look at his matches in Japan.....Hogan was tough

Some people like to act like Hulk is just a paper-fighter, that off-camera he's just some puffed up wimp. But we've all heard the story of Matsuda breaking Terry's leg and him coming back after it was healed and saying "I'm ready for the next lesson.". And I've seen Hogan in the ring against Stan Hansen and Bruiser Brody in Japan, if he could run a full match with those Potato-Masters then he was no pushover

Agreed. Haters like to talk a lot of crap but in reality they're just full of crap.

Even if Verne had won the shoot fight, it was still a terrible decision by him. If you’re biggest star and draw is seriously considering leaving, then you work like hell behind the scenes to keep him around. If that means giving him a higher cut of his merchandise sales and putting the World Title on him, then so be it. Verne basically handed Hulk to his biggest competitor.

sounds like hogan's a lot tougher than he gives himself credit for. i read his book & he does seem to be a doormat. plus i know he hates confrontation. it has a lot to do with his late brother allan.

A lot of the wrestlers fans look at as really tough they do so because those wrestlers have a history of getting into and winning locker room fights and bar brawls, but I learned a long time ago that just because a person doesn't go looking for fights that doesn't mean they can't fight. Would I compare Hogan to Kurt Angle or Meng? No, of course not, but he's no wimp either
@jpbart1390
@jpbart1390 2 года назад
@@FerretJohn true that. it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for. those that big note themselves more often than not are really piss ant bullies that can be fucked up by a more intelligent fighter.

@@jpbart1390 brock lesnar is a perfect example of that.

Brock's a different kettle of fish. With his MMA credentials, it's obvious how tough he is. He's also quite introverted, so he'd be hard to predict. I guess that's why Hogan put him over along with Kurt Angle. They have better credentials than the Hulkster.@@johnnybravado7141

Hulk fought a lot of tough wrestlers in the 1980s his matches with Andre ,Roddy Piper , Paul Orndorff and Greg Valentine our just a few names

I never thought Hogan wasn't tough. It's that I never thought he was very bright.

As a businessman in the wrestling business he's the smartest. He became the biggest star in the history of the business. He knew the art of the deal. He made millions over the years. Cut his own deals, creative control. The man is very very smart.
@johnnybravado7141

@@acersteel3735 That's why ignorant fans should get over guys like Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger never getting main event pushes and why Hogan-haters should shut up and get a clue. The more you know about doing business the more successful you become. That's the just the way it is. Like I said before. It's Hogan-haters that are not very bright.

Hulk Hogan front face locked a 62-year-old man while outweighing him by over 100 lbs of pumped-up steroids! Congratulations Hulk, according to the stooge Jerry Brisco you are a world-class shooter now just like all those Oklahoma wrestling legends. And Brisco, Verne could stretch Dick Hutton any day of the week and you and your brother twice on Sunday! Nobody remembers Dick Hutton. But they remember Verne Gagne so if Hutton was so great why didn't he make a million dollars in wrestling and become a legend like Verne? Oh, that's right a hometown ref raised Verne's hand so Dick Hutton was screwed for life! You were all jealous of Verne and none of you could kick his ass, especially you Jerry!

But Verne Gagne wasn't your typical 62 year old...he was legitimately strong and the wrestlers feared him....he can break your legs and or arms...we would have been in the UFC if the UFC was around then....he was the real deal even in his 60's...Verne Gagne was beating up men in ther 20's & 30's in street brawls and in bars...he was no joke and real shooter. But Verne would never mess with Lou Thesz & Danny Hodge...or Ed the strangler Lewis, you had guys that would be UFC fighters if UFC was created then..legitimate badasses....There wasn't one guy who was the toughest back in the first Golden Era of Pro wrestling in the 1940's/1950's/1960's....you always had a guy more dangerous then you back then. The only legitimate shooters now are Brock Lesner, Bobby Lashley, Matt Riddle, and they just signed Gable Stevenson a All American coligant wrestler, NCAA champion, Olympian....they have a few legitimate badass now. But back then you had a whole bunch of shooters. Verne Gagne was one the greatest amature Wrestlers. Verne Gagne was scary dangerous and would cripple any indie DARLINGS today. I do agree that Verne Gagne would annihilate Jerry Briscoe...but his brother that's a different story because Jack Brisco was also legitimately scary dangerous and a real shooter much tougher then Jerry.

@@jiovanna4136 Where do you get that Street-Fights and Bars story? Verne was a legit shooter in 1948 but I doubt he'd been in a legit competition in over 35 years at the time of his thing with Hulk, certainly he hadn't been in the gym on a regular basis, and as far as I can tell he wasn't One of the Boys who'd go out to the corner bar and look for trouble after the show, he went back to the Office and do the things the Boss did. However, as the old saying goes There's no fool like an old fool, Verne wasn't the first old fool to think he could still do what he did 40 years prior and certainly not the last. Now as for Gopher's statement, as I heard it Verne went after Hulk, Hulk didn't attack him, Hogan could have done a lot more damage to Verne, but all he did was hurt Verne's pride

@@FerretJohn His son Greg Gagne was telling us that on IG live, Greg Gagne, was saying everytime Verne Gagne went to bars in the 1980's, in his 60's, he would end up having to pick him up at the police station and they would end up getting sued on a few occasions because Verne would put them in the hospital, one guy had a severely broken Jaw and one had a broken arm and it took his dad a few years to pay them off because they were having money problems as it is. And he said his father would be underestimated because of his age and he would end up putting them in hospitals and embarrassing them when they would start stuff with him in bars and restaurants. He said his dad was a good man but was very egotistical and very old school. He said he even had a hard time with his father getting into fights and arguments at his nursing home before he died...he actually unintentually killed a 97 year old chemist when Verne Gagne throw him down to the floor and he never recovered and died, the man's family didn't want to press charges and let it go because both had Alzheimer's. Greg Gagne had to keep coming to the nursing home everytime his father got into a fight or disputes. His son said his dad feared nobody and would die fighting 50 people and even if he lost a fight he wouldn't back down and would fight with all he got...he comes from the WWII generation. But yeah he was saying during early 1980's his dad would drink a lot and go to bars and he would have to come pick his dad up after a brawl or when his father would knock a man out...because people would underestimate his father because he was in his 60's. But they forget my dad never stops running 30 miles a day, weight lefting 300lbs a day and still learning wrestling amaturly and he was also had a boxing coach who would come and train him how to spar for hours...so he was still in physically good condition up until he turned 80.
