Hey there bro, thanks. I agree always good to connect with people out and about. For sure Nigel helped big time - I had an hour to spare because of him and so had a brew in Talgarth. And I got to recall my dear twin brother. Perfect! All the best. Mark
@@WyeExplorer Think you have touched upon the real adventure there :) unexpected meetings and detours leading to great outcomes for the positive minded :) all the best Mark, Tm
Walking, we walk with our destiny, crossing other destinies. All the beauty of unexpected encounters, nature and wildlife. Life, actually . It is with pleasure that I wish you,Mark , happy season greetings . 😊🎄🎅
Hi there Gaddielle, you always express such enchanting thoughts. Yes, destinies crossing and there is nothing we can do about it apart from accept them for the glorious paths they are. Seasons greetings to you also my friend. Mark
The hills are alive, love that saying Mark. I agree in the wet weather the sound of the water is unbeatable. I could stand by running water all day listening to it. Even in the clag, your walk looked fantastic as always, just love the different colours of the trees, vegetation, moorland, etc. You had fab views over the River Usk and Llangorse, particularly those when you were climbing Mynydd Troed. Glad you met a kind guy like Nigel to give you a lift to Llangorse, great that there are still some good people like that around. More great memories of Paul, always enjoy hearing you talk about him. Great stuff as always Mark, take care down there and all the best 👍
Hey there Patrick, yeah for sure it's not dull just because it's a dull day - I too could listen to water all day. There was still color about and views despite the clag as you say. Stoked with them all and the kindness shown by Nigel. Re-the memories it was that time of year - no matter what I can't forget - glad you were good with me talking about Paul. Well, many thanks as always Patrick. Take care care out there. Mark
Mark, a lovely memorial walk❤Nothing better than when the hills are alive with the sounds of rushing water. Cool to get a workaround hitching that ride and have a chat with Nigel👍 Definitely light energy to be harnessed out in the hills and the outdoors, just seeing things like that woodpecker, the kestrel or the distant waterfalls. It was a mountain alright in terms of presence, effort and weather😊 I have tried lightweight fabric walking boots and have went back to good old leather like yours. All the best for life and the outdoors in 2024.
It was a great day and memory Gerry. I needed this one and the water all around. For sure a highlight getting the lift and meeting Nigel. Re-the energy you know it bro - just penetrates deep all of the natures play birds and falls. Yeah, our ancestors weren't wrong when using the leather Gerry. Thanks mate - a good start already to 2024. Hope you have some awesome adventures. See you out there. Mark
Great video Mark. I have met some great farmers too. There is the odd hostile one or two in the Peaks but thankfully they are a minority. Great to see the Dragon on the Trig too. Beautiful hike and time for remembrance. Condolences on your loss but memories keep friends and love ones alive through the light energy. Thanks for sharing.
Hi there Chris, Yeah I agree there are some good folk out there on the land so to speak and some right selfish buggers. The Dragons always a good sight. That's OK about the loss - it's been hard work but the world doesn't stop still. Remembrance though is a must for me. Many thanks for watching Chris. Take care out there. Mark
Wonderful countryside Mark, and what a beautiful old farm that was! You dropped lucky with the kind farmer givingbyou a lift past the flooded lake too 😁 All the best and take care👍
“Nature never goes out of style”. That’s a great quote Mark. What a fantastic hike that was. Glad the boots worked out well What a star Nigel is - a good guy! Loved the climb and the views back and then the views from the summit of Mynydd Troed. A wonderful wild place. A shame you couldn’t get around the lake but still a fantastic hike again. And a brilliant remembrance walk Loved this one again. Have a wonderful holiday period Mark.
