I know Brian might not want to hear this, but: the world is a better place because he chose comedy over football. Maybe he could have been a football pro, but the years of laughter he has given us are priceless.

I've had that same dream over and over about my high school career for 15 years. Since I was 23 years old I've had a recurring dream that I'm back in high school playing offensive line. Except, I wasn't that good. I just played left tackle. But I always love that recurring dream. It is fun.

I was a small-time comedy booker in Jersey back in the '80s just as Brian was poised to make it big. Now I know why he would zig and zag when he left the stage, and sometimes leveled a cocktail waitress or two. It all makes perfect sense.

As a server, I received 2 tickets to one of his shows in Houston as a tip. I got to his show late and only saw about 15 minutes. I'll gladly go and see him again.

I`ve seen Brian Regan (my favorite comedian) and Dan Soder live. Both are hilarious and underrated.

His humility stands out. He plays like he doesn't know much about sports in his routine, but the knowledge is there. "Go, sports-team! Thoroughly trounce the opponent!"

Being a comedian, or a performer in general, is enhanced by athleticism. I've been around a number of actors from regional theater and some time I spent out in LA and one of the things that always struck me is how fit and strong most of them are (and also how loud and clear their voices often are in person). Being strong physically and in training prepares you for the work and discipline of writing, of executing an action and idea clearly and cleanly. Hell, I was in a local commercial many years ago as an extra and I even noticed how elegantly and effortlessly trained actors even walk, like they're literally floating on air or like dancers. Brian Regan's trademark is consistency and professionalism and he likely learned it through sports.

Ironically, at 1:55, Mike Whittington (#58) of the NY Giants tackles Arthur Whittington (#22) of the Oakland Raiders. Took me a few minutes to sort that one out!

as someone who played a little 2nd grade flag football myself, it was nice to see a fellow player relive their glory days on the field. way to go, Brian.

Same here, Brian. I get that dream fairly regularly - all the sudden, I'm on a bus going to a game. I'm thinking, "...hey, I'm old and slow now, how the heck am I going to play against a bunch of young studs - I'm gonna get lit up like a Marlboro red... then I wake up - boom, instant relief!

I played football at a small college as well. I have had those exact dreams off and on for years. Glad to know I’m not alone. Maybe it’s from all the concussions. This is a cool story, Brian seems like a genuine guy, My favorite comedian.

I'm 48 and to this day I dream at least once a week of being on my team still. Apparently, I'm carrying some sort of psychological baggage around from when I played. It was nice to hear someone else saying pretty much the same thing.
