Not interested in jumping through RU-vid's hoops, Brent Butt is going to forget the algorithm, and do things HIS way. He explains in this episode of THE BUTTPOD.
"Corner Gas", worked really well, because of the ensemble cast. You came to Spruce Grove, a few years ago, I went, and thoroughly enjoyed the show. A really nice thing you did was a meet & greet, with the audience, you allowed me to get a picture with you,and you signed my "Corner Gas" uniform. That was awesome. This is something I very much appreciate. It's that little extra, that connects you to the audience.
I came across Corner Gas when I joined Amazon Prime. I was thinking what the hell is this. I gave it a try and immediately became hooked. I live in a small town in North Carolina and and spent my young years on a tobacco farm. CG was like going back home to the farm for me. People you could trust and leaving your home unlocked. I`m now a devoted CG fanatic and have turned friends on to the show. I trust you are making the right choices for CG because it`s like your child. I`ll continue to re-watch old episodes and wait for any new material/ideas from you folks.
I'm a Corner Gas viewer from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Love CG and love your RU-vid channel. Always happy to see Nancy on your channel. And let that poor dog alone, he takes his pleasure where he finds it (in this case, his nether region).
I found Corner Gas when I was visiting Canada and took it back to the UK to share with my family...it was the humour and how well the people and scripts were written - your level of gentle sarcasm is very enjoyable to the british! Thank you Brent!
You are making a smart decision. American companies don’t understand how savvy us Canadians are. That is why Target never took off. Keep doing what your doing Brent.
And also, the previous Zellers stores were made to look like Target before Target took over, so they looked identical, before and after the take over. Zellers didn’t do much business, never did and then Wallyword made it tough for all retailers. Not only that but Target carried few men’s clothes, the women’s clothes covered half the store and the really good departments like sports or automotive and hardware sucked! Then Target put a sour taste in some Canadians mouths When they screwed the Zellers employees by firing the whole bunch of them and then made them re-apply for their old jobs at minimum wage. Not good business.
I watch on Amazon Prime Video. Milford, Michigan. In my opinion, Corner Gas is popular for three reasons; 1. Multiple story threads in one episode. 2. Subtle, intelligent humor combined with a bit of slapstick. 3. Nothing pretentious. Love the animated version too! Best wishes for further success.
I watch Corner Gas every single day, it is my all time favorite show of my 51 years. THANK YOU!! As soon as the animated series is avaliable in the USA I will be watching it but I really really would love to see the original come back for a revival!
I'm outside Canada. I watch Corner Gas from my computer mostly, but sometimes from my tablet. Amazon Prime. Saw the movie first. Hit me as hard as the first time I saw Monty Python. Loved it. Then saw the series was on. So I started watching it 2 days ago. Almost done with season 6. Doctor says he can get me meds for when I finish all 6 seasons. Some information in this post may be slightly exaggerated. Except for the much love of the movie and series. That part is true. Also I am really outside Canada. Missouri, US, near Kansas City. Or so they have me believe.
I absolutely agree one hundred thousand or whatever percent! There's something special about someone who makes the kind of material they want to make. The audience that comes in are the people who truly enjoy that content right alongside the creator. You can honestly just tell when someone is trying to do something for attention and bigger views and all that. So good on you for sticking to what you feel is best and letting your audience grow organically. That's part of the fun! I certainly hope your channel will grow and will be a fun ride! Keep doing what you're doing and have fun. I'm thrilled you're making some fun videos for RU-vid because as a fan myself, it's an absolute treat to see you making this fun stuff and to be enjoying yourself all the while. :)
I’m a grateful viewer, and by that I mean I absolutely love your content, you are so funny. I was sad when Corner Gas was done, but I still watch the reruns on our Comedy channel, but your Buttpod is funny and I am so glad that you put that on the interweb so get to to have more of your comedy! Yay. Cheers.
Only recently became aware of you and your work. Corner Gas was simple genius. Thoroughly enjoying it with my loved ones. Everyone loves it. Thanks so much for being you. By the way, very good point on this video.
I watched all six seasons and the movie via Amazon. I live in California and I loved it. im going to give you highest compliment I can by saying it reminds me of the Andy Griffith show from the 60's. Fred is reminiscent of the great Don Knots. Thanks
I "discovered" Corner Gas only recently (I don't watch much TV) but now I'm totally hooked. I've been binge watching all the episodes ... brilliant writing/acting and funny as hell. Great characters ... Oscar just cracks me up, we all know someone like that. LOL
Hello, from Birmingham, Alabama! I've been a fan for years, bought all the DVDs, and went into mourning when the TV show ended. Glad to see the animated series!
