It never fails to make me laugh that Lady Featherington went: it's not what misogyny does TO you, its what misogyny can do FOR you. As much as she drives me up the wall I can respect that.

This was such a fun ride! And I agree with Eric, Anthony isn't an easy character to play but Jonathan Bailey did a wonderful job in playing him, making him relatable even at his 'worst' moments.
So on Lady Featherington, you gotta really rewatch the scene when he says they will call for the girls later. Her expression changes and she recoils, suddenly snapping out of it. It's that moment she knows it's over. She wanted Prudence to marry him because it saved their family. Pen and Prudence had no dowry and they were abt penniless. It's constantly referred to that the dowry was unpaid and they were eating potatoes bcuz they're poor. Yes, her pride and privilege plays a part, but you gotta remember the Featheringtons are new money and of lower status, so people immediately look down at them. It doesn't help that they have no son and their daughters are ditzy and embarrassing in the eyes of society. Pen especially is seen as the runt and the lowest of low in their society for her shyness, weight, and brainy personality. In S1s finale, Marina asks how she survived a loveless marriage and Lady F outright says she found joy and happiness in her babies. From ep 1, despite being awful the majority of the time, Lady Featherington has always acted out of mindfulness of her daughters' futures. Marina outshined her girls and brought scandal to her family, so she was harsh because that all would directly affect her girls. She turns on Lord Featherington because he's willing to leave her daughters in the midst of ruin, w no protection a world away with no way to make sure they're safe. Mrs. Featherington is a total bitch most of the time, but she's a mother all the time. She will always choose her girls, over her husband, over her new boo, over Marina. That's what she loves more than money and her ego. Her babies. Even if people can't see it.
Polly Walker is god-damned marvel at playing an overbearing and manipulative mother figure with a genuine love for her children that is at odds with her own ambition and self-satisfaction. (If you've never seen her in Rome, check it out.)
@@demynee1679 My primary takeaway from this season is just how boring the Bridgertons are in comparison to the Featheringtons. By every metric other than conventional attractiveness, they are far more compelling characters. Also, again, watch Polly Walker as Atia in Rome.
Jonathan Bailey is a fantastic actor, i really loved watching Anthony's character progression. He is also a really talented theatre actor and an incredible singer!
Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth - but Francesca has been away with family all this time. She’s been mentioned a time or two in passing.

I definitely preferred season 2 to season 1 (which I did enjoy), largely due to the strength of the acting of Johnny Bailey and Simone Ashley. I loved their chemistry. I enjoyed the inclusion of them both being responsible for family before themselves and they really captured me this year. Ep 3 looking at Anthony’s sudden loss and change in status and how that’s affected him since was great and Bailey was so good making his character believable. Mind you, I’ve been a Johnny Bailey fan for a decade now, as after seeing him in Broadchurch season 1, he’s done loads of stage work.
Next season is Penelope and Colin (Polin) and it’s friends to lovers. Also, there is going to be a series about young Charlotte and George called “Queen Charlotte, a Bridgerton story” that, I believe, is coming out in 2023 before Pen and Colin. I really enjoy your Bridgerton reactions. You take it for what it is. You are critical but you don’t ask it be something it’s not intended to be.
@@lilbrownbear yep. I'd assume in the season before a sibling has the romance focus they set them up in a large supporting role. Like Anthony has a large supporting role in season 1.
I've always found Lady Featherington and Lady Bridgerton two sides of the same coin. Lady F was the wife of a Baron (lowest rank of the peerage) she and her husband had no heir. Their marrage seemed not based on love. It appeared to me after the third girl they stopped trying. He was also not invested in making sure the family was financially secure due to his gambling. Lady B, on the other hand, was the wife of a Viscount (one rank above Baron). They had the heir (Anthony) and the spare (Benedict) but continued to have children implying a love match. Financially they seem well off. Lady F has to look at the world in a different way then Lady B, she is less secure and is now at the mercy of relatives who would control her life. Lady B has sons who offer her a secured future. In a sense, Lady F did a brave thing in refusing to leave, she is a survivor but wasn't willing, in the end, to abandon her girls and possibly taint their future prospects.
I love that you’re just willing to take this show on. It’s so different for you, but you don’t write it off as a dumb “chick show” which I’ll always appreciate. Nothing wrong with enjoying a light show
BEST moments when Eric kept hitting his heart, then Rick & Calvin both hit theirs! Eric's smile when they finally kissed was so great! It's been so fun watching this with you guys. You are real men; not afraid to show emotion, acknowledge passion, tears, honesty, and love. Great role models for young men to aspire to. You all have very lucky ladies. As a Mom, I'm so proud of you all.

