It's really sad, because I'm sure that if people like Brian Jones or Keith Moon were still alive, I'm sure that they probably would've solved their problems and be back in their bands, rocking with them today. I remember last Christmas, I got a 45 single of "Dandelion". I listened to it for the first time, and remember hearing the Saxophone, oboe and maracas that Brian played. I still love the Rolling Stones, but they sure haven't sounded the same since Brian died.

Brian was highly gifted player, R&R lifestyle exasperated his nervous system. Lack of support during his trials exiled from his peers. The bi-polar behaviour caught up with him. Vilified by the gutter press, left him in emotional distress.

Brian Jones was and is the real Rolling Stones. There was Brian and there were four punters. There was another musician, Ian Stewart, but management kicked him out. Brian Jones did NOT want to be a rock star. His vision was to bring his beloved Blues to a wider audience. In spite of what everybody told him, he succeeded. He wanted out as early as '65. The bi-sexual Andrew Loog Oldham signed on as manager since he held a torch for Mick. From day one the plan was to shove Brian to the back and make Mick the front man. Mick's Dartford school mate was only too happy to join in the sadistic fun. It was never about the music with Oldham, it was all image. With Brian, it was all about the music and while he was at it he became the coolest fashion plate in "Swinging London". The Stones spent a lot of time in L.A. since they did a lot of recording at RCA Hollywood. When in L.A., all the hipsters gravitated to Brian. They could give a flying fuck about the punters. All true and all documented. Read!

Hope you are still following this--but you are spot on about Brian. I can find nothing I disagree with. A pleasure to read the truth. The only thing we may disagree on is that I believe Brian died from suffering an severe asthma attack while poolside and fell into the water. The other stories are "he said, she said". The reason I give the asthma attack the real reason over the other stories is that I lost a very dear friend to a severe asthma episode. She did not have her inhaler with her and she died right at a bus stop within minutes. So I do lean towards that theory-I remain open to the others, but again, a pleasure to read what is probably the best recitation of Brian's real role and, as they say, the rest of the story. Cheers.

@DOOMGENERATION 6 лет назад
@Cissy2cute It's not about disagreeing but that facts prove you otherwise: his inhaler was lying by the pool and he didn't fall into the pool as they both went for a swim, plus he was an excellent swimmer despite having asthma. Your dear friend passing from an asthma attack is no evidence nor proof of Brian having died the same way. " The other stories are "he said, she said"" --- so is yours, apart from that they've been around back then and you weren't. There's enough evidence and occurences that support/underline the theory of that his death wasn't a natural one. Plus the autopsy proved otherwise: kool1017.com/british-investigators-say-rolling-stone-brian-jones-was-murdered/

It's pointless to speculate about how Brian Jones died or who killed him. There are four musicians who established foundations of sixties rock -- Brian Jones, John Lennon, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. Brian Jones was a Grand Master who taught Keith Richards (who knew had great talent but was an extremely young, inexperienced guitarist when recruited by Brian Jones) and Mick Jagger (almost ditto for Jagger as vocalist) all the basics. Without Brian Jones, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards would have ended up as clerks in some record store in East London--Mick Jagger might have got a bit further on as a gigolo in Soho. Neither Keith Richards nor Mick Jagger have ever given Brian Jones his due. For that, I say "Shame!"

+Atomic Lobotomy Well...they know they just have to give Jones some due credit..But mostly it's the umpteenth token credit of _"Brian gave the songs colour, and he could pick up any instrument"_ ;while just as soon after that, ridiculing him and continue pissing on his grave...Conveniently forgetting ,while they themselves were east London loudmouths who couldn't string two sentences together, it was Jones who worked the clubs management and 'Ready Steady Go' bosses,,,who all fell for his articulate reasoning...They never forgave him for taking a few more pence from the takings for his labour...It's mostly Richards though who accepts every request for interviews , to slowly but surely rewrite history...The amount of videos of him blabbering about his precious music is staggering. There's probably no rock star around who is so willing to consent to each and every interview request, from ladies mags to gadgets magazines.... to countless lousy U.S. chat shows. It seems this once doted only child, who for the most part of his life stood at the centre of attention ,just can't bear the thought of bowing out gracefully,..and would rather succumb to tasteless overexposure, while throwing The Stones' impressive legacy to the dogs...

I think Keith Richards wrote, or helped to write, some good songs. & he's probably a decent rhythm guitarist (though apparently gets extremely uptight when in presence of true guitar greatness). But he's basically become a clown and total doofus. I agree, he should've simply retired. He could have gone playing that ridiculous pirate in those dumb pirate movies for his retirement job. Well-suited to the role.

'Keef' is a grotesque hypocrite. Both Jagger and Richard have spent the last five decades in sly attempts not only to minimise Brian Jones' importance to the Rolling Stones and his crucial role in their own success, but also to assassinate his character on a personal level. Of course, the principal uncertainty of the Rolling Stones' history in the 1960s is not the plainly obvious fact that Brian Jones was the heart and soul of the band throughout it's golden era. The principal uncertainty is whether Michael Philip Jagger actually trampled over the body of Meredith Hunter at Altamont in his panicky stampede to the executive helicopter to escape the consequences of the anarchic, God-forsaken social environment which he himself had done so much to encourage in the minds of impressionable fandom with his pathetic Satan posturing over previous months.

Well for those who don't know who the inventor of the band is are off and will never know because they view Mick and Kieth alot and they're not the ones who invented the band only to tkae avantage of Brian as songwriters.

So let’s think this through for one minute. If this had been Brian Jones band and he had also been the manager for many years. Whose name do you think every legal document would have been under? All the royalties, all the record contracts even the actual name of the band. Yes under Brian Jones. And even if Mick and Keith came around to inform him that he had been kicked out of his own band. It probably wouldn’t take them very long to find out that everything was still under his name...... and even if Brian was losing interest in the band. Probably because he had been kicked out of his own band. He probably wouldn’t be in much of a mood to sign up sign over full legal control to the new “Rolling Stones”. How inconvenient for all the bandmembers. To be for ever paying royalties to Brian. While the band was starting to get to super star status... lots of money at stake and also available to pay for bad deads...

Hendrix came to see Brian at the house and they both were talking about it and all the guitar players etc who they thought were going to be reliable well versed in blues etc Hendrix I didn’t like but he was totally different from what I imagined him to be like and as he fought in Vietnam war I have great respect for him as well as his colleagues it makes me think in a way that his experience literally made him who he was and his music I’m proud of meeting him and had privilege of time with both of them it was really incredible but war and traumas can internalise in your psyche and music along with art / writing etc helps to make people understand a little more than they might not of done . So if you hear Hendrix s music stop and listen to what he was saying in it and also listen to Brian’s they both had feelings please don’t ignore them learn from it

Sir Mick of Altamont. Sir Mick the tax exile. H M the Queen should do her homework. How about Sir Ronnie and Sir Reggie Kray? Brian and Ian Stewart founded the stones and anyone who writes different doesn't know their facts. I would have preferred Sir Charlie if they had to glorify the stones. Sir Mick even tried to see if he could become a superstar on his own and failed and went back to the stones.

+John Rogan Rolling Stones were definitely the creation of Brian Jones -- in some of the early interviews with the band (you can find some on RU-vid) -- it's clear Brian was the leader and spokesman for the band. He also kept pushing the band forward musically. Mick Jagger started out imitating Brian -- Brian Jones basically taught Mick and Keith Richards how to be Rolling Stones.
