It's based off of a romance book, so the point is really not to be groundbreaking but more so just enjoy the journey of people falling in love and the ensuing dramatic mess lol. It really is Gossip Girl set back in the day. To answer some questions. The Duke is the highest ranking member of nobility. Only royalty ranks higher. 1. Duke/Duchess (Your Grace) Everyone else is referred to as My Lord/Lady 2. Marquess/Marchioness 3. Earl/Countess 4. Viscount/Viscountess (Bridgerton family) 5. Barron/Barroness(Featherington family) The eldest male son of every family inherits the title, the estate and the money! The other sons don't inherit anything. That's why when dismissing someone, Anthony says "he's a 2nd son we shall find better". Daphne also has a big dowry, so he also dismisses someone for being a fortune hunter aka gold digger. Even though it obviously took/takes great skill to be an opera singer, back in those days they were akin to a glorified escort. Anyone who had to work a trade for a living was basically seen as a lower class. She needed the help of a gentleman to sustain a living, so they often were mistresses. "The London season" was until 1960, or close to it, practically a marriage market. A Duke is a non royal highest lord, MUCH higher than a Viscount. You ought to check the full list of nobility.

Dphane is in her early 20s, she's older than Eloise who is done with her secondary school/governess and wants to go to college so i would say Daphne is 21. She's actully considered old to be a unmarried woman's at this time. Girls marrying in their mid to late teens was norm back. Simon is in his late 20s around 28. A Duke out ranks a Count. A Duke is right below a king in royal rankings. Prince Harry and william only became official Dukes once they got married. Prince Harry and Meghan official titles are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Prince William and Catharine official titles are Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Daphne and Simon are 21 and 26 in the books and the actors were 26 and 29 at the time. Daphne in the book has experienced several seasons and is almost "on the shelf." She has trouble with men because she is everyone's friend and they tend to see her as a sister. Quite a difference from the show.

I know you think you know how it's going to play out but with the twist and turns it's really not the same as any period drama. Daphne is around 19 and Simon is in his mid to late 20's. This show will surprise you. I laughed and even cried during some episodes.😍

It's funny--I've seen male reactors see the sheet scene and say, uh-oh, she must be pregnant, but you're in the scene where Portia is angry Marina hasn't bled and you're saying she can't control it. Edited to add: Portia said it was a month since Marina arrived there, not since she got her period, but, yes, she hasn't gotten her period in over a month.

The actors have 5 year gap between them (25 and 30) which is not large at all, Daphne and the Duke though have 8-10 year gap..he is 28 and some say she's 18 some say she's 20 which is a big gap but it's normal especially at this time period.. girls tend to marry much older men! Either way I was not entirley feeling them in the first episode like you but man do I ship them now 😍