I watched season 1 and was not really happy with it. I thought it was because I just don’t have a thing for period dramas. Season 2 made me realize that I just didn’t like the dynamics between Daphne and Simon. I’m totally fine with Regency when the couple is played by and written for characters/actors like Anthony/Jonathan and Kate/Simone 😄 this was a love fest. And so hot.

SUCH A JOY WATCHING THIS WITH YOU GUYS! I only watched this season because I watched your blind wave's first reaction to this season. I love how much you guys connect and get invested. I loved Kate and Anthony. Such chemistry and wonderfully complex characters executed with beautiful nuances by both actors.
These reactions are really fun. It's always nice when they do something a bit outside of their typical wheelhouse. I'd love to get more stuff like this from them. I also had a lot of fun with this season. Overall I enjoyed it more than the first I think. Kate and Anthony just had really good chemistry, and I think it's setting up the future Penelope and Collin stuff well.
I really, really enjoyed your reactions to this season of Bridgerton. I appreciate you taking the show on its merits, and having discussions about the characters, topics, and storylines. It's a nice reprieve from the other content here on this channel (your season 1 reactions were why I subscribed in the first place), and I eagerly anticipate the next season, not just for my own enjoyment, but also for your eventual reaction. Your investment in the plot was great to see, and I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. (The show is based on romance novels which are basically the same generic sort of 'love story' written over and over again - but the show has so far done a great job of changing things around to give the characters more identity and motivation which I personally really enjoy. I say all this because you should not get your hopes up too high that Bridgerton will ever elevate itself above this regency-era romance genre, but I do think the show will provide ample variety to keep things interesting beyond each season's love story.)
I don't think it's a question of romance novels being "generic" love stories, or the show "elevating" itself. The romance genre often has tropes, or common themes, like this season with Kate and Anthony it's enemies/rivals to lovers, and next season will be Penelope and Colin, which is friends to lovers. Romance stories also end with happily ever after (or happy for now). The great thing about these kinds of stories is how they develop, the ways we can get invested in the characters and their relationships, and root for them. We know they will fall in love and be happy, but the best part is to watch it happen and wonder how they will get there. That's what it meant when these guys said things like "I don't know what's going to happen" and "I don't want Edwina to get hurt".

Yep people were screaming at the screen for them to kiss right then and there fuck the Ton's opinions (I'm people) lol Kate's little eyebrow scrunch was the other thing that went viral the most after the "bane of my existence" scene, so iconic. And yes Eric, Anthony has a gorgeous smile thanks to the gorgeous Jonny Bailey who plays him, and ALSO yes Calvin, that colour looks amazing on Kate, but then Simone makes any color look good on her anyway lol This episode has two of my fav songs from the season, "I love you" and "Newlyweds", the other was Kate and Ant's theme "To Wait" from ep 6. Really like the music and the classical renditions throughout the season. Kinda bummed that S3 isn't about Benedict's love story (Book 3) they decided to go straight to Colin and Pen (Book 4). I don't much care for either of them but still excited because Kate and Ant will be back for S3.
The main downsides I had to this season was the lack of focus on Kate and Anthony, in particular, Kate, as well there being no Kate & Anthony wedding scene. I will rage if every sibling gets one but them😭
They really don’t get any less focus than the couple in the first season. There’s a good video from JuliaCudney that breaks down the actual numbers. A wedding would have been nice to see, but I like that it’s not a carbon copy of what happened in the first season.
@@Lady_Yunalesca I don't think that's true... The Duke had flashbacks to his childhood and everything. Kate only existed in present scenes with Anthony and her family. That hardly seems fair👀
@@tendibee I mean, it's not like Daphne really had flashbacks in the first season either? Antony gets a flashback much like The Duke did. But again, if you watch the video I mentioned it goes over the actual minutes of screentime and they're very close to each other.
@@Lady_Yunalesca Daphne didn't need any flashbacks (I am talking about character development). Kate needed it for her character arc so did the Duke and so did Anthony. It made the story lopsided this season. The show does revolve around the Bridgertons. I was just pointing it out.

I loved your reactions! Kate is my favorite character, I think she deserved a better development, especially with the background she supposedly has. But Simone gave it all up with what was given to her!
Her book is the best one. Others are trash. The show made good changes to many problematic stuff in Anthony’s book. Wish they had done the same for the previous one.