No, it will never lose its appeal Dave. Yeah, a good man for giving me the ride - I appreciated it. Re-Mynydd Troed it's amazing up top but the views weren't great because of the weather - another day with the lake too. For sure a great memorial walk - it was 7 years to the day. Thanks Dave. All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark - for taking me to a part of the park I've never been to - really looks like it's worth the effort. Amazing people farmers - they seem to have a sense of people that tells them whether you are a good'un or not, and are generally really helpful and happy to pass on information. Agree with you about the water nosies - just a pity it won't stay off the paths though! Have a great 2024 sir. ATB, Roger
Hi there Roger, a real pleasure there mate. Yeah, it's a great area - I love it there and the unique views. Re-the farmers Nigel owns that old farm but he makes Lime - that's his main business. Bit he was kind. For sure we are waterlings and gravitate. The hills are alive aren't they? Thanks - see you out there in 2024. All the best. Mark
Hi Mark, as soon as you mentioned Crickhowell a nervous twinge went down my spine having spent many a week at the nearby camp. Admittedly it was a long time ago, but the memories are still fresh in my head. The views are amazing around that part of Wales, then you add the kindness of strangers and you're on to a very good day. Love the symbolism of touching the trig point, and i certainly recognise the look of joy on your face. Nature is magic, isn't it. Great video and it looks like a very touching tribute to Paul. All the best mate, Mike
Hi Mike, so you were in the military? Was it a good time or bad time? Yeah, the views are great up there and as you say mix in some helpful kind locals and you have a top day. That trig I hadn't been to for 13 years since Paul and I last touched it. I was overjoyed - at the nature too. Many thanks - have a good old time this next week. Mark
@@WyeExplorer yeah, 14 years. Overall a good time, mainly because of the people I worked with but quite often in challenging places and environments. Knowing the reason behind the video and where you went and why certainly adds additional layers.
Such a beautiful area there, Mark. I've only been up Allt yr Esgair twice and the views are excellent. Mynydd Troed, just the once so far. Even more dramatic from the top! Sounds like you had a great day out and that the strength in your leg is returning. No such thing as a bad view, in my opinion. Clear skies aren't essential. Water will continue to run and flow. I imagine you might struggle at this time of year with Christmas now imminent too but I hope you have a good end to the year and wish you all the best for 2024.
I agree Olly - it's fantastic around there. It draws me back and has done you it sounds. I love Mynydd Troed and Mynydd Llangorse - two great hills. The leg was sore this week and I'm hiking the upper Wye Friday and Saturday so will have to slow down. But getting there. For sure love it any weather. Yes, it's hard. I lost Paul and my family - people don't know that - it's been awful. I'm fortunate to be here. A dear friend though has invited me over . I'll be fine. Thanks Olly. Seasons Greetings mate - here's to 2024. Mark
Looks a great route Mark, shame it was flooded around the Lake, but then you wouldn't have met Nigel and his kindness, not enough folk go out of their way for others these days..i enjoyed coming along with you..cheers Steven.
Yeah, a very enjoyable path trodden steve. Very true - that's how serendipity works isn't it? He was a good man. Glad you enjoyed this one. All the best up there. Mark
loverly intro on some beautiful trails, accompanied by great background music. Hope you got on well with the new boots, I think they are the newer version of mine. Awesome of him to give a lift, little things like that can really make a trip. Glorious weather at the trig haha definitely makes you feel alive, sill beautiful views. DEFINITELY love those windless spots, certainly feels like another world. Ah awesome on the running front, and thanks so much for the shout out, very much appreciated Mark. Thanks for sharing Atb Mark
Thanks Mark. Yeah a great start at the source of the Llynfi - music came natural. As far as the boots go I've had it with technical boots. These were great and still are. Ha, a s good as lifts from friendly locals. That was good. Re-the weather I'm happy in any as you are but I'll always take a windless spot like that with views. I know you like to run - my little jaunt reminded me of you. Happy to shout out mate. Well, a pleasure to share. All the best. Mark
Thank you for lifting my spirits this morning!... What a beautiful walk. It's a shame you couldn't get around the lake, but how lucky to have met a kind soul like Nigel. Here in Norfolk, we have rivers breaking their banks, we have flood plains but it seems more and more houses are being developed around those plains, where then dies the water go! Isn't it special to walk with memories of loved ones, I lost my dad 3 years ago who loved his walking and I carry him everywhere I go. I always tell him "We're off on a new one today dad," when we do walks new to us. Anyway, fantastic atmospheric video, loved it! Take care, and a Merry Christmas - if you celebrate it - Jenny 😊
A real pleasure Jenny, so glad you enjoyed the walk and the meeting of souls. Yes, I can imagine the water down there in Norfolk. Indeed, more concrete too with disastrous run off. Thanks - I agree. We speak to them through our walks and they do hear us. I must say though, and with much love to your dad, Paul was my identical twin. We didn't have children or get married and we lived together. I've been fighting to stay here ever since. It's easier now nut boy has it been tough. Well, many thanks Jenny. Appreciated - seasons greetings. Mark
@@WyeExplorer Thank you for sharing that with me Mark, our loved ones are truly with us always and Paul will be walking every step with you. Right back when I was a child my dad would say, "Just around the corner," when asked how much further while on one of hikes. Every walk we smile when we come to that 'corner'. Walking heals and soothes the soul - nature is such a wonderful medicine. Take care Mark, Jenny.
