I made the exact point yesterday, I loved the idea that any issue no matter how crucial in the US politics will be bipartasianed to serve the interest of a failed 2 party system and media cooperation uninterested in the truth, no mater how it affects humanity. Look up 'These final hours'! It's an Australian movie but the premise is something I had never seen done in a movie. I remember it was pretty decent as well.

This movie is a documentary just like Idiocracy I was not shocked from how politics, political correctness, human relationships, conspiracy theories and the rest was shown and its exactly how it is on what we are dealing with. People who turn anything off after twenty minutes have no right to have an opinion. You can argue that films/books/etc should capture its audience straight away but that is so vanilla. Also, as it’s a Netflix film people will have other distractions which makes it easier to turn it off. Guarantee these people wouldn’t leave the cinema twenty minutes in, and if they did would be smaller percentage than the ones claiming they turned it off

I loved the portrayal of people. It showed us at our best at being manipulated. We are like sheep. We look for any reason not to discover our true environment. So in the end is about people denying science as a whole, it could be an asteroid, climate change, a pandemic, whatever, now days peopl have become stupid and the movie deals on how dumb humanity has become, we are all focused on politics, economy, technology, power and war that we just stopped listen to scientists, and the worst thing is that we don't even care. But I think the film is way more deeper than that, because it also has the message about what matter most and I got a sense that it is the people around us, our relationships and the animals who share this world with us, that's what matter most. And just being conscious about that, because one day this world is going to turn into shit and we just have to take a moment and appreciate that beauty as long as we are still here because is not going to last forever. That helped a generation realize that world sources are limited and we should focus on our environment. However, some people got evolved and deeply concerned about it. However, in the last 20 years, there’s almost no global organization that is promoted by the mainstream media and reach billions of people. Instead of that, people got social media. Even in a country like Turkey, every way you look around you see a mine, a factory, buildings, highways and such. The temperatures jumped to 50 Celsius which has never been experienced in history. Eventually, it turned out that fire zones already determined as mining search areas🤦‍♂️ the fucking politics and some Canadian-Turkish company behind all this shit. This makes me emotional about the surroundings I guess 🤔

The Chelyabinsk meteor gave no warning because it came from the direction of the Sun. NASA is working on a space telescope that can spot asteroids coming from the Sun's direction, but it isn't expected to launch until 2026.

How precise and concise one communicates is how to 'judge' your teachers

He’s a nice bloke who knows his stuff. However I can’t watch his programmes like Universe as it’s so incredibly dumbed down. He goes over and over the most basic stuff. I would like him to do a serious astronomy programme.

He is like Carl Segan in my opinion. His commentary is just awesome to listen to an I wish he was doing more of this now a days.

@@Wellorep He is no Carl Sagan. He got a D in maths and somehow got a place in university for being in a socialist pop band briefly. He became a professor - media (because on TV) and not physics - which is his field. Kind of an honourary position. His students rate him one of the worst at the uni department. He has done very little research and has not many papers published. None of it groundbreaking in any way, which is expected. To put him as one of the leaders in his field is wrong. He is also not an expert in climate.

movie was an extreme, if someone discovers now what happened in the movie it would be a big deal however the movie uses the comet as a metaphor for climate change and other things

Unfortunately to many of us are and that's why we are doomed either by a comet climate and habitat destruction or illnesses and lack of food or resources. The more "advanced" humanity becomes, the more ignorance we accept it seems
