Bought some Oxiclean, this did absolutely nothing to my patio apart from turned all the vibrant green moss brown. Not happy.
@askthebuilder
@askthebuilder 3 года назад
Well, you need to try my www.StainSolver.com. My product is much more powerful than OxiClean. OC's ingredients come from China and they have a small amount of active ingredient in the container. I put in the MAXIMUM amount of active ingredient as allowed by Federal DOT laws. If I put more in, then it would have to have a scary yellow diamond label saying it's a hazardous chemical. Be SURE to watch all the videos at the above website to see how to use it.

Oxygen bleach is sodium per carbonate. Sodium percarbonate is in oxy clean but oxy clean is not solely sodium percarbonate. It is also considered soda ash.

@veryslyfox That's possible indeed. It's why you have to test it first. The patio may have been constructed with the wrong brick. Years ago I wrote a column at my AsktheBuilder website, the dot com one, that goes into great detail about different grades of brick. Not all brick have the same hardness - not by a long shot. But, there are brick that are so hard they would never be damaged by a regular pressure washer.
@askthebuilder
@askthebuilder 15 лет назад
Absolutely yes. You apply the solution and clean just as I describe at my web site in a column titled: House Cleaning. Go to my AsktheBuilder web site and type those two words in my search engine. Within the column, you'll see links to the actual product. Look for the phrase oxygen bleach in the column. Click it to get to where you can purchase the most powerful brand made and sold in the USA.

This is what our contractor told us to use years ago and it works really well for stains on concrete from birds eating berries and even oil stains. We also use it our dog run(concrete) and for black stains on brick (patio)from mold- but this one takes some elbow grease and maybe more than once. I actually sprinkle it on then wet it w/ a light spray then scrub and leave it sit, then rinse. I'll try it this way w/ warm or hot water in a bucket.

Videos make things look easy. Does this method require tons of elbow grease? I've admittedly cleaned my patio with bleach and it was not easy. Scrubbing was tedious specially for deep rooted stains.
@askthebuilder
@askthebuilder 9 лет назад
It does require elbow grease. If the surface can withstand pressure washing, you can do that. But be aware that pressure washing DOES DAMAGE any surface. It creates cumulative erosion of even dense high-strength concrete. Don't believe me? Just look at the Grand Canyon. That was created by water running over ROCK at normal atmospheric pressure. If you live in Chicago, go look at the sidewalk in front of the Chicago Tribune building. They regularly pressure wash it and you can see how the entire top surface of the concrete is gone.

After you use a garden hose do you let the sun dry it up? Can oxygen bleach be used to remove mold and mildew off the side of a brick house?
@askthebuilder
@askthebuilder 7 лет назад
Correct. After you apply the Stain Solver solution and let it work - do this on DRY brick and in the shade - you then scrub. Once you can see the brick is clean, you rinse well with clean water from a garden hose. Yes, everything looks great once dry. Yes, it removes mold and mildew from the side of a house, but you need to scrub. It's like you getting in a shower. If you have soapy water flow over your body, then clean water and you just get out of the shower, you'll be DIRTY. The motion of your hands rubbing across your skin with the soapy water is what gets you clean. www.StainSolver.com to order some.

Stain Solver is only available online. Walmart should be renamed to: BrandKiller They strong arm vendors to constantly lower prices and the vendor has to respond by CHEAPENING the product to meet Walmart's demands. Then if a vendor sells too much to Walmart, they become dependent upon them and lose all their scruples.

No. It's not available at any giant bricks and mortar retailer. Why? They are all BRAND KILLERS. If you start to do well at these places and all of a sudden most of your volume is through the retailers, the retailers put PRESSURE on you to LOWER your price. You lower price typically by cannibalizing your quality. It's happened for years. Go research it online and you'll see lots of brands killed by the big retailers.

If I were to use oxygen bleach on a brick surface does it have to be stain solver or would I be able to use any brand of oxygen bleach? I see that BioKleen Oxygen Bleach plus is a product sold at Wal-Mart... Is that safe for brick cleaning?

It's powerful indeed. So powerful it will systemically kill trees, grass, expensive landscape, etc. over time as each cleaning you do with the chlorine weakens the plants. You better hope your customers don't connect your channel here with you and see this comment thread.

Thanks for your comment. But you have a dog in this fight so your comment rings a little hollow. The complicating factor is that not all *pros* are professional. Add to that the fact that some eco-minded folks want an alternative method that does not pollute. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.

I have to disagree. I don't push a particular brand of oxygen bleach, I just mention the term. If what you say is true, then I can't make *any* product videos. If I say, "Asphalt shingles keep your house dry...", then you will probably claim I am doing a commercial for shingle industry. :-/

How about a fireplace? Had a log fall and burn the surface.
@askthebuilder
@askthebuilder 5 лет назад
Stain Solver does a great job of removing fireplace soot. But a BURN is completely different. A burn indicates the surface has been transformed, not stained.