@@WyeExplorer Sorry Mark I wasn't sure how much to say because we've only had a few conversations - I didn't want to cause you any upset... sorry I did that anyway. I can only imagine the bond you would've had with your brother, and without him, must leave a huge void in your life. Please accept my apology, Jenny
@@bumblejennybee88 Alright there Jenny, that's OK. The void touched me physically - I wasn't very well at all. I accept your apology totally - no need to worry. Have a great day tomorrow.
Hi Mark, nice to hear the leg seems to be much better, i always love watching the birds of prey going about there business, there still is kind people out there who are willing to help, tremendous views from the top and could just make out all the water coming down the hillside, another great adventure Mark and stay safe yourself cheers nigel
Hi there Nige, well it's been a bit sore this week and I'm out hiking again on Friday in the Upper Wye - I'll have to slow down. For sure great to watch them birds and connect with the helpful locals. Re-the views I so enjoyed them and being back on top there listening to the water too. Thanks Nigel - seasons greetings mate. All the best. Mark
Absolutely loved this video , partly because it’s an area I know and love well and partly because it was a lovely remembrance of your brother. I did Allt Yr Esgair recently in a video of my own , went up the opposite way from Penorth- incredible views up there for a small hill, beautiful place and summit area. Mynydd Troed .. firstly I’m glad Im not the only one who huffs and puffs up that steep north face 😂, also I sheltered from the wind in that same spot as you , lovely views and wind free! Cool to meet such friendly locals and see how many great memories you had with Paul .. could see the emotion in you especially at the end .. Finally light energy yes! This is exactly what this hobby provides , so much dark energy in the world , we can only avoid it and fight against it , this is one of the best ways to and live your life outdoors in such beautiful places Peace mate
Hey there Adam, thanks bro - glad you liked this one. It is good up there. I've just checked your channel out again and see Mynydd Troed walk. I'll watch tonight. I look forward to that. Ha, yeah it's steep up there for sure. As for the local that was as light as can be - a good boost in the day. It's that light energy again out and about. Well, I enjoyed very much remembering my dear bro. Many thanks Adam. Take care out there - seasons greetings. Mark
Well, my right has been a bit sore this week - but starting to feel better after the cold bucket and some massage. Back out tomorrow and Saturday. All the best out there. Mark
Excellent trail out there Mark, thank you for collecting together the lovely scenes and sounds of the hills. You had some wicked weather on the top! It's good to get out there and remember old times and trips. I can see you popping back in the summer time to visit the church on the southern shore of the lake. Not been to that area but is now on the list. Cheers, Warren :)
Thanks Warren - yeah you'd enjoy this area - the views are fantastic Usk valley and all. The weather was cool really - just wet and windy. Ah, 7 years to the day mate - nothing was stopping me remembering my dear twin. For sure I'll be back there - to camp on Mynydd troed too. Many thanks. Mark
I am very drawn to river sources for some reason. Love that you quoted that Miley Cyrus song, excellent! I would imagine that the landscape there looks a bit different than it did 2,500 years ago, less cultivated back then.
Hey, another river source geek - they speak to us Cynthia. Yes, had to borrow that quote - it felt right. Re-the ancient era or was it the Iron Age? they had surprisingly stripped a lot back - many were farmers - semi hunter gatherers. So, not to different. Thanks my friend. All the best over there. Mark
I had to look a the map Mark - I haven't been up Allt yr Esgair for 30 years I think ! It's a great viewpoint, as is Troed. I think it was under snow last time I was up that, so that must have been a while ago. Llangorse lake (I believe) is fairly often larger than it should be - I've had trouble getting around the back of it too. Ty Mawr farm has some nice buildings I hadn't seen before, and a very helpful farmer. Season's greetings, Dave.
