I've done Masonry, as part of remodeling jobs I had as a contractor, and I was pretty good at it, but it's monotonous, boring, hard work (especially in the summer) and working on your knees stinks. The pay is OK, but it's better to transition out of this kind of work as you get older, and I now do CAD, IT work, project estimating and other things which pay MORE and are not "punishing". I can see why many choose to pass on this trade.
