How many people could, having had an unexpected question about mortality thrown at them in an interview, give such a beautiful, honest, funny, poignant and thoughtful response with any hesitation. I’m honestly blown away by that
It’s a serious question that deserves a thoughtful reply. I think the interviewer might’ve gotten more than he expected. I appreciated it, that’s for sure.
I had a similar philosophy when my dog got to 15: after that point I saw it as we were just in extra time. And we had 3 glorious years of it together too.
I'm 38, and have loved Mr. Gleeson ever since I saw him in 28 Days Later when I was 17. When I'm reaching 70, I will remember the phrase "bonus country". What a brilliant way to frame the closing chapters of life.
76 here and just got over (I’m hoping) a not very bad bout of cancer. So I understand pretty well this bonus time idea he talks about. Lately I’ve been calling it “extra time,” as in a football/soccer match. It’s not a dire notion, though. In the extra time I’m allotted it’s become very clear to me that I must let the world slow down so I can see and enjoy those “little” things that before sped past me barely noticed. Slow it down and try to reduce time with the gadgets (here I am typing away in a YT comment section 😊…). Cheers
Brendan Gleeson for president!!! We should look to the Arts and not to politics to replace Michael D, and Brendan Gleeson is a great example of everything it is to be Irish 💚
Among if not the, finest of his generation , first stomped into my sights during “into the Wesh “ just storms it in his own way . The guard is just killer . Thanks Brendon , I hope ye don’t mind I,ve always said “Brendon fekkn Gleeson” who else .
Outstanding amazing talented gentleman incredible Irish actor 👏 love seeing him in films. I am typing this from my hometown, Derry Northern Ireland x ⚘️ 🌈 🌎 🙏 🇮🇪 ❤️ 2:45
Personally I hate it when our Brendan dies in a film .It is a rarity it he survives the whole way through. He was very gallant how he died in In Bruges to save Colin Farrell.Keep going Brendan life is better with you in it.Innit
Are they having this conversation in a church? The stain glassed windows suggest they are but the answer says otherwise. I can tell you from experience as I approach 73 next month, that having one’s moral and spiritual house in order with God from early one goes a long way to not only prepare one’s mind for the inevitable but also inform the mind as to how to spend the time most effectively.
"Just natural" and "life cycle" are very very silly platitudes. Disappointed he closed with those remarks. Not that I didn't have misgivings with the rest of his answer but was more reasonable until that point.
