Brief Political History of Catalonia 

This video explores the history of Catalonia and looks to see how it ended up as part of Spain while maintaining a strong sense of distinctiveness. It begins with the first people, traces its path as a Roman colony, its high point as a medieval kingdom and its union with Castille. It continues with the development of Catalan nationalism, its difficult years during the Franco regime, and why in recent times its government and population have sought independence from Spain at different points despite its increasing prosperity.
