Phathisa Nyathi was part of the Imbizo gathering of Ndebele people in Gaborone in 2017 and he gave an explicit history of Ndebeles trying to link it with Highlanders.
We did honor him and he shed tears as it was the first time he was honored we can collaborate as different groupings and arrange a big event and honor him...
I do not understand Sindebele, so I do not grasp what Pathisa is saying here. But I have listened to his historical accounts in English language, and I am also aware that he has written several books on history and culture. He is passionate in his work and has generated and preserved valuable knowledge. I also agree that he deserves and honorary doctorate from Zimbabwean University-but alas, I know those tend to be given more for political considerations and perceptions that genuine merit.
@@frankkhethanidubedube919 which is the truth. They were led by a non Zulu known as mzilikazi Khumalo. Who left his people ndwadwe behind while fleeing shaka
This is really great especially for those shallow-minded who preach tribalism about Shona this, Ndebele that....this is one gentleman without cheap bias.
I was in South Africa on the 16th of july 2021 I'm disappointed of how I was treated in Alberton passport office by 4 xhosa ladies they treated me like I was filthy being called a Zimbabwean but in a very rude and nasty way and it was a pity coz I couldn't say nothing I was treated like I stole my South African documents but that's not the case my stepfather was South African he adopted me and my siblings I was 2 at the time .but anyway I pray for those people coz we're one
Our African leaders are letting us down .. I refuse to be called south African.. I call myself African. .. sorry for that , coz our brothers and sisters are not informed well...
@@frankkhethanidubedube919 yebo thank that's very true .guess my brother is called Frank too my ex mother inlaw is Dube wow . Yah Bless you my brother we are 1 🙌
It would be a good idea to put subtitles in Ndebele and in other languages so that Ndebele history becomes more attention. It is a valuable heritage to share with other human beings and it will create more understanding of the culture and mindset of Ndebele people. Of course, thia task is only for Ndebele people because you are the protectors and the ones that impart your own history, culture and tradition.
2017 remains to be one of my best years as Organizing secretary of this non political traditional society... we invited Highlanders legends like Madinda Ndlovu Alexander Maseko, Lawrence Phiri, Berry Daka, Peter Nkomo, we also Honored IYASA group as well. ISIZWE ESINGELA MASIKO SIFILE.... our culture defines who we are.
Beautiful! He knows his story, his history and heritage. I thought the Bulawayo name was taken from the Zulu Kingdom as Mzilikazi, we Zulu people, know him to have been one on King Shaka's palamentarians. And the Kingdom was situated in Bulawayo. So my question is, did the Ndebele people fight and war when they got to the current settlement? Another question, why does it seem like the Mpumalanga Ndebele's are completely different and unrelated to you. The language is different, and there's no mention of them in your history. But, this is very interesting I must say.
Whites were the ones who named them Matabele and later known as Ndebele but most Ndebele trace their history from kzn. According to accounts while mzilikazi was running away from impisi zika Shaka ka Senzangakhona he went kidnapping Ndebeles from Mpumalanga, Swatis, Tswanas etc. Just do research.
@@kagimanye1757 no they are not zulus they amaNdebele, they are mixed with swatis's ,tswana, sotho's, pedis, ndebele's from SA, kalanga's ,lozwi, you cannot find those groups here in KZN , which means genetically they are not zulus, even their language is different as they added words from groups that joined them.
@@kagimanye1757 kuhle ukuthi sihloniphane asikho isidingo sokubizana ngamagama , What's utter rubbish it is recorded facts in history books that when mzilikazi left kzn he combined many nations to form isizwe samandebele , you find surnames like phiri , mhlanga, mabhena, moyo ,banda, those surnames are not zulu surnames which means they were assimilated to the growing ndebele's those people are linguistically and genetically not zulus, why are you insisting that they are zulus still Mzilikazi himself was zulu but along the way he added non zulus even non nguni's to the group,
Bab'Mchunu you are correct that uMzilikazi wasuka eKZN and assimilated other tribes on his way to the present day location in Zimbabwe but can I correct you on the Phiris and Bandas, they are from Malawi. Mzilikazi's people were tagged with the name Ndebele after their short sojourn with the Mpumalanga Ndebele where Mzilikazi moved from the present day Pretoria after killing the then Ndebele King Sibindi and "kidnapping" a substantial number of people and moved northwards to present day Zimbabwe.
Please mr nyathi can we.have.the English sub title of these important ndebele. History it is enlightening we are tired of history from the European view
All of you who are proud of this old man I ask myself. How right is he about abakaKhumalo. Please go and look at Mzilikazis photo in old age and compare it to Kelly
@@akadare1 not what I meant but I no worries I get you I didn't watch all of it but I can summarise it for you if you want. I still stand by my point though that it was not made for non ndebele speaking people. There's not so many people that are interested in ndebele history let alone history itself other than the ndebele themselves and other similar nguni groups all over southern afrika and judging by the fact that not one single person in the crowd asked for translations it's clear that everyone in the crowd was ndebele or could understand isindebele

Why really are we wasting so much time just to create a nation out of a nickname ... honestly ? Simple call yourselves Zulus ... Proudly Zulu . I don't mean to offend anyone.. if Mzilikazi a King Shaka were brothers ,it's Simple one bloodline (ZULUS)
@@mkhokheligandarry1431 if u know how Zulus name came by ... ? U might view this from a different view .. Zulus were there... It’s actually abangoni meaning the ones don’t sin, white people couldn’t pronounce Abangoni so they called us Abanguni which is a wrong word. They also gave us the word Ingelosi trying to say Idlozi
