Excellent analysis of Harman's putting stroke used to win the Open! At one time, I thought the path of the putter was "straight back and straight through." Then I began studying different concepts and came to the conclusion that the putter does swing on a very small arc! I have since gone to this technique and my average putts per round are now around 30. I am striving for around 26 to 28. Good Job Alex!

Very informative presentation. Important to remember as the ball loses forward momentum as it gets within inches of the cup, it becomes more susceptible to any breaks immediately at the cup's edge. Perhaps best to picture the actual cup is another foot away to insure the ball will have anough speed to roll through the breaks at the cup's edge .

on short putts i love to go as long and straight thru all the way to the hole if possible.. longer ones i swing hips a bith and try to see the hole in my outer field of vision - improved speed control a lot - great feeling somehow.. What do you think about it ?

that's funny! he said in the post round interview that it was the putting mirror that gave him the edge by being able to release the putter.

this is my putter stroke this year, and it has been serving me well. it also keeps me from catching turf from lowering my putter during the stroke. the tip about putting the ball marking parallel to the face of the putter has also been serving me well.

Tell me more about the ball marking lining up with the putter face??!! You mean the track line not pointing to line, but squared up with putter face?? 🤯☺️

@@westsighed exactly. when you clean and position your ball, place it with the track line perpendicular to the roll, and on top of the ball. then line up the face of the putter parallel with it. Alex ran that tip a few weeks ago. of course, you still have to choose the right point of aim, but it's helped me a lot with lining up the putter.

i cannot believe it, it's like standing on thin ice, it feels risky, even disasterous, but....have faith, it works. i know now i'll have to force myself into using it, because it feels so different from the norm.

I tried this and I like it! One interesting thing I noticed is that in doing this drill I found myself holding the putter perfectly still and just rotating the lower body. As the hips rotate along the body, they rotate right on that arc and it ending up taking any arm movement out of the equation. I feel like this could possibly lead to more consistency in the stroke.

If you add a line to your ball and aim that line down the target line. You get a great visual feedback of whether or not you rolled the ball end over end. No drill has any value without feedback.

Lee Trevino once said there’s never been a great putter of the ball who didn’t hook their putts. I don’t know if that’s true but Ben Crenshaw certainly hooked his.

So glad you showed this - i have always putted with a slight arc, ignoring all the advice to go straight back and forward. I thought i was doing it wrong but it just made sense to me has always been one of the best most consistent parts of my game - so now i know i am not mad 😊🙏🏌🏼‍♂️

You don’t swing a putter. You maintain a constant straight push regardless of position behind or to point of contact, staying a millimeter or two just over the green. You move the putter shaft exactly vertical from back to contact to front.

Nice video I think Harman won cos on the first two days his tiny drives were short of any trouble and the big hitters took two days to work out, those bunkers suck......his putting was steady as though 😊 agree Alex those putting mirrors are a no no, come on staring down looking up your nostrils not the way to go.

Not dissing the chap it was a comment from Sky, Harmen is not in PGA top hitters top 60 used his driver all week others went to other options cos reaching trouble, your course correct he can blow away most mere mortals for fun.
