BRICKS' workshopped for four Sunday's at Manhattan School of Music's Musical Theatre Lab and featured four MSM students in their freshman year: Nia Alsop, Danyel Brewer, Moira O'Connor and Sophia Stark.
In this original song, composed by Charlene Jean and Franklin Rankin, a venerated ancestor addresses the Etiennes, requesting for them to 'upgrade' their spiritual understanding of ancestry. Just as we are endlessly expanding, so are our ancestors - and we should give them the space to change, grow, become more than figures frozen in time.
BRICKS is written by Charlene Jean and featuring original music co-composed by Charlene Jean and Franklin Rankin. Arrangements by Franklin Rankin and Miles Wilkins. This workshop reading was directed by Charlene Jean and had Miles Wilkins as rehearsal pianists. This workshop was filmed by Gabriel Quinones White.
