Bridgerton 3: Eloise & Phillip - First Look + Latest News 2023
We instantly fell in love with Claudia Jessie’s performance of the feminist, confident Eloise Bridgerton and many fans love the romance between Eloise and Sir Phillip Crane-played by Chris Fulton- and cannot wait to see it depicted on screen. But will the tv adaptation change their romance? Will Eloise end up with Theo instead?

Anyone else wanting Eloise’s new friendship in season 3 to be with the guy that is always bringing her places via carriage, the servant guy who is kinda cute 😂

Dec. 5, 2022 - I think Eloise's new friend will be new character Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) a young widow who will most likely come between Colin and Penelope before they get married. I am hoping Eloise does end up with Theo, they are really cute together. I have never read the Bridgerton books so, I am glad the show is not following them. I like Marina and I don't want her to die so Eloise can marry her husband.

@@patriciamassa7829 Dec. 7, 2022 Tilly Arnold will be a new character introduced in season 3. #Bridgerton book fans fail to realize that the #Netflix show Bridgerton will continue to do things their way and not follow the books. This is one reason Colin and Penelope are getting season 3 instead of Benedict. This is also the reason, I am glad I never read the books so, I won't have a preconceived idea of what, I think the Netflix Bridgerton should be. What I hear-tell of the books, they were not diverse so this means Neflix fans would not have gotten Kate Sharma and Anthony Bridgerton. Also, Penelope will not be required to lose weight as she did in the books

I think Theo was a great plot tool to add. It opened Eloise up to the idea of finding a like minded man to spend time with, perhaps even falling in love. Sure, she has her family falling in love left and right, but Theo was the first experience she had on her own in a romantic way.

I love this because it shows that some spinsters of her day didn't become so because no one had interests in them! Eloise is beautiful confident but didn't settle for what society threw at her! Yes Theo seemed like a good match because of their idealism. But he had hangups about social class as much as rich society class she belong to! In the end that along, other things would have come between them!

I think the show does a very approachable but well thought out take on modern feminism, and Eloise/Theo would be a great way to also delve into class, politics, and the 19th century literary revolution in a way that Benedict/Sophie wouldn’t and Eloise moving to the country to live with Phillip and kids definitely wouldn’t.

I've read the book, and I really like how Eloise and Philip develop their relationship. It is true that Philip at first only wanted a wife in order for someone to take care of his kids, but remember the reasons why he wanted that. First, he is a man who gives everything to make Marina happy but no matter what he did it didn't worked (Imagine you are in a marriage that no matter what you do, it felt a total bust that is just traumatic) , second there is this fear about his parenting ( I will not say too much ). When Eloise entered Philip's life Eloise didn't change at all; she still "talk too much and ask a lot of questions". If something had change it is introduced at the start of the book which is her maturity, wit and wisdom about children because "She has many siblings with a lot of nieces and nephews'' Philip on the other hand changes a lot in the process, Eloise is like this spark you can argue a fire that burns Philip's soul. He changes because of Eloise, the warmth Eloise gave to him. Philip is a man who respects Eloise for who she is. Remember there is a line in the book that "Philip needs to remind himself that this is Eloise, strong and magnificent Eloise" Philip Tiptoes when he is with Marina (book readers know why). Eloise gave him courage, Eloise made him open up about everything. Eloise made him accept that he is not his (blank). If you look at it, it has a lot of similarities to the Daphne and Simon story. It will be a beautiful story I assure you. Two souls that don't expect true love yet develop an unusual friendship. A friendship that makes them respect and honor each other equally. One needed patience to be complete and one needed acceptance in order to be fulfilled.

@jackieluna

You’re definitely not wrong. However I think the way the show has portrayed Eloise is far more different than in the books. I feel like if they were to try to recreate the story, a lot of it would have to change because Eloise in the series wouldn’t do a lot of the things Eloise in the book did. Series Eloise would rather end up a spinster than deal with a man like Phillip with how he was at the start. I think with how hopeful Marina was in season 2 when talking with Colin, it wouldn’t be accurate to have Marina do what she did in the books either. They seemed content together. I definitely don’t see the need to do away with Marina just to make Phillip single so that he may find another suitor. I really hope they make Eloise and Benedict’s seasons completely different than the books. Poor Benedict’s was merely another “Cinderella story” (boring and overdone for the eccentric and complex artist they’ve already set him up to be in the series) and Eloise deserves an exciting story where she finally breaks free from the society she was born into that she loathes (albeit grappling with the decision the entire season, rightfully so) and find her own happiness in someone SHE chooses. Even if it means scandal and struggle. It only makes the story that much more dramatic and interesting. But most importantly, it stays true to the characters they’ve already developed.

Beautifully said and I am sure this is exactly how Julia Quinn hope her readers would understand To Sir Phillip with Love', Eliose and Phillips story . A development into a deep devotion of long lasting true affection and love . Which in the Epilgoue to the book which is set again years later with the twins as young adults and with Eliose a mother of her own naturally born youngsters shows the love forever Eliose and Phillip have for each other in a highly successful marriage in every way.

