Great review. I bought the B70 two months ago. Love it, except I already sent it to Breitling Service. The hour hand is losing time, about a minute per day and the countdown timer/alarm beeper is barely audible, making that function useless. Very disappointed with Breitling. They have a problem with the B70 caibre. Evaluation by Breitling Service supposedly takes two weeks. Hopefully, I will hear something by June 21, 2024. Stay tune. Btw, I have two Aerospace Evo’s (one is Evo Night Mission limited edition w/yellow dial) and love them!
Definitely! What I didn’t mention, was that I had several phone calls and emails with Breitling service about the muffled sound of the countdown timer/beeper. They said they talked with a technician/watchmaker and said that the balloon material could not be removed. When I sent it in to Service I told them I would be more than willing to be part of an experiment and remove the balloon material to see if it made a difference. Like I said I have two Evo’s and the beeper sound is much louder. I used it for years to wake up in the morning. Stay tuned!
Finally heard back from Breitling on Thursday, June 27th. They are going to repair the hour hand losing minute/day. But, they are waiting for parts coming from Switzerland. They said they can't do anything about the countdown timer/alarm beeper. I reiterated, again, that I am willing to be an experiment and just take out the balloon material. They said I should have the watch back by end of July. Stay tuned.
I think this looks fantastic, my preference is for the black strap. I like the idea of a thermo compensated super quartz over a mechanical watch. I wish more watch makes did this. Longines used to have a line of VHP quartz watches but it seems like it's been discontinued. My only criticism is the 2 yr battery life that will be even less as you said, if you use the functions of the watch. I think for this price, the battery life should be much longer.
Nice video with an apt judgement. Operating quartz watches with batteries is outdated technology. It's a shame, because I actually really like this watch. I had the predecessor. The battery lasted at least 4 years.
Nice video! Throughout this video the problematic misalignment of the hour hand to the minute hand can be seen. From what I have read, this is a widespread issue with this new calibre, and even after service the problem often returns. Which means that Breitling doesn't yet have a proper fix for it. Really sad that the current buyers are essentially beta testers paying $5,000 for the privilege.
