I'm so excited to go to Breck at the end of January again! It's gonna be my second time in Breck and fourth time in North-America. I've been in Whistler, Keystone and all over Europe and I can say with confidence that the snow in Colorado is the best I've seen. The champagne powder is awesome, so much better than we get over here in Europe.
Such a great review! It’s really hard to find such detailed review from someone who really skied on those slopes. I wish you did updated reviews. Best holiday wishes!
Going to Breck for the first time in 35 years! My son and a friend that I went with 35 yrs ago are joining me Jan 2016. These are the kinds of tips I'm looking for...thanks Bert.
Hey Gavin, if you are a decent intermediate rider go ahead and try them! at Imperial Bowl stay under the chair lift or to the left. Peak 7 is defently more challenging! once you get off imperial express chair take the catwalk along Whale's Tail then half way between peaks 8 and 7 you can dropp into Y-Chute trail, take your time in the middle thru the chute were is more steep. You can also try Magic Carpet trail but stay below peak 7 and traverse under the rock outcrops and avoid Art's Bowl.
Thanks a lot Bert! I made up my mind already thanks to your tips. I'm goin to ski at Keystone, Breck, Cooper and Vail. Thats it! Hope to see you there!
beginner skiers and riders like you can find some cool green slopes thrugh out the mountain... stay away from peak 9, chair 6, imperial express and the T-bar... from all others you can allways find an easy way down. the blue slopes on peak 9 can be a bit challanging for beginners but those on peak 7 are very nice crusing slopes.
Hi. Planning on visiting Breck in mid Oct. I noticed you said one can hike up/down from peak What? (Min 3:30) it'll be the whole family. The youngest is 5. But we're all pretty "tough" :), last year we hicked a different mnt. Everyday /5days( hanging lake, Aspen mnt etc) in November. (Much colder than October (I think) now we want to do something a lil' more "intense":) any suggestions? TK!
My favorite 2 runs are Windows and Doors. Doors you not find on the map but is twice as steep as Windows and tighter. Back side of Peak 9, even at 3pm you can make fresh tracks. very hard to find but worth it!
I ended up doing Imperial bowl, horshoe, and contest. I also did devils crotch, mustang, dark rider, and elan. Ended up being a lot easier than I imagined.
i would consider my self an intermediate snowboarder would i be fine doing the bowls on top peak 8 and 7. ive done 2 double blacks but they were in new york
This year? So far there isn't - we've had a pretty bad winter so far. Breck is pretty mellow for the most part - do one of the 420 tours then head on up there.
. . . hmmmm . . . yes, Breck is not the best place to be when you're short on patience . . . get up and out early and get on over to Peak 10 for the mid part of the days. Have fun!
