I’m a Sweet fan since my earliest childhood. We grew up and danced on their music. Great songs and hits’ starting with Funny Funny in 1971. Hits every year again and again with Love is Like Oxygen in 1978 as their last song reaching the top 10 of the charts. They had tremendous succes in their glory years. Even today, in 2022, many people around the globe still enjoy their music. That is the upside. On the downside, the booz, unhealthy lifestyle and irregular lives on the road caused a high toll. Brian seemed to be a jewel of a character, but being the heaviest drinker of the band caused a wig between them. The alcohol litterally destroyed his young life causing an early death. Very sad story, alcohol abuse is an absolute killer. Steve Priest mobed to the USA and remarried and started a family life. Financially, it was not always easy, but he continued sideways as a musician. But also here, his eating, drinking and living habits caused he grew old before his time and passed away way too young. Mick Tucker was traumatised by the death of his wife ( in a bath). He rejoined Andy on the road in the mod 80’s, but he had health problems as well. He continued touring with Andy, but finally passed away also quite young. Too young. The only remaining original Sweet member is Andy Scott. His background was somewhat different from the other boys. He started working in a bank at young age prior to join Sweet. He also did the whole crazy scene in the 70’s, but knew when to stop. He’s overweight, but keeps it under control. He survived even prostate cancer. Andy is a perfectionist as a musician, bot always an easy person to deal with, but he’s also tougher on himself. Probably the reason he’s still around. With the years, he became even milder. He is still touring and succeeds in gathering great musicians around him, reviving the harder Sweet songs of the 70’s and later on. He’s the only Sweet member who got over the 70. Myself, I am happy to know he’s still around and singing although he’s not jumping on the stage anymore. So sad to see how the lives of Brian, Mick and Steve ended wat too soon.
Heute würde den Jungs ... vor allem dem Brian, .. geholfen werden können. Es ist einfach sehr schade, dass sich vor 50 Jahren niemand um die Folgen des absolut stressigen Lebens dieser Musik-Band gekümmert hat 😢
Ich bin mit ihnen groß geworden, als papa joe in den Charts begann war ich gerade mal 12 und hing am Tastenradio fest. Eine Supertolle Zeit und auch die folgenden Discojahre!!!!
Die Originalbesetzung war einfach die beste. Die folgenden Bands der Musiker z.T.unter dem Bandnamen ,,Sweet "brachten keine Erfolge mehr hervor. Ihre Hits bleiben aber unvergessen. Habe ,,The Sweet "selbst einmal bei einem Konzert 1977 gesehen. Es waren sehr gute Livemusiker,aber Brian Connolly hatte damals schon gewisse Mengen Alkohol auf der Bühne konsumiert.
Super Band.Ich höre die Musik heute noch gerne. Leider hat der gute Mann den Erfolg nicht verkraftet und mit seinen Alk - konsum sich selbst aus geknockt. Aber er ist nicht der einzige Star, dem es so ergangen ist.
Es war nicht unbedingt sein Erfolg der ihn fertiggemacht hat sondern seine Lebensgeschichte die ihn oft sehr traurig machte und da hatte der Alkohol leichteres Spiel

@@utegorosics3436 liebe Ute, das ist mir auch aufgefallen. Brian lächelt oder lacht sehr selten auf Fotos. Dabei hatte er doch so schöne Augen und ein ganz liebes Lächeln. Im Grunde war er eine arme Seele die leider sein Heil im Alkohol suchte. Es ist einfach nur traurig😥😥😥😥

It is very sad, didn't agree with labour passing the licensing law for extended hours back in the 80s, it could only get worse than it already was in the uk, the tories and liberals tried to delay this law but was unsuccessful.
Zum Schluss die letzten Jahre vor seinem Tod da war sein körperlicher Verfall deutlich zu sehen...er war ein so schöner Mann mit einer unvergleichlichen Stimme und Charisma so traurig und schade was der Alkohol aus ihm machte
@@MaxsMa2001Einem Suchtkranken kann man nur dann helfen, wenn er selbst zur Erkenntnis kommt, dass er in seinem Leben mit dem Suchtkonsum so nicht mehr weiter machen kann und aus innerster Überzeugung die Sucht bekämpfen will.

If he hadn’t been bashed and kicked in the throat causing voice problems I think he would have maybe brushed himself off and got back to his best but his voice and range never recovered….very sad but it seems he was his worst enemy 😢 with the alcohol…..rest in peace Brian .
