Mate, I’ve been following you for years and you taught me my first chess moves. I’m blown away by how well you are doing in this gm journey in terms of how good you play but even more how you coop with losses. But I hope the last thing you will do is be influenced by comment negativity. These people are trash at chess compared to you and they’re a bunch of nobodies watching a youtube video for free. Please don’t try to prove them wrong because it gives them worth. Keep on fighting big dog! Get that GM title for once and for all!

Over the board chess is something extraordinary. The losses hurt harder and the wins you will have will feel amazing. I remember my worst OTB game was a crushing game, a brilliant sacrifice, I calculated a line to checkmate, said checkmate to my opponent ...and then my queen was captured. It's not like online chess when you checkmate you see the win screen, sometimes your hopes die after you embarrassingly say checkmate in real life.

My worst one was when I was sick, actually. I was vomitting, coughing, and just generally in bad shape the entire 3.5 hrs. The only reason I stayed was with the help of about 3 cups of coffee to stimulate myself into thinking. It was against a higher-rated player, and pretty tough at that. Near the end, I had about 30 mins and they had 5. I offered a draw, they declined. It was a drawn position actually, but you needed to play accurately. It just so happened that the people besides me were too annoyed by my sickness that we were told to change boards, completely shattering my concentration. I made a blunder right after, losing the game on the spot.

I'm like 500 ELO, but I really enjoy your videos, and I've played pretty high level sports for most of my life. I know this tournament has been a rough start, but that's all it is. Just a rough start. Even if the entire tournament goes like this, it'll just be a tough tournament and a good learning experience. No great success comes without some detours through Tough Loss City. It's tough to do in the moment, but if you can take things one game at a time and pull some positive momentum out of your remaining games, the tournament will have been worth your while. I'm sorry the comments section always sucks after a loss, hopefully it doesn't deter you from posting your recaps anyway. I think the passion you bring to them is a great motivator for other people in similar situations.

I have never commented on anything I’ve always been a silent viewer, however I couldn’t help but comment. I never once ever thought about playing chess and especially not viewing it for entertainment until I saw one of your videos. 29:58 Well, I thought "I can't believe he didn't take h6" either but not for all the reasons Levy gave, more so because of the checklist of checks, captures and threats. I mean, taking the bishop satisfies 2 of those so I thought it was the correct move for that reason. But then again, when he played the knight move I figured that it is one of those circumstances where you can break that rule when you get better at chess.

1:07 Bro even Hikaru advised you to expand your repertoire..... Editing my comment before I get pinned or anything, Levy, I've been your subscriber for 2-3 years now. Since I was 400 elo and could hardly grasp what was going on the chess board, because of you and some other great creaters I'm a 1200 now and am hitting for 2000 pretty soon. I'm still no-one to advise you which opening you should pick or how dumb you played, I'm still someone who hangs my queen quite often. But the point is that we really want to see you become a GM... @@SnipeyGaming I know he has nothing to do with Levy but he did advice him and his coaches to expand his repertoire during a video covering up his game which ended in a draw against a 2200. He was much better but that isn't an excuse to keep playing a single opening your whole life and allow your opponents to thoroughly prepare against you. I know I'm no-one to advise Levy, we have around 1000 points of elo difference but Hikaru certainly is someone significant to listen to. I'm not saying Caro Kann is bad as that's my own favourite opening and that's the opening I play nowadays as black but what I mean is that at my level (1200) there aren't many players with thorough preparation against it and they don't know I'm gonna play it until I do but Levy's opponent's do have both the advantages.