Spring/summer 2022. Been stuck at home on medical leave. Corner gas is like comfort food for the heart & mind. I only wish there were more seasons. Although the animated version is pretty good too.
You’re exactly right. I tried 6-7 years ago for a minute but with working a real job for 50 plus hours a week I just didn’t have it in me to create content and I’ve seen so many people do the same. Here’s three 5 minute videos on my channel over the course of 2 years which is what I see from a lot of people. RU-vid is really tickin me off because there are people who have dedicated fan bases that they’ve built over 10 yrs and their getting weeded out by say someone like the Rock who comes in and boom 1 million subscribers in like 2 hours. Thennnn he has somebody developing the content, writing it, producing it, filming it, cutting it and publishing it for like a 7 minute vid. How’s the average Joe supposed to compete with that. Then RU-vid changes monetary values and forces someone with 350,000 subscribers out because they can’t pay their bills anymore after 10 years because it’s not monetized content anymore. Takes the “ You “ right out of RU-vid. Anywhoyonder can’t wait for CA animated to be available in the states Eh. 👍🤓 ✌️
You're great as U are, Brent. The common sense small town personality is what brought you success. Why mess about with dem elgo-riddumbs and start losing UR hair over it? (You know what I meant) 😆 One jester to another, right?
I discovered Corner Gas when it was carried on Chicago station WGN which was on my cable system in Ohio. Been a fan of the show ever since. Discovered The ButtPod during the pandemic. Been a fan of it ever since, too.
From an American fan. We love the show, cartoon, and movie. Some of us felt gyped that we didn't get to see it when it aired originally. I rewatch episodes all the time.
I literally discovered this show on Prime Video this weekend by chance. When I saw the opening scene of episode 1 in its 4:3 glory, I was dreading that it would have a laugh track as was the norm back in the day. However, I was totally blown away by the humour, the cutaway gags, the characters, and the environment. I'm not even ashamed that I binge watched the entire show from seasons 1 to 6 within a long weekend. Cheers from New Zealand!
My association with comedy came as a host of the San Jose Improv Comedy Palace for 2 years. I loved spending my evenings after the shows or afternoons before the shows having dinner or lunch with the comedians and getting to know them and their lives. Comic behind the mask.
Found Corner Gas animated during lockdown, led me to tv show and movie. Just wish both could have gone on forever. Now I have this channel to fill the void. Love you so much forever BB and all the marvellous cast. You are all legend. Much love and admiration from Ireland. 💕
We were very lucky in Belgium when Corner Gas was on TV in our small country across the Atlantic. I loved that show dearly and I surely would watch it again whenever I had the chance. I was in Vancouver for business in '93, and I immediately fell in love with your wonderful country and its people.
I'll admit I didn't watch the show while it was televised but I happened to come across it on RU-vid and I watch several episodes per night. Its a great show and one of the reasons is I love every character and have no real favorites.Im happy for its success.
I came across your wonderful series on Amazon Prime. It is fantastic! I watch the episodes more than once. The dialogue, humor and crazy situations are priceless! Thank you Brent and cast!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
May 9, 2020 Quarantined in Oregon, USA. The ELGRYTHMY for RU-vid brought me here as a suggestion on my RU-vid Home Page. So, I've been watching 'Corner Gas 107' since 2013 or so. And on RU-vid, Amazon Prime and IMDB TV for a few years. My point is, it has taken RU-vid THIS LONG to figure out I love all things Corner Gas. At 73, I've come to accept all sorts of oddities and weirdness in every one of the "Foreign" counties I've lived and worked in. But this new way of consuming videos (TV and Movies for kripe sake), anyway it has a way of messing with my internal clock. It is getting real tough to watch "Regular TV" with commercial breaks. Anyway, I have the Quarantined Rambles - the reason I'm writing is to let you know how much joy and warmth you and your friends have brought to my life. Thank you all for sharing...
I like your plan in moving forward. Many of the "maker" channels I used to watch (to learn how to do stuff) are so busy chasing the rabbit down the hole I've lost interest in their content. I'm glad you are having fun with this, and thanks for sharing.
Dothan, Alabama here (just 30 minutes from the Alabama/Florida line). After I'd watched several TV comedies on Amazon Prime, its ALGORITHM told me that I might also enjoy watching CORNER GAS. I watched a few episodes of the first season one evening and got hooked! I've been watching it each night since -- two or three episodes at a time -- and will soon be checking out the animated series. Each character is likeable in their own peculiar way. Thanks so much for the comic relief via your vlogs, too.
