A lot of yall don’t know how to scout these WRs. A limited route tree does not mean the player is not capable of doing more. BTJ does need to work on making his hitches more snappy and also work on balance in those aspects. Also the fact that you all think he has questionable hands says all I need to know about the way yall watch these players. He had a 3.6% drop rate which was one of the lowest in all of this draft class. BTJ has elite speed that ACTUALLY shows up on film, good lateral quickness and smoothness for someone his size, GOOD hands both short and deep with a 3.6%. Drop rate. This mfer is a legit WR
@@raztafar99 🤦🏾♂️body catcher or hands catcher if your drop rate is 3.6% is still insane. Also if he has a 3.6% drop rate with body catching why doesn’t everyone else have a similar drop rate or better drop rate if they’re catching with their hands more? Shouldn’t they also start body catching or is it the fact that his body catching concerns are grossly overstated and when he’s tracking the ball deep he has incredible deep ball catching with his hands and overall good hands since his drop rate is 3.6%
@@raztafar99he body catches too much but to say he doesn’t catch with his hands is just wrong. He goes up and catches all types of balls and catches tons of balls out in front and over his head. He absolutely has flashes of lateral quickness particularly on single cut routes.
I dont see any weakness in his game . He can develop further and strengthen his catching abikity. I have faith we havent seen the best of thomas yet. Hes gonna be a great X reciever
Pros: His releases are really good, his speed is ELITE, he’s 6’3”, his ball tracking/over-the-shoulder deep balls is GREAT, and he is jittery enough to get a a lot of YAC Cons: Didn’t run a ton of routes, average jumpball receiver, struggled at times catching slants that were below his chest, didn’t really fully extend on many catches/alligator arms potentially(?) Overall: A really fun prospect that has 3 high end/elite traits. If he cleans up his drops in the short to midrange he’ll be able to be a worst a consistent 1000 yard receiver. Comp: Terry Mclaurin with better agility, but slightly worse hands
Thank you. He does not break tackles and hes a body catcher. The simplest balls he catches with his body. He's not aggressive on jump balls, even though he's taller than the DB. Guy goes down after first impact. He does not seem comfortable with the ball. Definitely not a first rounder.
SO I was curious as to what the hype was with Brian Thomas Jr, but my takeaway from this is Daniels as a weak arm. Throwing to the flat is painful to watch. I Must look into this and make a video...
@@Colton2418 that’s possible but neither of us know that. his athleticism suggests that he should but there’s plenty of athletic WRs that cannot run close to a full route tree. and ig i just don’t understand why LSU would not have him run a more extensive route tree while knowing that he could…, considering that it’s a huge benefit (for everyone) for him or any WR to run a variety of routes, i would like to think LSU, a school that coaches the WR position better that most schools in america, wouldn’t choose to limit his ability for no reason. who knows, he could end up running a full tree out of nowhere and that’d be great but that’d also be going against what we saw him do last year. still gonna be good just doesn’t look like a WR 1 to me which is totally fine
@@rashaad904 if you think that A, Randy Moss only ran 2-3 routes, and B, that only Edelman type WRs run a variety of routes, then there’s nothing worth discussing here with you bro lol
Am I trippin, or does it look like he's off-balance after he catches the ball on a bunch of these. Like, he catches the ball and looks like he's about to fall down after a ton of these catches. Weird.
@@Colton2418 yep, I watched both of their tapes and I agree with you. AD is wildly inconsistent with his effort. It's also really odd how AD has this insane burst that can show up in his route running, yet when he tries to cut to break a tackle he looks like he has a pedestrian athletic profile. I do like AD's hand more than BTJ though.
Daniels and Lamar are similar in so many ways. Thomas would fit right in in Baltimore. Get Lamar that big body, wide catch radius wr that he can just chuck it up to
@@GLA45Amg716 true but Daniel’s lacks the arm strength that Lamar has and had. I think a lot of these deep balls in this video were underthrown where a qb with a bigger arm could have led BT for a tuddy.
@@deathbyqtip33 I actually think Daniel’s has a stronger arm he puts more velocity on his passes. He’s just a better passer in general especially this point in their careers
I was way too high on BTJ coming into this video. He looks really uncomfortable catching the ball without his body or when it's contested. I can't see a team in the back end of the 1st Round taking him if he's gonna be this much of a project. Daniels looked pretty rough too but I was already lower on him.
This his hands are in the 30th percentile which is strange considering everything else physically is freakish. That definitely plays into the drops but isn't a deal-breaker. Could be an elite player if he improves his coordination, which is possible. His over-the-shoulder catching is impressive on intermediate to deep passes.
I don't care about what ya'll say about body catcher and all of that stuff. You can't speed and size. Move him around and work with his route running and hands. I believe he will be great in our offense and make us more explosive than ever. Keep my boy home and make him the 14th pick. Who Dat!!!
I was really impressed by the few games I watched of him, but ISO film like this can really show you his flaws. A lot of the misses, BTJ is wide open. Gotta reevaluate. Caleb Williams, though, is generational. The term gets thrown around a lot but there are levels to this and there is a significant gap between he and two other highly-rated prospects. Best FBS QB I've seen since Luck.
I saw a lot of videos saying he might actually be qb2 but I'm not seeing it. Even watching the highlights he gives me concerns and looks like he's bailed out alot. Hopefully this comment ages horribly and the kid balls out
Anyone else watch this and think he's not good? He just lazily waits in zones half the time and exploits bad zone coverage. Against man he only runs go routes unless they give him a good cushion and then he'll just clearly come back for a hitch. And his hands aren't consistent either
Most overhyped prospect in this draft. Double catches the ball constantly, uses his chest in the catch process way too often, and ran a super limited route tree Take away the extreme size/speed advantage he has in college and you have an average to above average player in the NFL
@@thatjewishkid69 that’s a moot point. Idk if you realize but NFL players also body catch too. The only important metric is whether they drop said passes. His 3.6% drop rate is second lowest in the top 15% behind only AD Mitchell. That is objectively a massive pro for him no matter how you shake it. Unless you wanna say every other WR with a higher drop % has awful hands and I know you wouldn’t do that right??? Right??
