Bride’s “Blunt” Mother Wants A More “Bling-Bling” Dress | Say Yes To The Dress: Atlanta 

I got married 45 years ago (our 45th anniversary was back in April). When I bought my wedding dress, I went shopping alone and I didn't tell anyone I was going. I knew what suited me and knew what I wanted. I bought my own dress, so it there was no one else's preferences to take into consideration. 45 years on, I look at those wedding photos and I am still pleased with the choice I made. I think some brides would have a happier experience if they bought their own dress and went shopping alone.

Could be wrong, but I believe she was referring to the tearful moment her daughter in finding the dress. Once and a lifetime moment and she was present for it-made history.

Real people/ your own people should always tell the truth to your face. Not like the so called business people who can lie through their breath to sell anything to anyone..Dress didn't look good on her, and her mom was totally right to say that to her daughter.

I shopped alone as well, loved the one I picked, I knew it looked good on me, and I've never had any regrets!

It is ok to be blunt to some extent but you have to know your limit. Once you become rude then that is it.

Exactly. And we know for certain that they've watched episodes and understand that a veil and other adornments will be added - so I find it puzzling that they dislike a dress and then suddenly fall in love with it. Seems like they just want to create drama. 🤷

Mother is a comedian and not as emotional. Doesn’t make her evil. Not every single woman bawls at every sentimental notion or reacts the same.

I'd never spend that much on a dress in the first place, but I don't see why it matters that they're already married? 7,000 is 7,000, whether she spends it before or after they've signed a piece of paper doesn't matter. From what I gathered they didn't have a big ceremony before, so they're doing it now.

I didn’t find her disrespectful either, just outspoken, which is jarring for some people. She was very proud of daughter, grateful to be there with her, and happy to see her get what she really wanted.

Bride #1's mother was definitely disrespectful by overriding the bride's preferences while shopping, then cackling when she modeled the first gown, then ignoring & overriding the bride's "I want it, absolutely" re dress #3.