Love Corner Gas and wish there could be a sequel. Brent and Lacey has gifted baby and Hank is the godfather lol. Good for you Brent, be like Frank Sinatra and do it your way. Call it Metube 😂
I can honestly understand your viewpoint regarding chasing fame on youtube, following their ideas on how to accomplish that goal and how counter-productive it can be to the creative process that makes people want to create in the first place. Let me just say that I was beyond thrilled when I found my all-time favourite comedian on RU-vid and that he had his own channel, that is SPECTACULAR. It's really easy to tell when someone who started out with a brilliant channel, becomes overwhelmed with RU-vid's definition of what it takes to be successful on their platform. An urgency to meet all of the criteria, begins to seep into their vlogs and videos and viewers begin to lose interest because the viewer can distinguish the difference between someone sincerely loving what they do and someone that does not. I think that RU-vid is a wonderful place to follow your bliss for creating or to journal your life's journey or to display your art and get paid in the process. That is only right. The basic requirement for becoming successful with RU-vid I believe, is to believe that the thing you are creating, is something that you absolutely love to do.
This is great: Brent explains RU-vid! Hi. I'm in the US. A number of actors who had recurring characters on "Corner Gas" (including Fred Ewanuick) were in a movie named "Just Friends," which I really enjoyed. When I checked out the actors' bios, the name "Corner Gas" kept popping up, so I thought I should check it out and I loved it. As someone who's lived in both the city and a small town, it just spoke to me. I've since bought the boxed set and the movie; I hope the animated show is available on DVD at some point too. BTW, my son and I also enjoyed "Hiccups."
I'm in California (yuk) came across Corner Gas by accident about a month ago and watched the entire series. Love the show. I wanted more so that's why I'm watching your youtube stuff. I've watched some of the cast videos and it's great to see you're all just as awesome in real life as your characters in the show. Thank you for making truly great entertainment !
Hi , no pressure butt ha ! Your show , story , presence , saved my life , Im from Texas , the bad part LoL , I have enjoyed all your Material except Hicups an one or two others an your Stand up will Watch an Hear those , I just have not Seen them , YET , Big Fan , Buying your Signature on Ebay soon , Glad to hear about Season 3 of Animated Show , Please Stay you . Bye .
You like my favorite band from Toronto chose to do things your way and screw the rest. I completely respect that because that's how it should be. Besides with all the weirdo's out there you'd think vast numbers would find this page just by the name, "Buttpod." Love the clips, love Corner Gas and looking forward to all your future postings.
@@texlahomagirl9809 That is beyond awesome. I Neils Autograph that someone else got for me long ago. I got into them in roughly early to mid 1977 when I heard 2112 for the first time at 9. I learned to play guitar because of them and saw them from Power Windows to the R40 tour without missing one tour. Despite many obstacles I've faced. They are like the banner says in the Exit Stage Left Concert video. RUSH THE BEST GROUP IN THE GALAXY OR UNIVERSE AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED.
I was actually upset to learn the Corner Gas set was left to deteriorate and was torn down. Corner Gas will forever be my favorite true Canadian comedy. And that Spider - Man pinball machine is cool....lol
My husband and I just finished a summer binge watch of Corner Gas from Gulfport, MS! So now, craving more, I’m searching Brent Butt! I have subscribed here, but I’ll also be checking the .com so I don’t miss a thing! We still need to watch the movie and figure out where we can see the animated Corner Gas. Can’t wait! Thank you for great talent!
I'm in the US, in Seattle. I will always love the NY Times for pointing me to Corner Gas. In case it ever goes off of Amazon I bought the box set. Without going into politics, CGas and your youtubes help me to keep calm these days. And the world can always use videos with happy, much-loved dogs not licking their junk. Thank you, Brent.
Saw your comedy show years ago. Knew it would be clean because Corner Gas is and Yup it was clean and hilarious. Rewatching Corner Gas through Covid and having a laugh. thanks for being you
I follow I Heart British TV on FB and someone there recommended your show. They warned us that it's Canadian, but funny. I certainly agreed! I've watched all the episodes and the movie on Amazon Prime here in Atlanta, GA. Loved them! Thanks for sharing!
Its strange that I probably won't get notified when this channel uploads, but because of its associations I'll probably be told when someone uploads an illegal copy of Corner Gas. RU-vid is funny like that. Keep up the good work Brent, admirable sentiments.
