Just an absolutely brilliant scientist. We are fortunate that he also has the ability to explain truly complex concepts and topics in ways that a layperson can understand. The insights about existence, and life, that he brings out in “Until the end of time”, as well as his ability to bring Biological Physic topics to a wide audience, is a truly rare gift - from him to us, really! Thank you Dr. Greene!

@@davidlloyd3116 Yep! For example if you watch your friend fall into a blackhole, you'll see him freeze at the event horizon. He didn't actually freeze. Time has slowed down so much that it appears still from YOUR persective and from your FRIEND'S perspective, the universe speeds up so fast that behind him, he might see the end of earth, the death of the sun and eventually the death of the last blackhole and then the death of the universe all in the matter of seconds. That's why he'll appear frozen on the event horizon and you could observe him till the end of humanity provided you could see in the entire spectrum of EM radiation and not just the visible spectrum.

According to special relativity gravity doesn't alter time. It's velocity that alters time. Traveling at a velocity relative to the Earth time passes at a rate of 1. The closer you get to traveling the speed of light the slower time becomes till you reach the speed of light when time becomes zero. The reason why Einstein assumed time would slow down when nearing a black hole is because as you approached a black hole it's gravity would cause you to accelerate. This means it is not gravity causing the time dilation but instead it is velocity. Thus, traveling at 100,000 km/s time would appear to an outside observer to progress at a slower rate, around 0.33 all the way up to a velocity of about 300,000 km/s when time would become zero. Traveling faster than light, say 400,000 km/s then theoretically time would reverse at a rate of -0.33. This happens because you would be traveling 100,000 km/s faster than the speed of light which is around 300,000 km/s. A person then if they could slow down while approaching a black hole using reverse thrusters could come to a stop outside the theorized event horizon and would experience time at a rate of 1. Even though the spacecraft was close to the mass of the black hole time dilation could be avoided simply by slowing down to a velocity relative to the motion of Earth. In every instance, regardless of the nearby mass and gravity we measure time as passing at a rate of . Time is a measurement tied to motion not gravity. To put this in perspective, a car driving 10 hours at a constant speed of 60 km/h can travel 600 km. The same car can travel 5 hours at a constant speed of 120 km/h and will have also traveled 600 km. The faster one travels the slower time passes. Time is not really being dilated. It's just a measurement. When the star called S4716 orbits the supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy it takes 4 earth years to orbit it because it's traveling so fast. Time is not really dilated because it's not real. It's a measurement to express distance and velocity. According to theorists the star S4716 reaching a velocity of 8,047 km/s should appear to slow down as it gets close to the black hole, become time dilated but it doesn't happen. Why? Because time is just a measurement used to express distance and velocity. It changes with velocity. If the star was traveling twice that velocity it would only take 2 Earth years to orbit instead of 4. Do you see now how this time dilation idea can be misunderstood, even by experts? Time doesn't really change. Not even when traveling at c. When a body is traveling at c to an outside observer it would appear to travel any distance in an instant because time can no longer be measured. It's motion would put it outside our frame of reference and would suddenly disappear and become invisible. The body could travel the entire width of our visible universe, say around 93 billion light years in an instant. To us the body traveling at c would appear to be in two places at once. Only because I'm going by this reference frame or measurement of time, distance and velocity. This is why quantum entanglement was theorized in the EPR thought experiment and later became the EPR paradox. It was called the EPR paradox because it contradicted Einstein's general relativity, where light takes time to travel great distances. According to special relativity because light travels at 300,000 km/s then time dilates to become zero. When time becomes zero then the light particle can travel any distance in zero time. Now, if time is zero then distance also becomes zero while velocity becomes infinite, or instant. Here is the part where special relativity conflicts with general relativity. General relativity claims that nothing, not even information can travel faster than light. But according to special relativity and time dilation, light would be able to travel any distance in zero time. General relativity and special relativity completely disagree with the other. GR says light takes time to travel any distance, and SR says light takes zero time to travel any distance. The two theories contradict each other. Thus why the EPR thought experiment became known as the EPR paradox. After I realized this flaw between the two theories I came up with a solution and then made a bold predictions about what telescopes would eventually discover. I said eventually astrophysicists would find supermassive galaxies, some larger than the Milky Way but further than 14 billion light years away. I made the prediction because light information doesn't take time to travel any distance because it's traveling at c. To us as an outside observer light can traverse the entire length of the universe in a quantum instant regardless of distance. We then I theorized should be able to prove it by simply measuring extremely distant galaxies. If the galaxies are small and young then general relativity is right, and special relativity and I'm wrong. But if the telescopes see galaxies larger and further than 14 billion light years away then general relativity is wrong while I and special relativity are right. Light information happens in a quantum instant regardless of distance when the observer or telescope is contained inside the EM field being measured. We can no more use a telescope to look into the past than we can use a microscope to look into the future.

