What a stupid comment. 😂 Kelly took over a program that had less than 50 scholarship players on the roster. It takes time. He's gonna win 10 games in each of his first 2 seasons, including an SEC West title and a Heisman trophy winner and the number one offense in the country. His 2025 recruiting class is already shaping up to be a top 5 class, possibly the top class. LSU is headed in the right direction.
Give it some time is right! Notre Dame is recruiting better than ever and guess what happened when ND faced Ohio State? They didn’t get blown out like they always did w/Kelly while LSU is getting their doors blown off when playing tier1 teams. Also, ND actually looked on par, athletically, w/Ohio State. ND is on the rise and Freeman is clearly shaking off the training wheels as far as game management, and Kelly is doing what Kelly does. Good but NEVER great!

This guy knows what he is talking about . He has been saying this for years . It’s not sour grapes . Kelly is a 10 win coach . The players at ND get more credit for doing what they did despite Kelly . He was never around the team . He made terrible hires , which is one thing . Then he refused to get rid of them when he should have . Had a dozen WR left the program because of the position coach . If you knew anything about ND you would be agreeing with the guy . Kelly ran the oline coach out of town , and hired a bum . Kelly left , and one of the best oline coaches in the country came back a few weeks after he left .

Think of what he can do without those limitations. I'm not an LSU or ND fan but lately ND fans amuse the hell out of me. Nd was a joke before Kelly arrived. They were lucky to break 500 and were non-existent in the national conversation for 20 years. Now after Kelly raised the program from the dead ND fans act like they've been there this entire time.... You haven't. Notre Dame was a joke since Holtz before Kelly arrived. So stop it. Of course everyone (ND fans) wants to act like Freeman is the answer. Forgetting he has exactly 1 year working under Kelly and no head coaching experience. ( besides blowing a big lead in his one bowl game) Truth is Kelly has way more proven experience of winning over multiple decades and multiple stops. However without Kelly Freeman is never there and he has absolutely nothing to work with because ND is still a middling program with nothing to work with before Kelly rebuilt it.

I think both sides have a point. Recruiting is not Kelly's strongest suit but he's still a damn good coach. That's why on paper, and thus far, it works so well because he doesn't have to travel half way across the country to recruit some of the nation's best players. You just need a decent coach and the program sells itself.

Why did he say that Brian Kelly wont recruit the he needs to, then turn around and say Notre Dame didn't lack talent in big games, but performance. Brian is full of bs. Notre dame recruiting showed they were 10(ish) in recruiting rankings. Top 3 or 4 usually win the big show. And LSU is already ahead in their 2023 recruiting than he ever got at Notre Dame.

Really Florida state beat down is exactly what Kelly does best.. blow out losses.. LSU should never lose to most teams by that many pints given their significant talent advantages across the board
Watching Kelly all the years at Notre Dame it became apparent that he took them as far as he could while not winning that big game. Talent or not it takes an elite coach to get his players up and ready to take on anybody. Time will time where Marcus Freeman and Brian Kelly are at. I didn't care for Kelly myself but I appreciated his results. College football as a whole is just to predictable with three teams dominating the landscape the last 10 years. All the rest of the teams play second fiddle and end up in the who cares bowl game.
Brian Kelly was never a recruiter . His staff had some good recruiters . Brian Kelly lied to a recruit and his family in their house on his way out of ND . Brian Kelly is an ego maniac . He blamed everything , and everyone except himself . Most Notre dame fans wanted Kelly gone along time ago . The proof is every one on his staff at ND told him no when he tried to get them to go to LSU with him , except the special teams coach who would have been fired if he didn’t go . Kelly gave jobs to his friends , and when it was plain to see they couldn’t do the job he didn’t get rid of them . Mark this down Kelly will not last at LSU . In 2 years all of you LSU fans will be cursing the day he was hired . Mark it down ! Irish ☘️

