Skiing Telluride, Colorado from the top of the Revelation lift, elevation 12,570', to the bottom of the Gondola, elevation 8,750', via See Forever and Milk Run. 3,820 vertical feet of spectacular views.
Lived in Telluride for about 8 years... this is so nice to see...I know all these slopes and I felt like I was skiing them again...thanks for sharing...Telluride is an amazing place!
Man, the views in, of, and from the Colorado Rockies just never get old. It doesn’t matter where you are, or how often you’ve been. That’s God’s country! 😍 🎼 Rocky Mountain High... (thanks, JD 😉)
The last time I skied in Telluride was in 1987, when I was 24. The lift you rode up and the Gold Hill lift didn't exist yet. You walked up that much narrower cat track, that is now a much wider lane, in hopes of find untracked snow. After you passed the upper gondola building, the run you took to town was a solid bump run. It was weird seeing it groomed. None of the runs to town were groomed. Only the cat tracks and the two runs that went to the base of the village were groom. I've been to Telluride 3 times since, all in the summer. So I know how much it has grown. In spite of those summer trips, it still amazes me how much the ski area has changed since 1987.
Amazing vid. It doesn't get any better than the part of your run starting at 5:30... wide, groomed, semi-steep and empty with great views. Thanks for letting us stuck in an office on the east coast daydream.
I just wanted you to know Andy, your video was a major part in my decision to go to Telluride. I am a regular at Vail, but wanted to try something new. I was also bringing some intermediate skiers with me from Atlanta, and wanted them to be able to enjoy some views, too. This run is perfect for double green, to blue skiers, despite the altitude and surrounding double black extreme runs!! This video does a great job of showing the beauty of Telluride, but doesn't come close to representing it as a whole! This is the most beautiful place I have ever been- I went for a week, but stayed longer. The one bowl represented in this video, is just that- one bowl. The views throughout the resort are stunning. There are more types of terrain here, and more extreme terrain, than anywhere I have been. Great for all types of skiers. I will continue to go back again, and again. Thank you Andy!
Great video. I've skied that same line down the mountain to town and he boogied. Back in Feb to Telluride. I've been going for 18 years and it's the best part of my year.
Hey Andy, thank you for making this among other incredibly inspiring videos. I've been skiing Telluride for 20+ years now but have only been up a few times in the past 10 years. My pals and I are heading back up again this March and this exhilarating video so reminds me of how much I love this place; the skiing, the vibe, the people . . . everything about it. I've done this run so many times but not nearly as fast and agile as you . . . keep up the good work and I'll be watching all of the rest of them.
If you're ever in Telluride stay in Mountain Lodge! Stayed there for ten years and finally bought a house there in 2013. Amazing location between the runs Double Cabin and Village Bypass, and the people there are amazing! Just a 5 minute walk into Mountain Village and there's a complimentary shuttle! Love Telluride and can't wait to be there this Christmas.
Thanks for that. I've not been to Telluride in winter for about 8 years and haven't been able to ski for the last two due to shoulder surgeries. Planning a Bucket-list trip this year. Have my season pass and a nice place to stay for 30 days. Now just hoping for a great snow year. This video helps stoke the fire!!
Thank you for uploading this. I lived on Mt. Hood, OR for about a year, and worked at Timberline Lodge (Where the exterior shots of The Shining were filmed). Anyway, this reminds me of how much I love and miss skiing !! Thank You!!
I love this place. This is basically another location i grew up in. And im super excited because im going for christmas this year. I STRONGLY recommend you go. This place is STUNNING
Last time I was there was no such lift, however it was the first year they had Palmyra Peak open to inbounds hikers, I was pleasantly surprised, they had record snowfall that year, I imagine it can be sparse without ample snow in the area I was riding... Thanks for sharing...
I moved to Pagosa Springs Dec. ‘17. I’ve returned to skiing at age 61, after a 40-yr break, and came back as a strong intermediate... I love Wolf Ski Resort, buy my hubby gifted me a week in Telluride and baby, I can’t wait ...
