R. Brent Lyles, Executive Director of the Mountain Lion Foundation, offers brief comments about the loss of P-22, the famous mountain lion of the Hollywood Hills.
I started my day with the announcement on my local news channel that P-22 had been sent on his way to the Rainbow Bridge, and I sat down and cried. He was an amazing ambassador representing all mountain lions and how they could live peacefully among us. Run free, beautiful boy. 💖💖💖
I find the loss of P-22 very, very sad. I have been a member of the Mountain Lion Foundation for at least 15 yrs. I grew up in Hidden Valley CA and saw bobcats and the very rare mountain lion during the 50+ yrs., I lived there. Few people appreciate the wildlife that used to be even more abundant in the Conejo Valley than it is now. He was an educational ambassador for his kind and was so at his own risk! That risk finally did him in!
Thank you. I could see your pain and I appreciate you pushing through. I have all the confidence in the world with the famous San Diego Zoo and their expertise, and I'm glad they were a part of the decision. Rest in Power our King P-22!
Thank you for the kind words on P22, he will never be forgotten, let's hope he didn't die in vain and that soon that animal crossing will be saving more lions and other animals from P22's fate.