Also I am just saying about this for Theo. If you read the books in Eloise mentioned her first kiss was to a boy back in her youth. Theo might not be her future husband but could easily be her first kiss. Just say that she does have a first love but something happens and it doesn’t work out ( the class structure) that end up put a wedge between their budding friends and romance. We have already see the start of it with the way lady Whistledown exposed her friends how they both respond. The story arch might be showing how she doesn’t have a normal cultural court ship at the time and more of an exploring of her own heart to get to know who she is and what she wants is Eloise is a curious mind. And is smarter than her current times would have a “lady” be. ❤ she need and ambitious stable and life where she can grow up away from the pressure of society giving her a sense of freedom. which is who Sir Philip Cran is and offers. I think Philip will be Eloise's love interest in the end. That's why they introduced him to us in S1 and brought him back for a scene in S2. By making Marina a bigger character and Philip a seemingly sweet, stand-up (albeit nerdy and plant obsessed) guy, they make him a better pairing for Show Eloise. Viewers want to see her with someone worthy of her, who will appreciate her outspokenness and willingness to delve into topics with gusto the way he does with his botany. I know people don't want Marina to die so Eloise and Philip can get together, and I get that. But maybe they'll shake it up a bit? I thought Marina was an interesting, well played character but I wouldn't exactly say I liked her. It could be they write her dying as a way of her being reunited with her true love, George.

I love Eloise and Philip in the books 💗 Probably my favourite because they showed how Eloise matured and helped Philip through his trauma and uncertainty as a father. I also think that Philip is misunderstood *spoiler* sorry for my english! 1) He sacrificed a lot for his brother's wish when he died; to marry Marina. He didn't cheat on Marina either, even though he didn't love her. (One of the reasons why Eloise fell in love with him. She saw him as a good person) Also, he blamed himself when Marina died, he didn't understand what was going on with her and wished he did so that he can help her get through it, but she didn't talk that much, she isolated herself for 8 years. When he tried to rescue her (lake scene) Marina expresses to him that she wanted to die to be happy, even the kids knew that she was happier when she's dead. 2) If you read the book carefully, you will understand that Marina knew what they were doing as husband and wife (s*x). It was their first and last time because Philip didn't think it was right, Marina didn't really cooperate, although she didn't stop him, he felt it was really wrong. He also said that she was always sad, always crying, quiet, etc. Eloise told Philip that when they were kids, Marina was quiet and always wanted to be left alone, didn't play with other kids and pretends to read a book so that no one would talk to her. (I think Marina has a mental problem since she was a kid, it became worst when she became an adult - she even had a postpartum depression which made everything worst, unfortunately, they didn't have enough knowledge of mental health back then, so they thought that she was just a sad person) So when Philip told Eloise that he failed as a husband to Marina because he never really saw her smile and laugh, Eloise told her that it's not his fault, Marina was always like that even as a kid - never laughed and smiled. 3) Philip loves his children very much, but is afraid of becoming like his father (violent), so he hired a nurse to take care of them. However, he fired the last nurse as soon as he saw her hitting the children. He felt terrible and apologized to them for not noticing it sooner. 4) Eight years of loveless marriage with Marina, he became unhappy. Then when she died, he immediately looked for a wife, not for love, but so that his children would have a mother. He just wants the best for his children and he doesn't even care if he marries an ugly woman as long as they have a mother who will take care of them. After a year, he asked Eloise if she wants to marry him, but when she comes to meet him and gets to know him for a few days (or weeks), he realizes that he really like her. At first he thought he just had to find a wife so that the children would have a mother but he fell in love and changed for her. I also find it funny that he expected Eloise to be ugly because she's a spinster, (according to her letters) but he was so shocked to see that she's pretty and wondered why she didn't marry anyone. 5) Eloise encouraged him to be a better father and praised him for the sacrifices he made for his family, even though he blamed himself for everything. That's why I love this book. Eloise matured, found love like her siblings, she learned how to be patient, healed Philip's trauma, and accepted his children 😢 even the Bridgertons love them. 6) Last, Philip love everything about Eloise. Even if she talks a lot all the time! lol

@@complikaty9740 read the books….she is challenged plenty by those hellions of kids. They are the tiny double versions of her. I think Eloise was looking for fulfilment with someone intelligent, with Phillip she gets that. I think she loved the country house growing up because of the freedom. She hated to conform for the few weeks the family moved to town for the season. In the country she could just be free. With Phillip she had that freedom. I imagine her to be blissfully happy not having to dress right, sit right, be seen to be a lady. Those children would be a joy to her. It would also be a terrible "plot twist" where Eloise learns to be content with high society and "manages to find the good in it" or whatever 🤮 The books suck. The further they can get from them, the better in my opinion. Season 1 kept the awful "forced child" scenario from the book and was rightfully criticized.

