why would you want to egg on one of the fastest and deadliest bowlers ever to play and brett still bowling 90-95 mile an hour 145-150 ks my god what a champ
No ,piers was saying the England team were playing like pussies vs the short /bodyline stuff the Aussies were dishing out,Lee was just demonstrating how hard it really is.
Still funny that this actually happened. I bet Piers thought that he wasn’t going to go that hard at him. 5/6 balls were just trying to hurt him, 1 ball was trying to bowl him. Well done Lee!
Funny how times change. All the modern day cricketers thought this was hilarious. A lot of the gentlemen from Cricket's yesteryear condemned this as a dangerous pantomime. To be fair, they probably had a point. The visor doesn't really offer much protection if the ball hits you full on. Just ask Daniel Flynn after what Jimmy Anderson did to him. If this was anyone other than Piers Morgan, I'd probably condemn it too. As a low level club cricketer myself and having faced an 80 mph bowler on a couple of occasions, I can't get my head around how a non-professional has any chance at all of facing Lee's pace. Admittedly, Lee's days of bowling 90 plus were long at this point, but I'd guess it's still mid to high eighties. I'd say the chances of coming away from this with an injury is very real as the untrained eye can't get out the way quick enough. I'm just glad it was Piers Morgan facing it and not a nice person.
But Piers did it of his own accord no one forced him. It's the risk everyone takes. Sean Abbott isn't as quick as Lee and he killed someone, it's just the risk you take.
anders christopherson Very true. That wouldn't stand up in other sports however. A normal person wouldn't be allowed to get in the ring and ask to go an adulterated round with Vladimir Klitschko, just because they wanted to. The point of a sport being professional is that you are licensed and considered able to compete on a level playing field against your opposition. As you rightly say, Sean Abbott killed someone of International pedigree, so how is it allowed that an amateur can get up there to have a go, just because he wants to? For the record, I don't like Piers Morgan at all and I personally enjoyed watching it. That said, I'm not sure it's really a good advert for entertainment.
I think Brett was well capable of bowling 90+ here, there's a vid of an Australia/Ireland odi from around this time where he was hitting 91mph. Just six balls to let rip, he wasn't holding back :)
COWARD and that is the worst place to go if the bowler knows that you are a coward i.e back off to square leg. Lee knew that he was frightened and followed him with nearly every ball. The commentators were far too complementary to the big mouth chicken liver.
How did people find this video? Literally not a single person in the comments knows what cricket is or who Brett Lee is, but somehow they're still watching and commenting... how?!
Having watched this more than once, I think that the ball being used is a practice ball as opposed to a day/night white cork ball. i.e the ball being used is most likely non-lethal despite being bowled at 90mp/h by virtue of it being softer than a cork ball. However, even a tennis ball hitting you at that speed will definitely leave a mark in the morning
What did everyone expect to happen? Piers Morgan is just the big mouth/egotistical/opinionated type with no actual tangible ability. If you don't have genuine batting talent, then you've got zero chance of seeing the ball, until it's too late, when the bowler is sending them down at you at around 90mph. Brett Lee was effectively bowling bodyline here and Morgan clearly didn't even know the correct position to take, let alone possess the actual skills needed to effectively deal with such bowling.
He has been blown all over the ground many a times by batsmen. This man in the nets turns out to be quite an old man with no ability to bat whatsoever. This act is absolutely disgusting.
If you offer that you can stop a running away truck with your head, doesnt mean that you should be put up in front of it to bang it. What do you expect ? Bret Lee has been many a times hit out of the ground by capable batsmen from other countries. He has shown himself to be a jerk by doing what he did in this video. I have no respect left of him whatsoever; infact I despise him for this.
Don't know the law in Australia, but you can't be assaulted in the UK as a consenting participant in sport, unless the action falls outside of the rules i.e. A footballer punches another player. Bouncers are a part of cricket. Piers got what Lee lawfully gave him...
UK with this level of irritating law cases (people taking legal action for silly things) is bringing its economy down........ I dont think UK can pay benefits to it't citizens after 5 years....
Yes, that is correct in Australia also. By participating in sport is giving consent to possible injury means you are unable to sue for negligence or other legal action.
I doubt Morgan though he was lucky when he suddenly realised he had just agreed to a fast bowler to bowl at him a hard round missile that might hit his body at 90 Plus miles per hour. He could easily have been seriously injured in this as Piers is not a test match standard batsman. I think he is lucky he got through this without getting seriously injured.
This is what people who say cricket is boring don't get about the technical superiority of cricket. Lee bowled 4 bodyline balls as Piers was advancing and the moment he gets pushed back in his crease, he bowls almost a Yorker that takes out the stumps.
