I just started swimming a couple months ago and I've been trying to find the most efficient way to swim before training for a triathlon. I stumbled across gliding a couple days ago trying to swim the laziest 500 I could. I tried it on a 100 and it literally shaved 30 seconds off of my 100 time instantly (2:00 down to 1:30, I'm slow) and made a 500 feel like a cake walk. I appreciate you breaking down your movements and breathing, this gives me a lot to practice! I'm looking forward to competing in my first triathlon even more now!

Busy days at the lake this summer, keep having to stop to make sure I am not about to collide with someone.. I should have worked on this sighting skill earlier-- today's the day! Don't think I'll be able to emulate the amazing, efficient, hypnotic rhythm in the video, but will try. I've never just looked forward, my joint issues mean I get a sore neck instantly, doing that.

hi Adam, I have been through all the videos. Great work. i cannot explain, but your tip about closing the mouth after exhaling made a huge difference. the semi circular recovery was the solution for a friend to return swimming. I live in Florida(Jupiter east coast). Do you have plans to do some camping near by here?? Thank you for your excellent work. kind regards, William Chohfi

Adam, love your videos!! The one describing your breathing pattern solved a 2 years problem and give me an opportunity to work on the rest of my stroke!! A quick question about Roll-Kick sequence. This video says: Roll-Kick-Pull. In another one you said that the Kick triggers the Roll. So technically which is which: Roll-Kick or Kick-Roll? Thanks
@jimsumara6605
@jimsumara6605 3 года назад
Thanks Adam. You make it look so easy and effortless. When the timing is right, my swimming is noticeably easier but lately my hips get stuck and fall behind and the timing is off. Also, I get the feeling of being out of breath and then there is no chance for timing to be right as everything is hurried to breathe. How do you recover your timing and get your hips “un-stuck”?

One point is how to avoid occasional snaking while rotating, due I think to wrong timing of the foot flip and/or related heap rotation. Most diffucult part I found in this exceptional technique is the right foot flip.

Great video. I watched a few from you now and they are excellent. You seem to swim with quite a bit of catch up. You don't initiate the pull until after the other arm has entered the water again. Any reason for this?
@adamwalker32
@adamwalker32 Год назад
Its due to the mechanics of waiting for the hip to drop one arm has to pass the other In the process.
@Salvati62
@Salvati62 Год назад
Looks like you induce an asymmetry on the left stroke lifting slifhtly the head, just before the fourth stroke and breathing. This little drag induce is compensated by the rythm obtained I suppose.

Hi Adam, Thanks for the video. I'm booked on the Devon course later this month but I had a question about what you said around 1:20. How does keeping arms, head and chest lower in the water make taking a breath easier?
@adamwalker32
@adamwalker32 3 года назад
Hi. It makes it easier to breathe as hips will be higher with chest down and arm lower. You can rotate on to the breath without lifting high your head which makes it harder. I will explain all in Devon don't worry :)

@andrewrlitster9966

The deep, catch is good too take pressure off the shoulders, but a higher catch does create a stronger lift phase, of the catch of the hand , . The best , is to breathe every 3 ... balance on both sides of the body.
@OceanWalker
@OceanWalker 3 года назад
You only want to raise up just enough to clear the water. Any more uses more energy than necessary and likely your hips drop. If you are balanced in your stroke it doesn’t matter whether you breathe same side or bilateral as you are not lifting your head, instead rotating on to the breath. I am balanced no matter which side.

@@OceanWalker Adam , it is all about , using the buoyancy in salt water , to create lift ..in rhythm with waves, / swell. Have a look at one of my, post in reply.. 40km open water Double Rotnnest channel swim in 11hr48min in 25 kt winds and 2- 3 seas.. no one has done that , in the same conditions.. I will say you are right about not wasting energy in lifting the head,,, sometimes I like to swim open water with my eyes closed for long periods , I call it sleep swimming relaxed , powerful strokes. A AM international openwater coach and olympic level coach for over 25 yrs Adam love your videos One of the best explaining how to swim open water ...Andrew
