Timing: pee on your second “urge”. This helped me a lot when my Pelvic Floor teherapist told me, I was often waiting until my 4th or so or waiting until my “break” at work. I go by my second urge and that has helped me.

You are wonderful. I use your Mississippi-1, Mississippi-2 . . . technique. It works perfectly, especially when I think, "Oh no I won't make it to the toilet in time." It literally suspends my body until I get to the toilet and only when I decide to release my muscles. You are so smart!

Do YOU void Bladder after 2 hours? I drink water at 1PM & I void Bladder at 3PM on the 2nd natural urge ( natural I said because no external simulation like Running water tap, no B Vitamins, Pre & Post Workouts)

@@strongsyedaa7378 It depends. When I am at work I void less often. My body seems to relax at home. When I get a vague signal I know I have to drop everything and get to the toilet, but only at home. Drinking water is better than drinking anything else.

Hi! Thanks for another wonderful video. About 6 mos ago, I started to turn on the bathroom tap, so the sound of the running water would trick my mind into having a last pee before sleeping.( 🤔old child trick), BUT what has happened now, is that after I rinse out my coffee cup or fill a pot with water, I suddenly realize I had to per badly and have almost not made it to the toilette a few times. I figured that my little trick, was now backfiring! I will not be doing that anymore and hope the urgency subsides! Also, thanks for the tip on not stooping over my IPad when trying to have a bowel movement. I always felt it relaxed me into going so I wasn’t concentrating so much.

Thank you so much for your wonderful insightful videos! They're helping me manage my bladder prolapse and Pudendusneuralgia (which is unfortunately hardly known by doctors and therapists here in Germany and took many years and so many false diagnosis until it was discovered). I'd like to add two further tipps to your list, if I may. 1. Many women don't know that they should dry themselves from front to back, in order to avoid bringing bacteria from the anus to their vagina. Even I learned this first in my adult years. 2. Don't use recycled toilet paper. As much as we want to think and act ecologically, this is damaging our health, as recycled paper contains ink particles, which shouldn't get in contact with our gens. Thanks once more and looking forward to more of your videos.

Quick question. My acupuncturist suggested that females and probably males stop and start their urinary flow during urination to improve their pelvic floor strength . we are both in our early 50s and experiencing that decrease in muscle tone . I've heard that that is not a good thing but she says that that is very good for letting one know how hard to clench for a Kegel and to do it during every pee. I've been doing it for a couple weeks now and feel a little stronger in that area. what are your thoughts? And thank you for a great vid Dr!

You can do this a as an every-once-in-a-while check-in to see about your muscular strength and control, but it should NOT be done on a regular basis.

Hi! For "Don't push to pee," I realize that sometimes I do push just a little to release it *at first,* but I'm not sure if that's ok? I'm not forcing the liquid out or anything at all, it's just a really slight "push" at first to open the spincther. Is this the same thing? Thank you. ❤

Guess if you can’t have a pee as soon as you sit down without pushing your stomach muscles then you don’t need to go to the toilet! Saying that I sometimes do push a little bit to get started but as soon as I get the burny feeling that I’m about to start urinating I stop pushing and just let my bladder empty as it sees fit, i don’t push my stomach while I’m having a piss lol

Love this. A couple more are no JIC ( just in case) PEEING. Like you said it causes frequency / urgency issues. And I also learned at a course. No peeing in the shower. That you can condition yourself to have to pee at the sound of running water and can lead to urgency. Any good tips for patients with slow flow? So it takes them longer than the 8 secs to void?

YES, I talk about "JIC"-ing in another video, somewhere amongst the 500 that I already have published... LOL! I can't believe I forgot about that acronym (JIC)... such a good one. I also talk about no peeing in the shower (in another video) as it can associated the sound and feel of warm water with "letting go." If you have slow flow it *might* be an issue of excess pelvic floor tension. In this case you'll want to take your time, really focus on relaxing the pelvic floor, and perhaps rock your pelvis back and forth gently after you're done to make sure you've gotten out every last drop.

Thank you so much for posting this video. My naturopath (called Heilpraktikerin in Germany where I live) is helping me with the beginning of menopause (I am 50) and some very unpleasant symptoms. It feels like a bladder infection but isn‘t (I‘ve been to the doctor) but have also had problems with „normal“ bowel movement (started over a month ago with very frequent ones, and now sometimes feels Iike I have to go but can‘t) The pain (usually bladder) changes, is sometimes sharp, or sometimes just generally uncomfortable. I wake up very often in the night to pee but it is very painful and little comes out. My question is have you heard of many kinds of symptoms like this? My naturopath has given me Sepia 1000 and some acupuncture on my ears. There was an improvement but now I feel it is no longer better. It is very unpredictable. Pelvic floor exercises? I will go back to the naturopath because she is very good, but I was wondering if others starting menopause experience these symptoms, and how they deal with it. The naturopath says due to a change in hormones, the mucus membranes change and the whole area is irritated (bladder, urinary tract and rectum). Sorry this is so long.
@pattiw6402
@pattiw6402 Год назад
Karen, I started having those same symptoms and after about a year I’ve seen different doctors found out it was due to my pelvic floor prolapsed. When we start hitting menopause the muscles tissues etc. start becoming thin and weak either strengthening the muscles with exercises or using DHEA or estrogen cream inserted vaginally will help 😊
@karenbaumgartel6077
@karenbaumgartel6077 Год назад
@@pattiw6402 thanks for your input. Since all this started now several years ago, I found out that sugar and too many bad carbs (low quality noodles, white, mass produced breads etc.) exacerbate that yucky feeling of having a bladder infection. My bowels seem to be better. I cannot drink any alcohol and only very small amounts of carbonated drinks. A midwife friend of mine also said my symptoms are not surprising, considering that as a child I had a lot of bladder infections and because of this, it was recommended that I had a surgical procedure to widen the urinary tract (not 100% sure as I was little and can't remember). She says an invasive procedure like that will leave scars that are bound to cause problems later in life when the hormones start changing. I also had a cervical conization (because of HPV) between my two kids, and the first child was a C-section, so there are at least 3 surgical procedures that cause scarring in that whole general area. No wonder I have been suffering! However, now I know more, so can usually prevent the pains. Also, I go to a gym here in Germany (called Kieser Training) and they have a good machine for training the pelvic floor, amongst other things. Phew, that was long again! Good luck to you!