Black holes are based on a mathematical misconception. Most people don't know that Einstein said that singularities are not possible. In the 1939 journal "Annals of Mathematics" he wrote "the essential result of this investigation is a clear understanding as to why the Schwarzchild singularities (Schwarzchild was the first to raise the issue of General relativity predicting singularities) do not exist in physical reality. Although the theory given here treats only clusters whose particles move along circular paths it does seem to be subject to reasonable doubt that more general cases will have analogous results. The Schwarzchild singularities do not appear for the reason that matter cannot be concentrated arbitrarily. And this is due to the fact that otherwise the constituting particles would reach the velocity of light." He was referring to the phenomenon of dilation (sometimes called gamma or y) mass that is dilated is smeared through spacetime relative to an outside observer. This is illustrated in a common 2 axis relativity graph with velocity on the horizontal line and dilation on the vertical. Even mass that exists at 75% light speed is partially dilated. General relativity does not predict singularities when you factor in dilation. Einstein is known to have repeatedly spoken about this. Nobody believed in black holes when he was alive for this reason. Wherever you have an astronomical quantity of mass, dilation will occur because high mass means high momentum. There is no place in the universe where mass is more concentrated than at the center of a galaxy. According to Einstein's math, the mass at the center of our own galaxy must be dilated. In other words that mass is all around us. This is the explanation for the abnormally high rotation rates of stars in spiral galaxies, the missing mass is dilated mass. According to Einstein's math, galaxies with very, very low mass would show no signs of dark matter because they do not have enough mass at the center to achieve relativistic velocities, therefore they are not infused with dilated mass. This has recently been confirmed with galaxy NGC 1052-DF2. The shape of a galaxy is common in nature. From atoms to our solar system, the overwhelming majority of the mass is in the center. The same must be true for galaxies. Where there is mass there is energy. The night sky should be lit up from the galactic center but it isn't. The modern explanation for this is because gravitational forces there are so strong that not even light can escape, even though the mass of the photon is zero. Einstein's answer would be because the mass there is dilated relative to an Earthbound observer. The reason why we cannot see light from the galactic center is because there is no valid XYZ coordinate we can attribute to it, you can't point your finger at something that is smeared through spacetime. Or more precisely, everywhere you point is equally valid.

General relativity and quantum mechanics will never be combined until we realize that they take place at different moments in time. Because causality has a speed limit (c) every point in space where you observe it from will be the closest to the present moment. When we look out into the universe, we see the past which is made of particles (GR). When we try to look at smaller and smaller sizes and distances, we are actually looking closer and closer to the present moment (QM). The wave property of particles appears when we start looking into the future of that particle. It is a probability wave because the future is probabilistic. Wave function collapse happens when we bring a particle into the present/past. GR is making measurements in the predictable past. QM is trying to make measurements of the probabilistic future.

Question: If time is 'stationary' at the singularity and progresses as you leave the gravity well getting faster the further away you move, then what is the relative time differential in a complete zero G, eg. Bootes void?
@user-qd2nd6hi8j
@user-qd2nd6hi8j Год назад
Gravity is a long distance force. No zero G in Bootes void because some gravity from surrounding galaxies. And Bootes void still have some matter inside it, but less than otside of it But suppose there is such place. Time will move a little bit faster there, then lets say, at the orbit of the Sun. If you want numbers: here time is 0,99999928 slower due to velocity component of system Sun+galaxy+cluster of galaxies+...and need to add gravitational component of this system as well. But at the end it will be miniscule fraction
@brianvernall8487
@brianvernall8487 Год назад
@@user-qd2nd6hi8j thnx for the response. Two points to clarify please. 1) 0,9999928 slower than where? 2) Matter/gravity within the voids is a moot point. We have no idea just how far gravity will impact matter so to speculate that the voids have gravity present is debatable. The time dilation between the centre orf the galaxy and the centre of the void is the question I opened. It seems to be somewhat of an enigma as I can't get a straight answer from anyone.
@user-qd2nd6hi8j
@user-qd2nd6hi8j Год назад
@@brianvernall8487 1) then in that hipotetical point of space 2)long-range force = from one "side of the universe" to opposite side with the speed of light. If you don`t think so(about that scale of gravity interaction ) then read about Laniakea
@brianvernall8487
@brianvernall8487 Год назад
@@user-qd2nd6hi8j Superclusters do not explain the point of the question. Every singularity within the superclusters will have a zero point time referance. Ergo bodies not in the midst of the galaxy, such as us, will not have a zero point time referance and thus we experience the passage of time (read as nuclear decay?). The relative time declination across various bodies in the galaxy and out into a void is what interests me. Even if gravity is all pervasive, it is not the same everywhere and that variance has a direct impact on the speed that time passes. Note for thought, if time accelerates as you approach the galaxy edge, this could explain the apparant conflict with our galaxy models being too tight.
@brianvernall8487