I love how in the midst of cringing over Eloise figuring out that Pen was Lady Whistledown (just by finally shutting up and listening to her friend for once, ain't that ironic), they needed to compliment Kate's beautiful orange dress. And to be fair, they're right. That's the best color on her.
The F child is Francesca! The reason no one reason know who she is is because in season 1, her storyline is really small (she is away for most episodes practicing pianoforte). Then in season 2, there was more storyline planned but the actress’s schedule got messed up and she was only in like 2/3 of the first episodes and it isn’t even explained why she’s barely there. And since S2 came out the actress for Francesca has been recast - which is actually really important for the next couple seasons. Her characters story isn’t until the sixth book, but most book fans suspect that they are gonna start sewing the seeds in season 3. Hope that helps!!!
As much as I loved S1, I prefer S2. The chemistry between Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley was what made this season so good! I can’t to see more of them next season.

Can honestly say this is my favorite reaction channel! It took me a while to decide rewatch this season and was surprised on how well I liked it. Anthony become one of my favorite characters. Eloise deserves to be happy, I love her character so much

We don't hear from the other kids, Gregory and Hyacinth, because they are very young. Francesca is the one after Eloise. She's visiting relatives, from what I recall. If you're interested in seeing more about people of color in the world of Bridgerton, perhaps you might do a reaction to Queen Charlotte. It's the prequel to Bridgerton. Colin and Penelope will be season 3. It's something to look forward to.
YES, Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) is good looking when smiling (and not smiling), I think that is an established fact. Seems like you noticed Jonny Bailey like the rest of us, he's an incredible and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you all watch and review the show "Crashing" an english TV show from 2016. It is written and produced by Phoebe Waller Bridge (who is brilliant and known for Fleabag-- another amazing show!!). Jonny Bailey is in Crashing and his character "sam" is so different from anthony bridgerton it is shocking. Jonathan Bailey has also been cast as Fiyero in the upcoming movie "Wicked" (based on the major broadway smash hit)
I’m glad you guys enjoyed the season and love watching many many of your reactions. Believe me, I love all the Bridgertons and enjoy the comedies of the Featheringtons but something many ppl haven’t spoke on a lot or I’ve only been the one to noticed it is how Eloise put the pieces together that Penelope was Lady Whistledown. Penelope has always been the wallflower at the Ton events and she’d normally also gossip. It wasn’t surprising to hear her talk about the ppl at the Featherington Ball. But for Eloise it was bc she never paid attention before. I love their friendship especially in the books but in the show Eloise quickly gets wrapped in her own stuff (finding whistledown) then paying attention to her friend. That’s just something i never see other ppl notice. Sure Penelope could’ve told her before but honestly the times she tried Eloise cut her off which might be why she was surprised when Penelope told her to not scream at her. Lol i didn’t mean for this comment to be so long but ye, happy holidays guys glad you enjoyed the season.

Last season when the original Lord Featherington was trying to convince Mr. Mondritch to go along with the plan, he said the boxer’s father had “escaped from the colonies.” Safe to say America has issues.
I dont want Penn to end up with Colin. I want someone to lover her, just be on fire for her. They'll have to do a good job to convince me that he loves her romantically.
Such a fun time watching you guys react to this season, my favorite by the way! I was the exact same watching Penelope and Eloise fighting, even though I like Eloise she truly is a self righteous girl and a really bad friend. The Anthony and Kate dilemma of being the eldest child burdened with responsibilities really touched me and the tension between them was so great I was kicking my feet everything we got even a little bit of exchange between them. Really looking forward to season 3 with Colin and Penelope and I hope you guys react to the queens spin off (the teaser looked great!!). 🥰🥰🥰