Go to a urologist. My doctor works with the entire pelvic floor. I have had so many test done. Every thing is the same. Every thing is bad in my pelvic floor. I saw my doctor Tuesday. Now I'm waiting on a call with an appointment for a permanent stimulator. I had a trial stimulator. These stimulators are high tech and can help. I have two not bad prolapse. Not sure if I will have surgery for that. I didn't know I had prolapse until an MRI. I had two when I was 25 and believe me I knew I had them major bad. I have bladder problems. No incontinence. My main problem is my rectum. It's not in the best shape. No surgery for it. So the stimulator is my last resort. A new stimulator just came out where a person can have MRI'S. I'm so happy about that. It's called Axonics stimulator. It's very high tech. I just pray this gets me better. Some doctors use botox but it can be dangerous. Make sure you see a specialty doctor. Pelvic floor exercises are good. Good luck with your problems. Hope you get better. It's no fun have pelvic floor problems.

I wasn't clear on your 8 seconds pee suggestion. I have pelvic floor dysfunction for 8+ yrs. I had prostate surgery in June 2022 and it didn't help at all. I do great liquid restriction by or before 12 noon, and dinner several hours before bedtime. I have nocturia; awakening 3 to 6 times per night and after the 3rd or so awakening have problems falling back asleep. Each awakening takes me out of bed and back to sleep for 30 min to 1 hr, so I lose a lot of sleep. And during the day I must think relaxing thoughts to start or restart my stream to empty as much as possible in hopes of being able to wait more time in between bathroom uses so not sure how I can stick to 8 seconds. I have seen many urologists and have had many tests. One late last year thought my symptoms were solely pelvic causes, then later, with no additional tests he rethought his answer and told me he thought both my tight pelvic floor and the prostate were contributing. A renowned NYC voiding expert (has written hundreds of scholarly articles on voiding) performed urodynamics and a cystoscopy and told me most patients who have pelvic floor tightness and prostate blockage - this is caused by the prostate tissue blockage over years and years of trying to compensate to empty which tightens the pelvic floor and not to return for pelvic floor therapy until I had the prostate tissue removed as PT would be unlikely to work until the contributing cause was removed. However, the surgery didn't help at all and I have been going for PT every week since mid-July 2022 and at home exercises but still no change whatsoever in my symptoms. I generally have no pain, mostly frequency and incomplete bladder emptying, very poor sleep, and a lot of the day my bladder feels uncomfortable. I would like to empty more completely but with the starting and stopping of my stream through relaxing visualizations - it takes me a few minutes during the day, and 8 to 15 min ease session at bedtime awakenings (I think because I am more dedicated to emptying more so I can sleep longer in between bladder urges). Now knowing my history, is your 8 second emptying rule still one I should try, and if so, couldy you please clarify that suggestion? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for sharing your story. Honestly, I would recommend seeking another PT for a second opion. They might provide additional information that can help you. It's important to work on both the mind and body to overcome pelvic challenges. The Overcome program for men can help. This playlist has great videos that can help bit.ly/MalePainPlaylist

@@vibrantpelvichealth During 2015 to 2017 I did see other pelvic therapists but only for 1-3 sessions each and no improvements then but that was before I had my prostate surgery. The PT I see has been doing only pelvic floor therapy for 20+ yrs, my urologist recommended her and she also used to be the PT therapist at Dr Wise's (author Headache in your Pelvic book) retreat .She is Zarina Vitebsky in NJ. Do you know anything about her reputation? Is your suggestion only to seek another PT's opinion because no improvement over 4 months? Is your Male Pain playlist also just as applicable to someone like me with a tight pelvic floor but really no pain? Thanks for your advise Dr Bri. Bob

I always pee in the shower when I shower, lol. I assume that is an okay time to push pee out?
@vibrantpelvichealth
@vibrantpelvichealth 3 года назад
As long as you're intentionally peeing in the shower and not just getting into the habit of "letting things go" as soon as the warm water touches your skin. Reason being is that can create a conditioned response of unintentionally releasing your urine, which can (for some people) create issues (over time) including urinary urgency, frequency, and even loss of control... especially when you're around running water!

Also, you should never "push" pee out. Sit down, relax completely, and let it flow. Bearing down repeatedly creates a lot of downward pressure and can contribute to prolapse! (Who knew there was so much to peeing, right? 😂😉)

my daughter has already got PF issues because she admitted recently to sitting on the toilet for hours while gaming! By relaxing way too much over a toilet bowl the floor has weakend and she is still a child. Please check on the younger ones in the house who think toilet is the place for gaming.

I am sorry to hear that. I would definitely recommend taking her to a local pelvic floor PT. In the meantime, you may want to watch Dr Bri PF's video for teens. I will also let her know about your suggestion. ~ Leila

Question…sit or stand to pee for men.?
@vibrantpelvichealth
@vibrantpelvichealth Год назад
Good question. Honestly, do what works best for you . Typically when men sit, pelvic and hip muscles are relaxed, making urination easier.
