This entire album is so raw and emotional. As someone who grew up and lives in the Midwest, this has been my number one fall season album for years. It fits so perfect driving/biking around on a crisp sunny fall day.
A while ago, I moved downtown with a friend of mine, and lived there for a few months. This song perfectly describes those nights. We'd drink all day and roam around at night, going from burrito joint to burrito joint, it's was probably one of the strangest times in my life. And this song fits so perfectly.
Oh god, Conor has an amazing ability to make me cry. His voice is so filled with emotion and so raw that it always makes me stop and feel entirely different.
I had a ten minute dream in the passenger's seat with this album playing. It was a rainy night in early spring. It was the beginning and the end. We haven't spoken in years, and it does feel like a lifetime.
No, definitely agreed. His voice is so raw in this song, since I heard this, I stopped listening to the other. Because you just..stop paying attention to how it sounds, and you listen to the lyrics, it's the most calming thing ever.
saw him perform live a few times in southern California back in the mid 2000's.....had all these albums.....he played an amazing acoustic in San Diego back in 2005, drove up to Santa Barbara to see him in the rain. Those were the days.....
Read Icculus!! This was a great time for Bright Eyes.... totally hitting the pinnacle, as a songwriter and performer, that you hope you can reach one day. Thanks so much for this great content. It must be preserved for future generations!
+Julián Esteban Avila Perdomo Hey guys I actually have this whole performance on my computer. It actually should still be on here from where I got it on.
Wow,this is a well written song if ever there was.Hugs to everyone that tried to deal a heatbreak with sedation.live and learn.its okay to cry it into a p.b.s. shot instead.
i was going to an MVB concert in detroit and i got there like 5 hrs early and him and nate were just standing outside and i went up to talk to them and conor just gave me a hug. then we talked about random crap like coffee and travel. then when i walked away i realized i didnt get a picture and i turned around and they were getting into a tour bus.
Does anybody know how come Conor always gets interviewed alone? I mean, they are a band. So how come Mike Mogis isn't in the all the interviews? Is it just the way he (mike) preferes it? I'm just curious :)
I guess I'm the only one who thinks this version is better! He sounds more vulnerable, and I like the way he handles himself without the female harmonizing.
I saw Bright Eyes last night. They were amazing! Is he performing in Austin, Tx? It looks like the state capital and the UT tower are in the background.
A yellow bird is symbolic of a love that you'll always love (like a soulmate) no matter what. Maybe ironic since Conor writes so many songs about lovers.
I heard his brother either had problems with alcoholism or died from it and so his bro is his yellow bird, since he's drinking his face off not learning from it. That would also work with the mine safety idea since his brother walked that path before him and found the danger first.
+Gavin McNair In the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, the yellow bird is also a literary reference, and it represents the main character, Siddhartha, leaving the prison of Samsara, which is a place in the book that represents the static or senseless cycle of everyday life.