Hi there Dave, wow 30 years. That'll make it early 90's. I was raving in the Wye Valley across the way then. Yeah, you're right the banks are often sodden - the farmer said that. Ty Mawr is beautiful and fascinating - they renovated it in the 80's. A helpful chap for sure. Seasons greetings back to you Dave. Take care - all the best. Mark
Hi Mark.... I so enjoy your videos!! What a gorgeous hike! ... WOW, That's Some Wind you had there!! I'm having a cup of mint tea right now... Paul walks with ya, Mate!! A nice visit... Always wishing you safe. Happy travels my friend. Merry Christmas, Mark. 🙏💙✨🕊🕊
Hi there Anita, many thanks my good friend. Yeah, this was a nice hike poor weather and all. Hey, I drink mint tea too. Nice! Yeah, he's always there - right in the space. Happy Christmas Anita - take good care over there. Mark
Hi Mark. To be honest... I believe it was a fantastic hike that brought back memories from back in the day, but it didn't look like it. 🌧🌧I know sometimes the rain comes suddenly, but this was a Tsunami. I just got chilled just thinking about it. The hot tea must have been nice afterwards. Cheers Mark and have a nice weekend. Sretana and Zac. 🖐😄🤗

Wonderful to see the light energy in your face Mark. We can see how much you enjoyed it, very nicely filmed. There's nowt better than a kestrel when it comes to a hovering raptor. Nice mossy snug you found there out of the wind too. Lovely views, nice touch with the quotes at the beginning. Cheerio! Sue
Hey, thanks Sue - yeah good vibes on this one. For sure them raptors can mesmerize you - it was a wonderful sight. As for the snug seat/views nothing better when it's going mad overhead. The quotes? Had to transition somehow and they fitted nicely. Many thanks Sue. Take care up there. Mark
Such a fabulous walk Mark. I agree, the sound of water rushing off the hills is a beautiful sound. I used to love visiting Llangorse Lake (when I lived just outside Hay) & have a couple of beautiful photos. Wishing you a Happy Christmas & here's to a fabulous 2024 🎉
Hi Anita - glad you enjoyed the walk. Hey, another waterling. Yeah, what a sound. I understand your love for Llangorse - it's a great area. Seasons greetings to you too. All the best out there. Mark

Hi Simon, Yeah a bit of an adventure - some things going on including some humanity - I enjoyed the lift. Without doubt a great region of the UK. Re-the running I was a little sore later and have been this last few weeks but otherwise OK. I will try and get through this period peacefully. Thanks. Hope you have a good time. Hi Mark another lovely memorial walk for you. So nice since 2015 that they have developed it more. This was such a lovely walk with great views and I love the sound of water too, water therapy Mark ! Shame that you couldnt walk around the lake because of flooding but so good that you got a lift from Nigel. Views from up at the top were stunning but windy for you hehe.Such a lovely place. Have a blessed and peaceful Christmas 🙏👍~ Anna
Hi Anna, thanks my friend - yeah it's that time of year. I love to remember. Re-the source I prefer it without the car park but hey ho people need to get to the castle. I totally agree about the water - what as sound eh? So much therapy for sure - ha therapy in meeting kind folk that will take me around flooded lakes even - that was good. Re-the views I could feast upon them all day. Well, I do hope you're all well up there. Seasons greetings. Mark
A fantastic walk. Looks like you had a great time looking back on the memories you’ve had in the area. Nice that you managed to get a lift when the route by the lake was flooded. We have had lots of rain again lately. Liked the staff you found looked a good one. And absolutely getting out always feels me with good vibes 😊
Hi there Yasmin, thanks. For sure I had to do this walk on this day - loved starting from the Llynfi source. My twin and I had a lovely time there. Next time with the lake or the weather. Ha ha! Totally, never a downer outdoors. All the best out there. Mark
Nice one Mark, looked a cracking walk and it was good of Nigel for the lift to keep you on time . The hill looked a nice place for a summit camp Mark, nice views over to the dragons back . . Sometimes its just good to get despite the weather ...good stuff bro ...cheers Stevie
Hey Stevie, yeah a good old walk mate storm and all. It's always a good meeting kind folk he? I had time for a brew in town as a result of Nigel's lift. Re-the camps I know mate I was clocking the pitches. I'm back up there for sure. Thanks Stevie. All the best up there. Mark
Well that weather looked pretty typical for much of the past few weeks Mark, so fair-play you making the effort. I checked out some of the places you walked on the map and clocked the church by Llangorse Lake. It looks a very interesting area. I'd really like to do some walking in your neck of the woods sometime and will let you know beforehand if I do. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Bye for now, Chris
