best one is one at master of the guild and one as the bishop and one who climbs to sovereign. MoG gets a cut of all trade in the city, Bishop gets inquisition trial to get all your enemies executed, and sovereign allows you to control who is on the council at every step so you only let your allies (or nobody) have power

Loved this game I still remember my first run. Started as a lowly baker, married a banker, got loaded, got into politics, failed at politics, died of the plague. Son came of age and picked up where his father had left off, got even more money, married a rogue, got into politics, won at politics by ruthlessly beating my competition, got my wife the job of executioner, filled up every political office with a member of my family, started executing other families, somehow got arrested and beheaded by my own wife. Gods what a game!
