BRIDEAR - BRAVE NEW WORLD REVISITED | REACTION AND FIRST TIME HEARING

Just found this reaction. Thanks for featuring them. Some history: One of the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands, founded in 2011. They go hard and heavy, and epitomize the technical side of Japanese rock bands. Here is the original lineup: Kimi-Vocals Haru-Bass, growls Misa-Guitars, growls Mitsuru-Guitars (pink flying V) Kai-Drums In 2019, Kai left to start a family, Misa left to pursue her own musical vision, Mitsuru soon followed, and they had to bebuild. Amazingly, they did so without any loss in quality, finding Misaki and Ayumi on Guitar, and Natsumi, formerly of Telecide, to take over on drums (after a brief trial with another drummer). New Lineup: Kimi-vocals Haru-bass, growls/metal vocals Misaki-Guitar, audience left Ayumi-Guitar, audience right Natsumi-Drums They have been experimenting with a variety of styles, dabbing in progressive and pop, but they still come back to their metal roots. It’s also a tour-de-force for their brilliant young guitarist Ayumi. If this is their direction, they are going to re-emerge into the top tier of Japanese bands. I saw them live in London just after this lineup came together, and they were explosive, playing mostly stuff from the original lineup. Thanks for doing Bridear! They are one of my favorites. They have been a fixture at Naon no Yaon for years. (Naon no Yaon is a Japanese all female Rock/Metal Music Festival that started in 1987!! - Naon is an intentional misspelling of the Japanese word 'onna' (woman), and Yaon is the nickname of the park venue in Tokyo where it is annually held - translates as Women of Yaon) Thinking about that today, because the date of the annual Naon no Yaon Festival is . . . April 29th.

Saw them last year in Brussels and of course they played that song - and they played it beautifully. Natsumi is a beast on the drums (she's the most recent member, drummer wa ssupposed to be Yuri but at the last minute she chose to join Gacharic Spin instead, so here came Natsumi and what a great choice!). Bridear is an already "old" band (more than 10 years old) and only KImi (vocals) and Haru (bass and backing vocals - and yes she growls like that live!!!) are founding members.

They were the first (only) Japanese band I believe to tour broad last year. Saw them in a small club in Glasgow Scotland and they were just great. Before I nknew of this band I found Ayumi when she played at the Naon Yaon womans festival in 2019 I think it was, playing alongside the likes of Saki. She has been a favourite of mine ever since. At the performance in Glasgow I was really taken with the drumming, so good, and so incongruous to hear such deep growls emansting from the bassist who is such a tiny (but adorable) person. Enjoyed their concert so much and hope they com back soon. I am currently waiting for their new CD AEGIS OF ATHENA to arrive

This is their most prog song so far, usually they're more on the pop/nu metal side lately. Before that they did lean more towards power metal, which was my favorite phase so far. But I just received their current album earlier this week, but didn't have time to check it out yet. Seems like this is not the only longer song on it, so I hope we get some more prog or power metal on it again.

This song is so good I think it's near Dream Theater progressive quality. Hope they produce more songs like this. Thanks for the reaction!!

Bridear has been around for awhile. I remember finding them back in 2015 with Band-Maid. Lots of roster changes though through the years. Mayu is pretty unique in the Japanese metal space as far as harsh vocals go. I can only think of 1 other vocalists that does the high screams like her.

Really great react. This track is for me truly an EPIC masterpiece! So many variations on the three aspects of music (melody, harmony, rhythm). And I LOVE the contrast between the almost "celtic" voice of Kimi and the darkness of the music behind. Oh God, so good. Regarding the Natsumi insane technic, the Bridear YT channel released a few drumplay videos with her behind the kit for some Bridear tracks, unfortunately not this one (yet). About the Bridear catalog, you should try these ones too: "Ghoul", "Bloody Bride", "Ignite" with this line-up, or the insane older title "Light in the Dark" with two other guitarists and another drummer.

They have a new album out in Japan now. It will be out in the US in a couple of weeks. Each member of the band wrote a couple of songs on the new album. It will be interesting to see how their songwriting varies from member to member. Natsumi is such an underrated drummer! Some more songs to check out are GHOUL and Bloody Bride. Also the have a new song out called Greed.

I love Bridear. The name comes from dear bride, bride dear, Bridear. I have a huge crush on the drummer, Natsumi. She's one of my favorite drummers. Yeah Bridear are fantastic!! The older stuff is heavier usually, i like it all, great band and Natsumi on drums as you heard is a monster!! 🤘🙂🤘

BRIDEAR has been around for about a year longer than BAND-MAID and totally kick ass! This song right here is as epic as anything the original BLACK SABBATH has ever done!