We found it about a month ago..we binge watched it every night and really enjoyed it...then the movie last night..tonight..we start on the animated show..we're from a show biz family so we get it..thanks Brett for bring an enjoyable show that was devoid of the stench from the sewer pipe flowing out of Hollywood..we love some sitcoms from Oz as well..Offspring/Wonderland were two of our favorites..
Hey Brent, just found Corner Gas this year, 2021. We were tired of the typical hollyweird stuff on tv. Corner Gas is a sarcastic breath of fresh air. We are looking for episodes of Hiccups too, also a great show that I never knew I needed.
I want more episodes of Corner Gas. I just discovered it this year and it's my favorite comedy. I'm American and found it on Amazon Prime. Pleaseeeeeeeeeee, more seasons
As an American, I've been in love with the show from the first episode. Wish it as on Netflix because I'd loop it like Parks and Recreation and other super wonderful shows. Wish Letterkenny was available too...but I'd take Corner Gas over anything else.
Yes, "who's going to watch a TV show about a Gas station in Saskatchewan"? Well, when I first saw it, that is the first thing that caught my interest. It's a bit like Oak Island, who in their right mind would go to all that trouble unless there's something worthwhile there? So I watched it, and I watched it, and the show not only failed to disappoint me, it grabbed me by the scruff of the neck and captured my heart. GREAT show! Great cast! I wish I could go visit Dog River. I know that I can't do that, so I got an official CTV "Corner Gas" Tee-Shirt, which I wear PROUDLY. Oh yeah, I'm in the US (that's why I talk funny). Love you guys. Keep being yourselves, because that WORKS.
American here and I have loved Corner Gas for years. How can I see the animated series....you know without piracy. Also, I think according to algorithms plugged into the pentagon computer in 1965, America won the Vietnam war in 1962.
Hey! Watching from Kelseyville, California! LOVE CORNER GAS! Keep making videos - and you are right to forget Google and RU-vid BS. You have the best take on things and just keep going because we all love it! Thank YOU!
Watching from San Jose, CA. A friend from Evansville, IN turned me on to the show and the movie. Watched the series and the movie on Prime and hunger for more. Wish you guys would do more real person episodes.
I love Corner Gas so much I bought the DVDs. By the way, my great-grandmothers last names were Butts and Clutts. Can't make it up. You make the things you like and those of us who like your comedy will follow! I'll always be a Corner Gas groupie! It was a crazy show with a perfect cast. I cut my husband's hair, have for years. He's cheap! Lol
Brent, Corner Gas was my favourite Series when it was on because it showed life in Saskatchewan and why we’re easy going. I’m loving Corner Gas Animated. I can’t wait for Season 2.
Great take on the creative process and how artists have to balance between their ethos and the market. It's obvious you love your work and have your own high standards. You keep doing your thing and we'll keep watching! Thank you for the wonderful world of Corner Gas!
First watched the show in the early 1990's while I was stationed in Tucson, AZ. Ended up in NW Florida, and, in 2019, saw the show available on Amazon Prime. Binge watched all 6 seasons. Just as funny the second time around. Hoping the animated version makes it to the States soon.
Well stated Brent. Thank you for sticking to your principles and keeping it real and honest. I great respect and appreciate your view point. I have even greater respect for you sharing this well stated video. Thank you for all that you do and who you are. Much love from Canmore Alberta. P.S. I love corner gas! I watch the series randomly and it all flows so well throughout the series it’s hard to tell which season it is. Corner Gas is my go to show and watch/listen to it fairly regularly for several years now. Well Done Brent!
Congrats with everything, thank you very much for your show and the people that you got involved with it AND thank you VERY MUCH for these video's and your interaction with us "mere mortals", lol, but seriously, you're a REAL guy (I'm sure that you've got a good comedic comeback for that!!!), very relatable and it's awesome that RELIC's from the past, like The Beachcombers, have another show to make us Canucks proud, great job, EH!!!!!!!!
I find the channels that get sudden big success actually just focus on their own expertise / specific videos they want to exist. And those channels create and lead trends on RU-vid. Ants Canada does quite well, and that's just a channel where a guy talks about his ants. But channels with the absolute biggest volume, over a long period of time, are following that algorithm.
We love the show, and we watch from our home in Iowa on Amazon Prime. I subscribed to your YT channel as soon as I found it! Thanks for being so funny‼️
My husband and I discovered your show this summer on Amazon and LOVE IT! Our kids watch it with us sometimes...I need to remind our 7 year old to not mimic Oscar's "Jackass" comment! My favorite character is Wanda, but I honestly love every single character on the show! They're endearing and funny! East Liverpool, OH