My question to Professor Greene is, why Positive particles is attracted to and interact with dark energy & dark matter? At the Same-time can the same thing happened to the negative particles? For example; let’s say the opposite happened: to hypnotically light energy and light matter that maybe attracted to and can interact with negative particles? Hence, Why there’s no annihilation within the two, positive and negative particles? Simple hypotheses is, dark energy and dark matter maybe/can be repulsive to light energy and light matter, (like opposite poles in a magnet) and if they do touch why you get part of space in our Universe becomes a cold spots?!? Hence reason why the Universe didn’t cancel itself out?!? Meaning there’s the possibility of two Universes? One with positive particles that can only interact with dark energy & dark matter, which in-turn another Universe in-which negative particles is attracted to and interact to light energy & light matter?!? The Back hole which abundant in our Universe but white holes are rare? Also why there’s some negative particles is still in our Universe? Well it can happen in the Opposite Universe which white holes are abundant in which the negative particles can only leak through to our Universe through our Black holes? Vice-verse our positive particles goes through a black holes comes out through the negative Universe white hole? Into an inter-Universal vice-versa! Evidence when NASA discovered negative neutrinos coming out of the earth core through Antarctic into space?!? Which means a new physics has to be applied?!?

How can an entire city complain about the same time paradox unless it was effected by it. Maybe a time distorted bubble the earth passes through in its revolution around the sun. My idea so I get to name it! Voyager 1 is now in interstellar time or "Mikey's Time." "V-ger's" message is sped up now that it's outside our suns time bubble or "Terran Time." It would be faster still if "V-ger" sent a message from beyond the Milky Way's time bubble. (That name is still up for grabs.) Then there's Outside the Local Group time bubble, so on and so on until we get to the, "True Interstellar Time Standard." Now that "Vyger" is in interstellar space, it's also in the Milky Way's STANDARD, faster moving, interstellar time or "Mikey's Time." This can be proven by turning off everything except its clock and transmitter. Have "Vyger" and the IP read time for as long as possible. They WILL show the flow of time speeds up the further away you from any celestial bodies. Until you reach the time standard. •Our sun's time bubble: "Terran Time" we know and have measured. •Milky Way's time bubble or "Mikey's Time." The rate/flow of TIME outside any influence but within the Milky Way: We just got there and are still figuring. Wild guess I'd say time will increase in speed, now and until Vyger is outside the Ort cloud .007-.07% faster, maybe. Just for reference. •Local Group's time bubble or the rate/flow of time outside of any influence but within the Local Group: Name still open and unknown. Wild guess .08% to a couple seconds faster, maybe. Used just for reference. •Outside any influence in the, "True Interstellar Time Standard," or...;-P Name NOT up for grabs BUT just begging to be measured. The rate/flow of time is fastest here so, surfing time here is choice. Though it's best to have your motor boat. ;-P A minute is a minute in all. It's the rate/flow I'm talking about. The Milky Way's Interstellar Time Standard will be known as, "Mikey's Time." Pass it on, please and thank you.

If the arrow of time is meaningless then it wouldn't matter which direction or when it changed. Time is dimensional too; 9.8m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity. There could be a "time field".

