THANK YOU!!!! I was involved with a local community theater production of "PIPPIN" Sets were built, Costumes were ready...Rehearsals were finished...and Tech Week was done....AND THEN...AND GENTLMEN AND THEN....48 Hours before opening curtain....COVID wiped us off the stage as the theater shut down. We had magic to do...but nowhere to do it. So thank YOU for having this out here for us to enjoy!
I confess, whenever I see Pippin, I always compare it to Fosse. I remember feeling off by the revival because it seemed too cirque de so what? Well, I will say this, this academy gets it! part of the wonder of this song is the way these performers appear out of nowhere, and then appeal to you...when these folks made a stage out of their gymnastics..it is like "yes. These kids knew what the show was, what Fosse intended!" If these kids become the new pippin cast, I know know it is in safe, safe hands.
if my comments offend some, keep in mind these folks made the cheography the stage, instead of the current show which seems to intent on sayign "we are the new cirque de so what" version.
The choreography was inspired. I loved it from the first to last second, Fundifferent1 be damned. Other than circus flips (which of course worked well on Broadway) how else would you impress with fluidity other than the double pirouette?

I welcome you to receive our Creator THIS VERY MOMENT by first acknowledging that you are a sinner in need of our Savior. Welcome Abba Yahweh (Father God) through Yeshua (Jesus the Christ) into your life. Receive grace by believing in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, His death, burial and resurrection. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior whom died on the cross for the sins of ALL human-kind, arose in the 3rd day and currently sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty. You will then be justified in salvation and forever blessed with His abundant love by the Holy Spirit! ❤️❤️❤️ (Zaphaniah 3 : 17; John 6 : 55-59; Psalms 73 : 23-26)
The singing and dancing technique were great, but the choreography was trying too hard and doing way too much for this number. I wanted to scream after the 100th pirouette.
Yes I’m commenting years after & not only did I sing this number when I was 17 I also was in the musical In 2021 (first musical back in aus) the choreography is perfect for the time and place and will always be perfect for kids adults and otherwise Much love
