Foxokon actually, nowadays it's paradox engine. It's a bit more expensive, but it works with artifacts. And everybody knows that artifacts Are the Word.
I personally like Arcane Adaptation (on Merfolk) + Seahunter. For 3 mana, you can tutor any creature from your library directly onto the battlefield. At instant speed
Pretty sure the Palinchron and Phantasmal Image combo doesn't work because you have to sac the Phantasmal Image after targeting it with the bounce ability.
Palinchron is a bitch... Goes not only infinite with Image, but also High Tide/Caged Sun/Gauntlet and also with Deadeye Navigator. Or with two Bouncelands in the Mix you dont need Image but can take any clone.
this gave me an idea for my momir vig deck, tutor for ethereal usher, faerie seer or any scry creature and lab maniac with vig, transmute usher into tunnel vision, name the card I scry to the bottom and mill myself out. super jank but jank is dank
In first combo you can tunnel vision name a card that your opponent doesn’t have, like black lotus, he kills out his deck and you win the game next turn
My Kefnet deck gets infinite mana with [Peregrine Drake or Great Whale] + [Deadeye Navigator or [Archaeomancer + Ghostly Flicker]], then just draw my deck and BSZ everyone. Drawing cards and forcing everyone else to also draw cards is the most glorious way to win a game of EDH imo. (Backup win con is Lab Maniac if someone has hexproof.)
Unesh is the best!!! I acually use the Palinchron combo in that deck alongside other combos. Palinchron can also combo with Panharmonicon (Why not include it Seth!?), extraplanar lense, caged sun, gauntlet of power and nykthos with enough devotion. There are more possibilitys outside mono blue, like mana reflection.
#5 is technically infinite mana you liar :P I have a patron of the moon moonfolk deck I don't use storm cauldron but it can lock people out time to remodify it. This is also a fun hard lock for opponents Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar and Processed portal more janky imo.
Can't wait for the Izzet episode in this series. Dualcaster mage + Token Copy Spell/Baral's Expertise/Ghostly Flicker. So many turn six game breaking combos.
I like Teferi, Temporal Archmage as my commander. Some fun combos include Teferi+Chain Veil Dramatic reversal+ isochron scepter Reality shift+isochron scepter+ paradox engine
Losing to tunnel vision feels super bad. Every time i've been killed by it it's been in the early game before I've had a chance to play, so I just got to sit and watch because I wasn't playing counter magic.
Honestly, Deadeye Navigator is a way more effective and less fragile way to interact with Palinchron. Let's you generate mana way faster, and can also act as part of the wincon if you have, say, a Venser, Shaper Savant in play.
Its not mono blue, but my favorite blue commander is Locust God, there's just something so fun about having only your commander on the field then suddenly playing a howl of the horde with a winds of change to unleash a horde of locusts
I personally use Aphetto + Bracers in many of my decks. The utility is just absurd, and since both cards are pretty decent on their own, most people don't even notice the interaction until you've gotten it online. Not to mention that the alchemist is a morph creature.
I dont see how knowledge pool let's you play cards at sorcerery speed. You can play any nonland card for free. Does not have to be instant speed. So the combo does not work
Teferi forces opponents to only cast at sorcery speed, and when you attempt to cast the spell from knowledge pool the trigger is on the stack. Sorcery speed cannot be cast when anything is on the stack. Therefor your opponent is locked down. Also let me show you Teferi's rulings "If a spell or ability lets an opponent cast a card as part of its effect (such as suspend and rebound do), that opponent can’t cast that card since the currently resolving ability is still on the stack. This is true even if that card is an instant" Thats why it works
My friends hate my omniscience, enter the infinite combo. I have psykosis crawler and lab maniac as a win con, I make sure there's an opening and as soon as I cast omniscience it's over even without enter the infinite.
i'm missing Future sight + top + cost reduction (for artifacts) = draw your library (since you can play top from your library for free and then use it's ability to draw a card)
Wait to activate charbelcher at end of turn by threatening people with their lives. Can stack a Temporal Mastery on top to kill the other players on your next 2 turns. Only problem is Krosan Grip...
Seth Im prety sure that next week should be 10 more blue infinite combos with all the comments here ;) I would like for the next issue of this series for you to mention more alternative cards for the combos. Like palinchron + any mana doubler like high tide, or patron of the moon with anything that can bounce a land (like a ravnica karoo), or explaining intruder alarm a bit more deeply (like the real combo is intruder alarm plus anything that taps to create a creature, and the myrs are just one way of achieving it). I feel this would make the video more informative, and helps new players understand more the combo itself.
Also, if you do make the second video, here is my one of my favorite blue jank combos: Magosi, the Waterveil + Rings of Brighthearth + anything that taps to untap a permanent (like Fatestitcher or deserted temple). You tap for an extra turn, then put the untap trigger on the stack, copy it, untap the land and the other combo piece and infinite turns in a janky way.
haven't seen many other decks try this but i run hidden strings and isochron scepter in my talrand deck, kinda janky but as long as i have a mana rock that taps for 2 or more i have infinite storm count and infinite drakes as long as talrand is out and about.
I loved to play Erayo until he got banned X'D After that I had the problem that my blue deck had no commander and I testet a lot of different commanders with counterspells and guile. Altough some were kicked out after some time. Currently it uses both Teferis (lg & pw), Baral, Sakashima, Kaho, Kira, Nezahal (directly after RoI) and Tomorrow each of them works as a commander. The whole Deck builds arround drawing cards, countering spells and bouncing creatures. I actually love Kaho as a commander the most evacuation with her is so much fun xD. And If one uses Trainings Ground she even get's bettet. Altough I Don't own it but someone mustly plays with it so I steal it with Guile or something else xD
He uses the word counter as a key word which is why he was one of the strongest up till now. But Kira wasn't half bad to protect more of my Threats. Teferi PW helps getting bug threats out by ramping more while the LG allows me to wait if I need a coutner or play a creature. Kaho is mostly my weakest option to have most fun XD
With the old Retraction Helix/Banishing Knack combo note that you don't need to add special 0 drop artifacts to make it work AND you can make infinite mana off of it! Use Sol Ring! Tap it for 2, bounce it, play it for one, tap for 2, repeat. The same goes for any mana rock that makes more than it costs, mana vault, crypt, Grim monolith. Also things like Everflowing Chalice or Astral Cornucopia you can cast for 0 and are also useful when you aren't comboing! Added bonus, Trinket mage will fetch almost all of these for you. This combo is even sweeter with other colours as you can take advantage of Prowess, noncreature spell triggers, Jeskai Ascendancy type effects etc.
Lol these combos are sweet. I had no idea about some of them. I like the creature/artifact untapper. I like Grand Architect+Pili Pala. Also Krark Clan Ironworks+Salvaging Station+Flayer Husk to make infinite colorless Mana and morbid triggers. As far as blue commanders I usually play fun ones like Kami of the Crescent Moon but if I wanna win I like Venser, Thassa and Talrand. Teferi is a good creature in the 99 but I use him rarely as he makes the game unfun for my opponents. Thanks for the video and the new jack knowledge Seth!
MTGGoldfish Really? They let you get the combo out in modern? It seems a little too risky for modern with all the removal in the format. I mean if you can stick those two and activate it then Walking Ballista looks pretty good after that.
Yeah! People seem to like it, so I think we'll keep going (roughly once a month) through the rest of the mono-color combinations and then through the multi-color combinations.
different as in using different cards? probably 20 or more. different as in different variants(blinking; mana duplication; cloning bouncing, etc)? 10 systematically different could be a challenge.
