Dusty, you’ve really got to try using an outboard shaper fence. It changed my life. No more gap in between fences. Just a solid surface for your workpiece to run on.
I didn't think I would be able to afford it when I started out either. Very exciting the shop and tool collection I've been able to build over the years.
@@dustylumbercopeople who are just viewing these things often think “well I’d have a shop like that too if my daddy were rich” when you’ve worked yourself up over the years. All of this is hard earned.
I have one It's an old shaper, but it's 60s old so it's built like a brick shithouse, cost me 400 bucks on a bidspotter auction All it needed was new spindle bearings, cost like a 100 bucks and I replaced them in a couple hours
As a professional cabinet maker and wood machinist this how not to use one of these machines, this is so dangerous! No guards, no fixed fence to stop the work piece from being pulled into the cutter. You only get one pair of hands, take care of them.
The first time you did this, did you question as to whether or not you should be doing it? lol I'm not a very skittish man in the shop but it's not one. Looks awesome and scary at the same time
That's great for the .001% of the population that has access to a $4500 shaper with a $200 blade. A simple handsaw does the same job in about the same time as it took you to set that up.
