Had you on my "Favorites" list, I should have actually watched other than to mark it as having potential. It answers a bunch of things that most of the other video's glaze over. Not even holding the camera on it long enough to get a good look. Thank you.
A thousand thanks for posting this!! I'm a little late to the party since you posted this about 3 years ago, but I just finished my first BP top end rebuild. Everything was successful but I do have about the same amount of play as you show in this video. Runs nice and quiet except for that clutch rattle in hi. I've never seen this info anywhere else (I'm a bit of a newbie to BP) and I am so glad I ran across this. Thank you so much for sharing this!! Oh, the shaft on your speed selector does look bent, mine was perfectly straight. I'm sure you've addressed it by now though.
When does one replace all the loose and noisy parts on a variable speed Bridgeport head? when the belt breaks of course. When tearing down the head to replace the belt is is just good sense to replace the variable belt pulley bushings and the bearings in that part of the head. Then to fire it up and still have a noise was discouraging. This morning, thanks to your video, my head now runs smooth and quiet. Thanks!!
Thank you very much for posting this information. I think it is critical for all Bridgeport owners. I personally would be better equipped to make these adjustments if I understood what the adjustments are doing. I'm afraid I kinda lost you at several points in the video. Perhaps if you have the machine apart again at some point, you could show what these adjustments are doing. Thank you again. Regards.
Probably because mine is wore. When they would get one like that they would just put brand new parts in. It would come back in to where it was when it was new and you wouldnt need to adjust it. I couldnt see spending over $400.00 on something that could be adjusted. Also I'm not sure you can adjust all years the same way as mine. That offset part that you can flip doesn't appear to be on all of them that I saw pics of on google. However I figure if people know it can be adjusted but theres is different they can find a work around to get theres adjusted.
@@Depth_of_Cut : Mine has that same sliding square piece. Didn't know what is was for, or how to position it correctly. Very little information on that design of Hi-Lo selector. My lever and pin part is even more unique. Still looking for info. on it.
Yes I have a few but there lacking in detail on some things. Other things are in older manuals but not in a newer manuals. I'm thinking maybe they took some stuff out in later years and put it in a bridgeport repair manual that were only available to factory technicians...but idk I'm just guessing.
@@Depth_of_Cut Is there an online link to the manual you are referring to in the video? I would appreciate that. I can't find the information on these adjustments. Thank you
