It takes a particular skilled actor to make you love a character, find him incredibly funny, be disgusted by him, and feel sorry for him all at the same time! David Earl has crafted an incredible character... I could honestly watch a whole show focused on him. I was so pleased when he finally found a love interest! Go Brian! 😁

Absolutely, if you watch the outtakes David never breaks, it’s always the others..and he has the longest lines out of everyone ..funnily enough Ricky is the worst he cracks up all the time and he wrote the show! Talk about laugh at your own jokes. 😂

@Proper if you watch the outtakes you will see that many of lines are improvised on the spot and if makes Ricky laugh, then he tells them to keep the lines in.

That finally scene with him was really touching, I honestly think Brian's the most complex character in the show and you never feel hatred for him, you only feel sorry for what he's been through and how he copes, brilliant writing on Ricky's part.

Ricky always loves characters like this. Those weird people that you find that aren't necessarily likeable but aren't outwardly horrible either. I feel as though Ricky draws from his personal experiences with weird people and puts them in his shows

Throughout the whole of Afterlife I was laughing at Brian’s misfortunes right up until his final scene. Immediately felt awful for ever laughing at him. That’s the genius of this character and Ricky Gervais.

Genius,,, just all the little looks and movements perfection.. It’s great, for me it’s the bath scene. When the mum says the water is to hot & he’ll damage his testicles, and Brain asks the mum “do you mind” before he looks, rather than asking James if he minds lolol

Brian Gittins is an amazing character that I've loved for years. Created by David Earl many years ago, I used to watch his youtube videos. The black and white shorts with him and the character Angelos are little genius gems. I highly recommend them if you like the character. Netflix, if you're reading this, please give David Earl his own Gittins series. It would be the funniest show ever! Earl is comedy gold.

I just remember the episode with his "brother" around the table, and also talking to the Granny of Hannah's boyfriend("It's like a Naked Mole Rat". Oh man, that Visual!). When those scenes started, I said "Please no, no please, I don't want to die!", and laughed even harder the 2nd time. Then come to RU-vid for the Outtakes(Derek & Kev in the caravan trailer. Gervais: "Oh God, I don't know what to do!"), and After Life(Brian & James eating cake)
