Great point! The USA team is playing their NBA counterparts from all parts of the world. And those teams don’t want autographs and pictures like in the 90s. They want to dominate the USA. And they have the talent to do so as Serbia proved. The Avengers are called that for a reason-their opponent is fully capable of beating them and upsetting the world, literally. Also, the other national teams play together much longer than our teams (sometimes for years), so they have already gelled and know how to play together. The USA came together a few weeks before the Olympics started.

Serbia is definitely a better basketball machine. But USA has so much talent. The tempo is different and they adjusted. Meanwhile trying to figure out rotations. If you watch basketball AVIDLY you know what you are truely watching in real-time. This is by far the best team ever assembled!

i think you're overstating this a bit. the serbs had to be basically perfect to even be within the realm of Team USA. theyve been blown out by this team twice already. players that dont even shoot well on this team were on fire. A lot of what Chuck said ws absolutely correct. It took until the 4th quarter for Kerr to find the right rotation. Our bench should have separated us from them long before the 4th when they sat jokic multiple times but kerr refused to play tatum and stuck with Ant through an obvious poor stretch. It was as much of Kerr's bad decision making through some of that as it was the Serbs having a shooting performance they'll likely never have again.

They might not make it past their first NBA contract, but that doesn't mean they can't be NBA caliber players for one night.

Tatum and Haliburton didn`t play at all against Serbia in these Olympics and thats because first Haliburton didn`t show anything in these 2 or 3 games he played and Tatum showed very little in same ammount of games he played so i completly understand why they didn`t play. And lets be real here they are the weakest link against Serbia and Kerr knew that going in the game vs Serbia so thats why the didn`t play. USA had the same rotation of players in these two games against Serbia, in group play and semifinals.

Also, while the NBA has the most talent, that doesn't mean the european leagues don't have any. Especially when you consider the NBA has limited spots, and so much depends on fit and opportunity. These countries are far more than just the players they have that officially made the NBA

And while there were outlier players like the ones you mentioned, everyone else on those team was way below average than the run of the mill NBA player. Today, while the teams aren’t fully NBA players. They have plenty NBA player while also having valuable meme era of strong Euros teams. In 92, Euroleague was trash and the competition was trash. I agree that the 92 team is better than the current one because the current squad main players aren’t in their prime anymore but they’re still great. We saw that NBA players can miss 3s in FIBA rules, even with the line being closer to the rim, but also FIBA players can miss from the 3-point line in the NBA. All respect for Team USA, but from these Olympics I see that US basketball experts disrespect Euroleague players a lot calling them "minor league players" or "bunch of guys". Those Serbian players are well-respected players in the Euroleague and yesterday they showed that they can play with the biggest superstars the NBA has. So my point is, in order to minimize the quality and success of the Euroleague, they should start to watch multiple leagues and to open their perspective and be aware of the opponents quality so they can give them the respect they earned.

Would be great to have a basketball champions tournament for all leagues.

you don't ever really shut someone totally down from that far out but you can force different guys to shoot which they did, Serbia's PG wasn't a shooter and he only made one lucky one up against the shot clock the whole game and in the fourth they forced him into three.

Watch again, they had like 2 wide open looks, but had a lot of last second forced shots late in the shot clock, team defense made that comeback possible.