@@bernadettehayes6287 NO. Personally I hated the books, and I would have never have given them a chance if it weren't because the show captivated me. I would say the only love story I like is Francesca's. The books make the super charming Bridgerton boys mysoginistic douchebags with little to no redemption - seriously, I had to stop reading Benedict's book because I just couldn't. And Benedict is my favorite in the show. I trust Shonda will do a much better job. I mean, you can give the books a shot if you want - but having read most of them, I can confidently say they are bad. I'm not sure why this book series in particular became so popular, when the writing is so simplistic and the characters so one-dimensional. @@bernadettehayes6287 I usually don't have hard preferences of film adaptations vs books. But in this case, I'd say read the books. There's more than just the 8 books of the Bridgertons, plus Viola's novella, but also the prequels, and the Smythe-Smith Quartet which add so much to the Bridgertons' story, and is sadly completely cut out. I'd add all the Lady Whistledown novellas (of which there are 12, I think), but the only Bridgerton character you see in them is usually Lady Danbury, or the Featheringtons, and they are side characters in them. The show really screwed up the timeline with Season 2, and I sincerely worry how they are going to salvage Penelope's, Eloise's, and Francesca's stories doing it this way. Most people who don't like the books aren't generally fans of historical romance novels, I'm finding. They tend to list the standard tropes of the genre as reasons not to like the books.

Of course Kate Sharma made me fall in love pretty quickly 😍but the fact that the characters have side romances doesn't mean it will steer them away from their main relationship. We also have Benedict with Gen, which is mostly a sexual relationship, and it doesn't mean they will end up together. Something I do wonder, though, is whether Season 4 is going to be Eloise's. Honesty, the Bridgertons recover from every scandal so far since they’re rich and genuinely good people. And Penelope knows that all too well. Besides do remember that the Queen might’ve planned to get Eloise killed for suspecting that she was LW if Pen hadn’t have written about her. Better to have a bad reputation than to lose your head. Besides, Eloise and Colin were both being idiots. El shouldn’t have been running around town trying to find out who Whistledown is since she knew it was dangerous and Colin shouldn’t have proposed to Marina so quickly and foolishly. I’m not saying Penelope is innocent but neither is Eloise or Colin.

The book Eloise isn't as good as the Netflix Eloise. In the books she ended up with Philip for the reason since women couldn't freely get to know men in their society Eloise had to marry Philip her family (Anthony) made it clear because if she doesn't she'd be ruined. I remember she was disappointed with Philip before the marriage escalated quickly. Clearly Philip didn't even try with Marina in the books he was only there with her he rarely even tried to get to know her mind. There are signs Marina was depressed and didn't want to be a mother in the books it's obvious she got worse everytime she gave birth. Take note Eloise was lonely which led her to Philip and when she is having doubts she buried it immediately and tried to make things work since she's more bubbly it worked.

I think Theo was a formative influence on Eloise but Theo and Eloise being “endgame” doesn’t make sense imo. ESPECIALLY since her relationship with Phillip has the potential to push a LOT of boundaries in many ways and offers Eloise a bigger opportunity for growth as a character based on the books. Grief, disagreements, children, emotional development, going against expectations of society… Eloise and Phillip’s storyline has MUCH more potential for drama AND a redeeming HEA than Eloise and Theo.

I think with Phillip and Elloise they should do their story over a few seasons having a book told as the main story such as with season 3, and 4 and 5 say having a friendship develop through letters with Mariana with Eloise in season 3 and having her pass away in season 3 with Phillip continuing the letters throughout seasons 4 and 5 allowing Elloise time to grow up and fall in love with him through the writing ✍️ and then do season 6 all about Phillip and Elloise. Kind of how they did with Penelope's infatuation with Colin through season 1 &2 you knew they were meant for each other but loved watching it play out and now they will have their own season.

I understand the need for representation especially given how they have portrayed Bridgerton the show with other ethnicities getting to be together as couples because of Queen Charlotte but I believed it a stretch too far for either Benedict or Eloise to be other than what they were in the book series. First of all it would IMO be kind of unfair to the fans who are looking forward to Benedict's love story with his love interest from the book and the same goes for Eloise. But most importantly unless they are also going to make this brief world non homophobic which it most definitely was not in the first series considering Benedict's discovery of his friend life and what it entailed having to hide his true self from the world. The love stories of the Bridgerton child are from my understanding about finding love in unexpected ways but also being happy expressing that love openingly and joyously which would not be the case if they were in a same sex coupling. Plus if was to happen could they really be honest with their family and would their family be fine with it? I just think it would be a love they have to hide and deny which I'm not sure make for a truly happy love story.

Her ending up with Theo would be so much better than the books. She is different than in the books and keeping it the same as in the book would honestly be so disappointing and a step back for her character