GRAVITY CONTROLS TIME Now the phrase “ Gravity Controls Time “ might not seem important” but may well be the most important phrase in history, and that is because the effects of gravity upon time is cosmic in its very nature and repercussions, In other words it affects the whole of the Cosmos. Where gravity changes, be it within a star, black hole or just a large piece of rock, then you must have a resulting alteration of the time frame. There are in actuality a number of instances of this very effect out there among the stars The gradual increase in the timing of all the GPS satellites has had to be addressed because the orbit is at a distance of 22,000 kilometres where the gravity is reduced by the inverse square law to about 1/10’g’and this results in effectively a reverse of TIME DILATION. A much more graphic instance of the same effect is as reported from the scientists at the Hubble telescope whereby the view of the edge of the expanding universe is recorded as expanding at a rate that exceeds the speed of light. This explanation seems to be out of keeping with our laws of physics but does in fact conserve the laws of physics because there is insufficient energy within our Universe to fuel that specific eventuality. The true cause, which by some remote coincidence melds well with ‘Gravity controls time’ is that, as the edge of the universe expands continuously into an ever increasing volume of space, it must by the normal laws of physics reduce its average density and that reduction in density will result in a reduced gravity and as we are now aware a reduced gravity will instigate a speeding up of the time frame at the edge of the expanding Universe. I should state at this point that the increased time frame is only seen from a distance where by the gravity is reduced to a point where the Earth’s gravity takes precedence. If you were able to visit the position of this effect and by doing so entered into the realm of reduced gravity then you would fall under the effects of the increased time frame and the rapid expansion would not be in evidence as you would be a part of the time frame. Should proof of this phenomena be required one has only to look at the slowing down of time at the vicinity of a BLACK HOLE. Travel towards the event Horizon will cause a slowing of the associated time frame. An important aspect of this phenomenon is that when you reverse that direction of travel the associated time frame will begin to speed up, this simple fact seems to be ignored by most cosmological scientists, but still conforms to our present laws of physics. The speeding up of the expansion at the edge of the Universe is also due to a reduction in Gravity because as the matter at the edge of the Universe expands into a much larger volume so gravity reduces. The way to prove this once and for all, is to place one of a calibrated pair of atomic clocks down the deepest mine shaft, with the other set up upon the top of a very high mountain. In this way any difference in gravity will show as a change in time between the two clocks and this effect would be accumulative so the longer the experiment is running the larger will be the time differential, Lastly I have discovered another greater anomaly where the formation of a black hole slows down it’s own time frame which never catches up with our own time frame. This is a bit of a brain teaser as it would seem that all of the black holes in the cosmos have their mass hidden in time because their time frames do not exist in our own. However it would seem that the gravity is immune to all natural effects with the exception of distance. This is more than likely the elusive Dark matter and dark energy scientists are searching for because only the combined mass of all black holes would account for the 95% of mass reported as missing from our Cosmos but is in evidence by the gravity waves by-passing time. I apologise if this is a bit ragged but it is hard to get my mind around the time effects involved as two different time frames co-exist simultaneously. While on the subject of Black Holes, I have noticed various erroneous comments from scientists regarding the event horizon, and it must be made clear that the event horizon is a figment of the human imagination, because it is not a reality, it is purely a collection of imaginary points in space where the gravity is such that light cannot escape and as such everything entering the outer reaches of a black hole will conform to the laws of physics up to the event horizon and on past the event horizon because there is no difference between the outside of the event horizon and the inside except the gravity level and so the laws of physics must be conserved both outside and inside the event horizon. The Hubble telescope released a graph of the increase of the expansion velocity at the edge of our expanding Universe showing how the galaxies were spaced on the relativistic velocities graph. Unfortunately the graph is in error as it shows galaxies on both sides of the graph where they should be in various stages of being near and below the lowest average velocity line. The reason being that the relative size of the galaxies would alter the velocity’s of the galaxies on the expansion graph because the very large galaxy would have an associated larger gravity field which would cause a slowing of its relative velocity and would therefore have a slower expansion rate. This would show on the graph by its position being further away from the average velocity base line. Study of this effect would give rise to the ability to calculate the size of the various galaxies detected. I would dearly love to talk with someone who is interested. While I remember the event horizon is the result of gravity from the core which doesn’t exist in our own time frame. Mo King BSc(Hons)

That's in an atmosphere not in a vacuum there different entities its not the same. Sounds good but not really. I understand what your trying to say but that's not what's happening in our galaxy in space. There 2 different entities that never interact seriously.

No that's not how your being pulled the event horizon is what's pulling you. It will pull u apart. In my opinion nothing ever gets to the blacksphere. It never grows it's a closed system at birth otherwise it wouldn't survive as long as blacksphere do.

THINGS MODERN SCIENCE DOES NOT APPARENTLY KNOW: (copy and paste from my files): Consider the following: a. Numbers: Modern science does not even know how numbers and certain mathematical constants exist for math to do what math does. (And nobody as of yet has been able to show me how numbers and certain mathematical constants can come from the Standard Model Of Particle Physics). b. Space: Modern science does not even know what 'space' actually is nor how it could actually expand. c. Time: Modern science does not even know what 'time' actually is nor how it could actually vary. d. Gravity: Modern science does not even know what 'gravity' actually is nor how gravity actually does what it appears to do. e. Speed of Light: 'Speed', distance divided by time, distance being two points in space with space between those two points. But yet, here again, modern science does not even know what space and time actually are that makes up 'speed' and they also claim that space can expand and time can vary, so how could they truly know even what the speed of light actually is that they utilize in many of the formulas? Speed of light should also vary depending upon what space and time it was in. And if the speed of light can vary in space and time, how then do far away astronomical observations actually work that are based upon light and the speed of light that could vary in actual reality?