Well, here this from a South Bend resident [though I'm not a Leprechaun fan] ... LSU is improving. Sure, they started off rough. However, the ship is raising its sails. The competitiveness is showing to be more sound deeper into the season than before. If ever there were a time to be in Baton Rouge, it is now, when A&M and Bama are missing something. Alabama will likely recover sooner than later, but the West Div in the SEC is feeling rather balanced, instead of dominated this year.
Real LSU fan here. He has some work ahead of him. Louisiana talent will always end up at LSU out of pride for the state. He needs to figure out how to win with it
Okie dokie, i have been an LSU fan for 67 years and I've been through a lot of head coaches as a fan, in as much as I hate to admit it, the hiring of Kelly is not a good fit ! I hope I'm wrong, but, i don't see it happening, i think we (LSU) will do good to win 7 games this year and hopefully, Kelly will be gone, it's just a bad fit !
I agree. I have been a Notre Dame fan for 34 years. He did make Notre Dame better but he couldn't win the big games. History repeats itself. Notre Dame screwed up royally with the fat contract given to Charlie Weis who had no business being a head coach. Unfortunately the BK hiring will likely be a huge mistake.
@@STMARTIN009 oof. Care to rethink that? Guy has beaten two top 10 teams in his first season at LSU including Saban and Alabama. Rebuilding a roster he took over with 39 scholarship players. Takes down Saban and Bama in his first year at LSU,something he couldn't do in all those years at ND. Imagine what he'll do in 2-3 years when he's had a chance to completely rebuild this roster and program. I have the upmost respect for ND and their proud history and tradition. However, this isn't the 1980's anymore. College football has changed. Kelly knows that and it's why he took the LSU job. LSU is one of the best jobs in the country on potential alone. There's a reason LSU has won 3 national championships and played in 4 in the last 20 years, meanwhile ND hasn't won one since the 80's and the one they have appeared in since then? Kelly got them there.
If he can continue to show this kinda coaching and the steady improvement of players, I'm all in and will support coach Kelly to the end ! I'm a tiger fan first, I'm a coach fan second ! Geaux tiger's
Marcus Freeman at Notre Dame 1-3 bc they "survived" against Cal! LSU is 2-1 with a very rare occasion happening at FSU to drop that game by 1pt. But atleast LSU looks fast and tough and only lost by 1 point compared to what Notre Dame looks like and who they're losing to. Marshall shouldn't have been anywhere near Notre Dame by the half yet they dominated the Irish in the trenches, basically in every single aspect of the game ND made Marshall look more like Alabama than the automatic victory they were supposed to be. Like someone said, "Marshall got paid 1.4 million dollars to travel to South Bend and beat a ranked Irish team at their house!" That's not too bad of a deal for Marshall lol. Not so much for Freeman or Notre Dame. Sour Grapes!
A greatcoat is a greatcoat a great coaches going to figure everything out within a 1-year of stepping off that airplane to be introduced as the head coach of the New School
Lmao who cares if he didn’t coach in the south it’s football if he wins nobody in Baton Rouge cares where he’s from. Plus he will get better recruits because Louisiana flooded with talent. go watch Rudy and cry about the golden days of ND
Not a lsu fan but thus take isn't aging well not saying lsu is gonna win a natty this year but dude should end up 10-2 with a sec championship appearance in his first year with a team that barley made it to a bowl game last year
Brian Kelly did take Notre Dame as far as they could go, because Notre Dame will never win a national title again. No way Kelly was going to beat that Bama team in the championship game, or their playoff game. Notre Dame can't match up to the top teams. They don't have the talent. Period. Freeman definitely ain't setting the world on fire. Kelly took over a dumpster fire and he's gonna win 10 games in each of his first 2 seasons, including an SEC west title. LSU had the number 1 offense in the country this season, and he already had a player win a Heisman, something he never did at Notre Dame. 😂
And how's Marcus Freeman looking for ND fans right now? After 4 games his biggest accomplishment is barely beating unranked Cal to improve his record to 1-3 as a HC but losing to Marshall must be what he means by "getting the team ready to play!" I'd bet my retirement that today, in late September 2022 if LSU played Notre Dame it would be BADDD news for the Irish. Atleast BK isn't adding gasoline to the "dumpster fire" but putting it out! Barely losing to a good FSU team because of multiple special teams miscues then whopping a local small school, and recently holding Mississippi State to only 16 points in a 31-16 win vs. an SEC opponent. Any unbiased college football analyst would admit that LSU is simply a better program, it needs a lot of work before they hoist their next national championship trophy. They are atleast closer to winning bigtime games than Notre Dame if LSU should be 3-0 if not for a fluke play, Notre Dame going down to Marshall should indicate that they're closer to a middle of the road team than a big game contender or winner. *I like Marcus Freeman but he's in a bad situation and isn't going to be successful there. He's a great D-coordinator who was elevated too soon to HC and at a place that isn't even living in 2022 when you look at the facilities and resources for the players to develop. Marcus might be winning games if he was HC of a program that upgraded their facilities in the last decade or two! He's impressing me with recruiting especially with the much higher academic requirements than virtually any other school but Brian Kelly WILL WIN a Championship at LSU in 4 years or less! His style has been proven to work. The culture that will be completely different from Coach O. will benefit the players and program. Just look at some of the players who put on 25-30lbs of good weight in 3-4 months at LSU with the strength and conditioning, the nutrition program at LSU alone gives the purple and gold an advantage in player health. I'd take the Tigers by 7 over the Irish today and by next season I'd take LSU by more than that as the two programs head into opposite directions under their new Head Coaches. *This guy is just a homer who's never seen another school hire away a winning coach like LSU did with Brian Kelly and these fans almost seem insulted by it! A Louisiana school "stealing" the HC of the mighty Fighting Irish (subtract the "Fighting" from that) may seem very surprising but when you peel away the layers and look at the reasons besides money, you'll probably understand his decision and it was an easy one. He already took Notre Dame as far as they're going to go in this new age of football and is smart enough to realize that. Freeman won't be able to put the same level of talent on the field as Alabama or Georgia and anyone who doesn't agree with me on that is suffering from ND & BK bias syndrome lol. The fact is that ND is heading back to where they were during Charlie Weiss, Ty Willingham, and the days of a double digit winning season will become cause for celebration! LSU is going to follow their same pattern of winning championships. The last 3 HC's have won one, played in another and the last 2 HC's at LSU in Ed Orgeron and Les Miles weren't half the coach that BK is but they recruited the state of Louisiana well and put athletes out there, hired good assistant coaches and coordinators, and stood back and watched the Tigers win. A Tigers team that plays in the toughest division and conference in all of college football! Having to play Alabama, Auburn Texas A&M, Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, plus one more SEC East team in their conference schedule annually is enough to be battle tested if they can survive that gauntlet! Don't worry about Brian Kelly, he's not your problem anymore. Worry about Marcus Freeman, he is your problem and at 1-3 to start his career there's a lot to worry about with him at the helm. Good luck with that! Maybe these fans throwing shade at BK will finally stop now that there are much more pressing issues at hand in South Bend!