As a poc I find this show very refreshing because I love period dramas but it gets a little stale seeing only white character dressed in the regal attire so seeing this diversity even though it’s unrealistic it’s very comforting and more so just a fantasy to get lost in.
Loved this so much!! btw, the prince that the queen mentions for Edwina is the prince from season one, the one who almost gets with Daphne. He's the queen's nephew! x
In season one they specifically said that racism is dead in England because the queen is black, so in theory there could still be race based slavery in the United States in this world. While I do love a multiracial cast, it bothers me they gave a reason rather than just having it be a fact of the world without explaining. I mean, look at poor Megan Markle - the idea that having a black royal ends racism is laughable.
This season was personally a challenge for me to enjoy. The Duke and I (the book this is based off of) is my second favourite in the series and they changed so much, I ended up having a hard time at points distancing the two. I understand how adaptations work (Between being a comic book/movie fan and Wheel of Time mega nerd I definitely understand) so I don't hate on the show for the changes. I just don't agree with all the one's they made and for the sake of spoilers I won't get into any of them. However, watching you guys react and doing so out of your own desires for a change of pace was fun. At moments you took it all so seriously too which was enjoyable to watch to say the least. Your reactions and follow up discussions are what make you my favourite reaction channel to this day. And while I know the show deviates a lot, those discussions you guys have are the reason I would love to see you guys one day watch the Wheel of Time series. I'm genuinely curious what theories you would end up with given that series has so much foreshadowing and threads.
I would love if you would watch Stargate even though I'm pretty sure you already did, or Warehouse 13 or Merlin. I think you would have a lot of fun with those shows.
Final Thoughts on the Season: Bridgerton is like if Disney had an Adult Channel I love Shondaland writing because they write complex humans; on any day, at any time, during any interaction, even the same interaction, with any other human, humans are kind, loving, honest, nurturing, trustworthy, etc. but also inconsiderate, cruel, manipulative, selfish, judgmental, etc.; no one always does the absolutely right thing for the absolutely right reasons and always makes the best decisions and vice versa When Eric tapped his chest, I thought, “aww, he’s got a heart chub”; that should be the benchmark for every Bridgerton season
also for the race part like having the significant other be POC I love and enjoy it sm (I’m African American 🇺🇸)! heard a rumor that it was shondaland wishes to have more POC in the show like maybe that was the deal breaker for her arrangement joining and help creating the show (lol pls don’t quote me on that I could be really wrong) but I separate tv fiction from reality so just see ppl like me involved in a monarch kind of tv period drama is just really nice and cool like other period dramas don’t have cast like that so it’s reallyyyyyyyy nice to see something different in Bridgerton.
We also know Gregory likes pranks m. I think mrs featherington does love her kids but she loves herself maybe a bit more lol. But in her defence, having money and status is going to help her kids. She has to take care of them for the time being and she needs money to do that.

Penelope is an incredible intelligent young woman that no one cares about. Eloise doesn't really listen to her. I understand where Pen is coming from. I admire her. She's a business woman, she's resourceful, she's witty, she's strong. Eloise is a sheltered girl that doesn't know the harsh realities of life, so she couldn't empathize with Pen. In the books she admires Penelope.
y'all that game they play with the mallets is actually Pall Mall-- maybe croquet's more hardcore cousin? and that other Bridgerton daughter we never see is Francesca... think there's some scandalous thing going on with casting her, and I've heard they plan to recast... (?)
F is for Francesca and she hasn't been in the show till now but she is mentioned here and there but she will be present next season because a new actress has been cast
Why does no one think that Colin said what he said about Penelope because like he told Crecida he is a disgraced Bridgerton and he wants to protect her so she doesn't get dragged down again now that her family is on top.
Because no one sees it like that. Those men are 'suitors' and Colin saying something like that is more or less scandal against Penelope as they'd probably discuss it amongst themselves and other 'suitors' which will inturn make her seem lacking since even a third son finds her unattractive and not a wife material if you will. In that time and era, you do not just say things like that as it could ruin her reputation. So perhaps he was trying to protect her reputation, but he certainly did not do it the right way.
I'm not saying Lady Featherington is a wonderful person, but you are a bit harsh on her. It has been firmly established in the show (which is loosely based on historical Regency time) that all a woman has is her marriage marketability. That's it. Lady Featherington is desperate to make sure her daughters don't starve. That means it doesn't matter what feelings they have for the men, they need to get married ASAP to secure their futures. Unfortunately, her daughters are awkward, socially inept, and unattractive. That means the only weapon she has left is manipulation. I'm just hoping that in her saying "I already have a team," she'll finally realize Penelope's worth, and recognize her as an asset instead of a liability. Even without Pen being Whistledown, the fact that Pen is such good friends with the Bridgertons is a lot more valuable than Lady F gives her credit for. Instead of seeing them as rivals, she could have them as allies. I also really wish she would figure out Pen is Whistledown. Yes, she'd be hurt about what happened with Marina and Pen's part in the scandals the family has been in, but once she has a chance to calm down, she'd realize how incredibly clever Pen is. And she'd realize that Pen COULDN'T keep their family's scandals out of the paper because it would raise suspicion. Remember last season when the Featheringtons were kicked out of the queen's garden party? Pen made a mistake in failing to mention it in the next issue. Nobody figured it out, but it was a solid clue.
I love the lack of racial issues in this show, but I also don't like that they actually pointed it out last season, saying that suddenly racism is cured because the king married a black woman (yes I know irl queen charlotte was biracial). I just feel like it opened too many plot holes to actually acknowledge it. Like, Simon's father was by far the darkest person in the show and presumably both his parents were black and their parents and so on. Lady Danbury seems older than the queen too. But black people were only allowed in Society™️ since the k&q got married so how has their families been dukes and lords for generations? And now probably close to 50% of the lords and ladies are people of color. Where did they come from? Did the king just go around handing out titles to any person of color with a little bit of money? And they were all just suddenly accepted by the white people? Did slavery ever exist? I never even considered before what America might look like right now. I think they should have just let it happen instead of trying to give a reason
