil.

I think you are spot on! The Guardians were made by the Sheikah to combat Ganon, but his magic turned them against the people of Hyrule. Can't wait to face that absolutely enormous one on Death Mountain... Someone had an awesome idea that it might serve as a dungeon and we'd have to enter it and destroy its core!

The patterns on the guardians actually sort of reminds me of the pattern on minda's mask and patterns in the twilight realm from twilight princess

I think them being called "Guardians" was a pretty big tip-off considering what we know of the Sheikah. Also I never got the vibe that they were actually evil. Dangerous and intimidating, but definitely not evil. It just kind of seems like an obvious twist that this super scary creature would actually have a benevolent origin. Definitely something a Zelda game would pull.

I hadn't even made the connection between the pink awoken guardians, the orange shrine guardians, and Calamity Ganon myself. I think your prediction is spot-on. You are correct that the guardians are sheikah tech. I think the pink energy means Ganon's evil magic is controlling them. If Link can break that magic, perhaps the guardians would protect him. I doubt it but just an idea. I haven't watched the video yet so not sure if you are gonna say that.

The story of breath of the wild is one of my favorite stories ive ever experienced. I love it not because its deep or necessarily profound or pioneers modern fantasy, but because of how it implicitly lays out the history and impact of the calamity through just playing the game. No other piece of fiction, especially video game, has me as deeply invested in the world as breath of the wild did. It felt like a real world that you were saving, that goes through real turmoil and lived through very real tragedy. From the moment your shoved out onto the great plateau you are faced with an environment utterly decimated by Ganon, with crumbling infrastructure so cluttered with debris and beaten with the elements you cant even begin to imagine that a century ago this was likely the most important religious centerpiece and gathering place in the entire kingdom. Running through the world and especially Central hyrule, the decay of civilization is staggering. Every destroyed shack or crumbling wall represents the loss of lives and livelihoods. The game perfectly lays out the story through your interactions with the world in a way that doesn't require narration or even a compelling plot to feel like it means something, which I much prefer to more linear storytelling styles of previous zelda games. Even though TotK does nearly everything better than breath of the wild, it absolutely cannot beat the implicit environmental storytelling which makes Breath of the Wild shine.

Would you agree the Guardians have a beyond normal focus on Link? They've honed in on him in every footage we've seen of them; even in the original trailer, the Guardian bypassed the farmers to go straight for Link. It's possible the Guardians either associate Link with the Royal Family due to his weaponry or clothes, or Ganondorf sent them specifically after Link (which could explain the cutscene near the end of the newest trailer). Either of those reasons would explain why Link feels the need to hide his face. In fact, Link isn't wearing the hood in the new E3 footage where he's being chased by the Guardian, so it may have recognized him due to that.

Have you noticed with that scene of Link on horseback, running from one of those Guardians, it takes out the Bokoblin also chasing Link? They don't seem to be concerned with whether or not something is one of their "allies", so much as whether or not something is "alive".It could just be Calamity Ganon who now seems to only want to see the world burn instead of at its knees, or it could be a SKYNET type situation where the goal is to eliminate all organic life

Fantastic new video i really enjoyed the video and I never knowtest the guardian on death mountain before and I thought there mite be a connect between ganon and the guardians but I wasn't sure what the connection could be but when you said about the same ppink energy that's on the guardians is the same colour of the energy on ganon That made the connection clear and agree with you about ganon turned the guardians evil and used them to destroy everything and keep up the fantastic and brilliant videos as you always do

I was just replaying tphd last night when I got to the part where Midna uses the fused shadow to break into the castle barrier. I've always thought her to be based on a spider, however it occurred to me the fused shadows could be an attempt to be an organic guardian. what caused the mind shift is the fused shadows have the circle and line pattern mentioned in this video; making the sheikah-twili connection much more plausible.

Since there are many guardians around the Temple of Time, I think they were attacking it 100 years ago, and something/someone froze time (just like the Sheikah Slate does with the Stasis Ruin) in order to protect the temple and maybe something inside it... Then it remained like that during 100 years. That's the impression it gave to me when I saw the gameplay...

That same raised pattern is also in Midna's helmet and Zant's armor. I have a feeling the Sheikah and the Interlopers will somehow come out to be related somehow in some game.

The markings on the "Fused Shadow" that Midna wears in TP looks similar to the swirling markings on the guardians as well. Any connection do you think?