It's not gravity Brian in telling you it doesn't exist and it never has in my opinion 😉. Everything that happens in our galaxy has only to do with electromagnetic fields and thermal Dynamics that's it. It's a closed system.

How about this? Dark Energy is EQUAL to Energy plus TIME, for our purposes here, "HEAVY TIME." Mira, look, if we look at any form of energy or whatever you want to call it. We see this electron orbit however many times a minute. We set that as our base or 0 reading, right? For our plain of existence, anyway. However, in this pocket of "heavy time" we get readings of a billion times a minute because time is HEAVY here and passes faster. Or, energy where there shouldn't be energy / dark energy / Heavy Time. See, in that same minute that electron aged a million times faster and therefore has given off readings of a million instead of our base readings. Dark energy IS "HEAVY TIME." It's the difference in TIME that we're seeing! Maybe. The light from these galaxies have been aged by going through pockets of dark energy or "heavy time." Numbers used for reference only. TI-I-I-IME IS ON MY SIDE! YES, IT IS! Now we look at the other side of the coin, dark matter. Pockets of dark matter are actually pockets of "LIGHT TIME." Mira, look, if heavy time is, "full," it stands to reason, light time would be "starving," right? Now this light time is slower. Making our base 0 electron seem to stand still. Get a pocket full of seemingly motionless nothing and you get a pocket of starving dark matter. In this case "starving" is the same as creating a vacuum in space. Since this pocket of "Light time" is "starving" and everything outside this pocket of dark matter is in a "heavier time," it makes it appear dark matter is attracting when really it's just a vacuum, in time, trying to equalize. Making it stand to reason, by my, "I'm not smart enough to give anything more than this simplified reasoning, that Dark Matter is "LIGHT TIME" and Dark Energy is "HEAVY TIME." Maybe. Now think about this. As light travels through the universe and passes through these pockets of Heavy Time or Light Time. Does that "age" or "distort" that particular beam of light? Does that beam of light that is say 40 million light years away now look like it's 100 million light years away? If I'm right, it would explain why these 6 "old" galaxies are being discovered. Also if I'm right and someone proves it, you must name it after me and give me a cut of the Nobel prize winnings. Pass it on please. and thank you. Don't worry, where I come from crazy is a compliment. As it should be P.S. I may have gotten the names backwards and thanks again ;-P

Time definitely doesn’t slow down or speed up, go as fast as you can possibly go and you will find that you cannot get beyond the wall of right now. You cannot get in front of the present. All of you that tout this fanciful imaginative flat Earth like observations completely ignore reality. So when you talk to someone on the opposite side of the Earth on your cellphone is that quantum entangled time? There are no reference frames there is only the present. Please look at the scripture Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭29 ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭29‬ ‭KJV “And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭8‬:‭29‬ ‭NIV "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?" This suggests that demons admit that all time is in agreement. Has anyone stopped to think, just maybe we haven’t figured out how to make a clock that isn’t effected by increasing or decreasing gravity?

Even atomic clocks, are lithium ions effected by gravity? You cannot prove time dilation or contraction using a clock that is effected by gravity. The only thing that was proven is our clocks speed up and slow down due to the effects of gravity.

He was right of course, and when he says time is an illusion without knowing he was also saying Gravity is the illusion of time. He said it himself without knowing what he was saying about Gravity. I've been trying to tell you everyone the same thing Gravity is the illusion of time he knew but could figure out what was actually happening. That's why he thought objects bend space but they don't they bend the electromagnetic fields only in our galaxy. Space is irrelevant to the Picture our galaxy doesn't interact with space it's just in it. Zero mass squared. Means the blacksphere at the center of our galaxy has zero mass and it doesn't bend space. Space is a vacuum and it removes weight from mass so it doesn't matter how big an object is it has zero mass and it can't bend space. Why is that so hard to get a hammer and a feather have the same mass in space 0 that's what that experiment means and that goes for giant blacksphere or tiny ⚫️ blacksphere they both have the exact same mass, zero mass squared that's what it means. And that's why space isn't being bent and that's why there is no gravity. It's not a gravitational field it's an electromagnetic fields. Seriously do we want to unify the theories or not cause this equation does unify the theories. Noble is that you calling. Thank you.
