May 8 -- "Brilliant Ideas" looks at the most exciting and acclaimed artists at work in the world today. On this episode, British artist Grayson Perry talks to Bloomberg about his life and work.
We were given Grayson Perry as an artist to study in art this year, and I struggled to find my ideas in my head as I couldn’t find how I related to the artist, but after watching this video, and seeing the true extent of his art shine through his personality I find myself more in awe of him than I was before. I understand his art a little more now and he is truly amazing.
How long are obviously fabricated comments such as these going to fool the idiots of the world? What’s that?? You think I’m being a “bully”??? Go ahead. Pick any RU-vid video. Read the first 10 comments, repeat… At the end of the day, look me in the eye, and tell me you didn’t notice a pattern. You couldn’t ask for a better example of why democracy is a terrible idea for a population as betarded as humanity. I suppose it’s our own fault for letting the mentally feeble vote. Fun fact: It’s those same mentally feeble voters who are currently casting their democratic gift of a vote in favour of ending democracy. Wrap your head around _that_ paradox!
Grayson is clever and honest person who I find inspiring. I visited his exhibition in Bristol and left with a grin on my face and an admiration for what he does. So. much modern art leaves me cold or questioning whether there is some pretence occurring. He is brilliantly honest about his like of dressing up.
I am a big fan of unusual artists who have fun with art & poke fun at the stodginess of the fine art world. Thank you a million times for profiling Grayson Perry!
I don't want to generalize but I think most ( not all) artists are a bit odd... its what makes them unique . I love Grayson's art along with his brilliant ideas and all his wonderful stories. Very intriguing.
Awesome quote: "I banned cliched words like passionate, spiritual and profound" Cultural commentator Sarfraz Manzoor remarks: "He reaches people in profound ways" 17:09 Grayson is just awesome Sarfraz, let's just leave it there, ok?
I’m almost 100% certain this guys entire MO was to make just enough art to become famous enough to be interviewed, all so he could get that absurd haircut and wear it on camera. His entire life up to now has been one giant performance piece, leading up to this moment.
so fascinating: person, ideas, art, thoughts...Art is the only thing that can save the world....personal regrets: did not start art journey - making, living- earlier.....not too much time left.....
@@angiecook4016 Thank you! It is not...but it is.....I did start my journey, btw, but I do not have at least 30 years: to learn, to develop, to fail, to start over, to become rich and famous.....this is it...
@@marielemen It does. He's saying that things many of us think are original have already been made or tried before, we just don't remember or try to learn from the past.
he is fascninating to listen to. You cant do any of that in London anymore. Give it another 10 years and london will be like one giant top hat floating in the ocean that no one can get to becuase its too sodding expensive.
Its truly work that catches experiences that means something to the artist - the choice of themes and style seem to be very true and honest - and that is truly a cantillation of life = unpredictable coming from “chinise whispers” - very interesting indeed
Uhh, Warhol did alot his work himself and inspired an entire empire including making a record label for the Velvet Underground and inspiring the likes of Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe, Keith Haring, etc. Calling Andy Warhol a twat is calling almost every artist that came after him a twat, including Grayson Perry.
The child is the meaning of this life. The child is the moon, your body is Jupiter(mercy),your heart the four great Jupiter moons. I cannot teach you HOW to be a son (nobody wants to be 'the son'...)
His painting on pots is his gimmick ,like his dressing grotesquely as a women is his gimmick ,his actual drawing and painting style copying photos is pretty ordinary .
Doppe1ganger you make me smile, I can’t be mad at you, maybe one day you’”ll realize... it’s art , not engineering where you can make a documentary on feynman ... by contrast the artist is inseparable from his art, it ‘s continuous not to mean that he can’t give interviews to a certain extent but his art will suffer and get tainted if he talks about it too much and objectifies it.. .Anyways the issue is subtle- like explaining a color to a color blind dog -not worthy to be explained over here and i’m not jealous , but very jealous :p !
What are you babbling about 😂 You allow yourself to be condescending towards an artist because he's talking in a documentary? I'll let you in on a little secret, I even get where you're coming from because I once thought like you, more simplistic then I think now that is, confusing a sort of misguided sense of puritanical pride with being a "real artist". This was after i was a child, before i was an adult. You're pubescent my friend. 😉