Ha Ha yea. . .if you lose your speed on a board in that section you end up walking or hopping 100 yards or so. If you know its coming up, you can dive in and make it through.
lol! I'm not a skier and my stomach totally tightened up in knots watching this! What a view though. I wonder if they let people ride up and back down without getting off, just to take pictures.....
i skied from chair 14 to mountain village next year i am doing chair 15 to mountain village then i will practice the runs down from st. sophia (milk run) down to the bottom of the gondola then last but not least, chair 15 to the bottom of the gondola. just like what you did in this video
I'm looking at this thinking, "Man 4,000' in just 10 minutes. That doesn't seem like a long run." And then I remember with my experience level on a snowboard that same trail would take me 45min to an hr. (I've only been on a handful of ski trips and the last one was 11 years ago)
SternLX well that’s just crazy. I was planning not doing it on the week that I’ve been here but it’s closed. I haven’t even been skiing here for a decade! 8 years I’ve been skiing in telluride.
Hes not that good. Im a decent amount better than him and i could barely do a blue last year. Now i can do double blacks. All you have to do is ride consistently
Also for people who live in Texas and other places like that and love riding but the drive to Telluride is to long I really suggest Taos ski valley New Mexico. It's beautiful with easy or advanced train and this ski season of 2014 they have added a lift to there twelve thousand foot kachina peak
@@POW862 How can Texans ruin Telluride? We don't live there or vote there. We buy a vacation home/condo and drop a lot of money there, contributing to the Telluride economy. Prejudice much?
excellent video. much prefer this type to the cutting in and out of shots that is usually done admittedly getting the right day for this type of filming is harder.
looking to work at either, vail, aspen or telluride during weekends, ski during the week, and play drums some night...I hear Tell the town is better than vail
Tim Andrew, it definitely is. Not too big, not to short. 15 chairlifts. 2 free gondolas. I think 2-3 magic carpets, 148 trails, and many more activities winter and summer! Really beautiful place,
Well I’m 13 and I’ve been to park city, steamboat and Jackson hole but I was young when I was in Jackson hole going here for Christmas and skiing is life to me but I can only go one week a year any good?
God, I haven't been skiing in years and after watching a few videos a crave to go again, however, I have a really difficult decission to make - Go to Chicago and see a Bears home game and see Chicago or go to Colarado and go skiing. So stumped. Any advice?
I lived in both Colorado and Chicago, you have a tough choice, but in the end I would prefer the slopes (that's just me though). It depends on how much you love skiing vs how much you love the Bears and the city life. If your going to Chicago for a game alone I'd say just wait another year. There is always a chance for a dual vacation to for a week (Do both for a few days) but that's an expensive option. In the end how much do you love skiing vs a new experience go to Chicago though if you're not just coming for a game lots to do here.
to all of yall i have skied telluride my entire life its the best place to ski anywhere i can ski all the runs including the double black EX and im only 13
Yeah imagine this, @ 0:38 seconds this guy is just getting off of the lift, and @ 1:16 he's looking back at the lift that he just got off of. Quite a distance. Now you just need to put in an alpine coaster that's 12,570 feet long and you've got it made.
I was born and grew up in Colorado, and I lived there for almost 25 years. Colorado is a huge state. And the mountainous parts of it definitely look like this. Colorado is definitely this beautiful--and it's also diverse, meaning that Colorado is not uniform. the San Juan Mountains look very different from, say, North Park. Colorado is very dry, unlike, Washington. It's also very far from the ocean, and the climate sees drastic weather changes from morning to night and from summer to winter.
Andy Lewicky Sorry for the late response. I do appreciate that heads up! This place looks perfect for a blue runner that likes to have space to move around and not have to schuss because it's too narrow or steep. I love Alyeska, but most of their runs on the upper levels are borderline daredevil, even the blue ones.
leave on dec28th for telluride never been and every day that gets closer the more anxious i get!! espically since theres very little snow we need the snow!
