Stayed there a few years ago. It’s easy to enjoy your time in such a beautiful town, especially with the changing colors of the Aspens! Hope you have a good time with the extended family coming in.

It is really beautiful. Adam has only shown a taste. The Rocky mountains are huge park! It'll take a few summertime trips. Then there is the skiing in winter. Adam brought up the vacancy problems. Well, there are people all over USA and even foreigners that compete for camping facilities in Colorado (and other states feel the pressure to). In Colorado it is tight. Reservations are a must! ...And many people in Colorado head out to the hills EVERY WEEKEND! And at the end of summer, a lot of families rush(to get their summer camping trip) in before the snow comes down. Keep your eyes on license plates(that is good "operational security", regardless). Plan ahead! Breckinridge rocks.

Love me a good crispyboi as well. Been drinking more lagers in general-I feel like when you just want a beer and don’t want to fuss, they are a great option.

So cute... Abom breaking the rules. But not without asking before whether it's ok :-) But really strange behaviour of the operators of that place.

I love your map and sticker collection. I am going to start one on my RPOD. Where did you get your map of the USA that you have on your camper? One suggestion for next year. In July or August when it is so hot in Florida you should come to Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia. It is over 4000' and always cool. Thanks again for sharing your trip. I was in Colorado for a week the end of August and I would love to come back for a week in October.

Interesting how co-owned and "third-party run" camping grounds seem to be with issues on what ever continent you are! Especially if the owners own individual lots; There just seem to be issues haha Glad the issue was solved by the nicest of the two ladies! :-)

I steep or tough is the terrain heading into Breckenridge? We are coming from the Houston area. I have a 1/2 ton Ram is the reason I’m asking.

Good idea or in the sunshine a bit. Sometimes a razor blade or exacto knife blade will get in between the backing and the sticker.

I think I would've found another site after they canceled you. Or ask for a discount for screwing up.

There’s nothing else available! We tried to book in the state owned campgrounds and everything is fully booked. People don’t understand that until they put themselves in the planning situation.
@Garth2011
@Garth2011 3 года назад
Usually when you find out about this, it's way too late to book another location. This is why the stress is so high when planning trips in parks. Those parks need to understand how critical it is to confirm all cancellations and appointments due to folks being on the move. Many parks are booked a year in advance !

I don't understand why the new RV renter couldn't just take the spot the park is asking you to move into.

This kinda thing has a probability of happening when “owner owned sites “ are in the equation. I totally, 100% understand your frustration, but imagine if you paid a couple or three hundred thousand dollars for a lot to park your Prevost on and it was occupied by a “tourist” . You’ll also find in the parks that host those types of people, the staff is usually a bit “stuffy”; guess it’s the lifestyle of the rich and famous 😂😎. Really enjoying “taking a vacation “ with y’all 👍👍.
@AbomAdventures

The kicker was that they canceled our first reservation when we told them up front that we’re still coming. Imagine what the outcome would have been if we had never of called to check.

Abom Adventures Oh don’t get me wrong; I 110% understand your complaints. The staff totally dropped the ball. I do believe though that the uber nice campgrounds that cater to the “$500k+ coaches “ aren’t really too concerned whether they have our business or not.

Those RV Park reservation/office people really are off when it comes to greeting and servicing their guests/customers. They have no idea the stress involved when they say something that may not totally be the final word and then put the customer into a mood they were not expecting. The office needs to understand that communication is very much required as their guests are driving from long distances and make plans to be there etc. and if there is a delay or "we don't see you on the list", panic sets in right away with guests because you just don't have many options by the time you hear this kind of news. Some people just run their mouth vs. run it professionally and with common sense. Their are times when the rules need to be altered to smooth things out or fulfill the RV Parks obligations for their guests. All it takes is one rude turd in the office talking with a reservation to ruin their entire trip intended. Been there and done that many times. Thanks for the views of the changing leaves etc. I like the additional fee for leaking oil on their concrete slabs...as long as they inform guests in advance when they book. Fix your leaks or bring an old towel to put under your rig.

If only the folks who aren’t happy with our comments on those issues would understand that.

@@AbomAdventures Apparently, nurse Ratchet, forgot to tell you that she cancel's reservations by name vs. by how many RV spots you reserved. No matter what you do, it seems that you have to have the experience of the person you talk to these days in order to get things done accurately and correctly. I had to do just that with a Lowe's purchase I made on line because they had no one in the department to assist in getting an order placed. I took pictures of what they had in the store then went home and did research and ordered what I wanted on their website. 6 weeks later, 2 weeks post their estimated time period, the materials came in. First time doing this and find out when I get to the Lowe's store, I had to go into the Customer Service line which includes those people needing support as well as the many folks returning items. I waited and waited and then when my turn comes up 40 minutes later, the cashier couldn't process the transaction. Asked me to return the next day after something she did on the order processes overnight. I knew better but had spent enough time already and left. Returned, Customer Service line again, 30 minutes waiting and get the same cashier again, had same troubles. Told her to just cancel the order as a returned item, give my card credit and then start a new sale for the same item etc. She kept trying to avoid doing that and finally, like a robot, explained to me she had to do just what I asked her to do 10 minutes ago. I just had to do this and say "Isn't that what I asked you to do 10 minutes ago"? Got the robot politically correct cold response from her again and finished my purchase. I then told her, she needed to get some social training in how to communicate with folks who add and subtract and even multiply numbers. From start to finish, I spent about 4 hours making this purchase plus, I did all the work such as finding the item, figuring which model and finish, measurements etc., place the order online and then waste all of that time savings standing in a line that is not meant for internet sales. Not to mention, a cashier who knew very little cashier skills. I never experienced this in my life, even when credit cards were a new thing and the cashier had to know how to count change back the old way because the register was an old brass/bronze machine and had big mechanical keys that displayed numbers on them. I'd have loved to force that person to have to do her job with one of those !

Campgrounds are tough. These days you almost always have to book ahead of time. Some of the campgrounds run by the states and out in the national recreation areas are easier to get into but everything in town is normally fully booked way in advance.
