same here at 75 years old, I saw them in concert about 8 years ago or so, and it was BRILLIANT! I have this album and it reminds me of my Junior year at Kent State University in 1967. I went with a friend one weekend, to an off campus student apartment that a bunch of his friends were gathering to listen to this album together. I think there were about 20 of us there. It was such a memorable experience hearing it together for the first time. Hardly anyone said a sound during the album and especially during "NIGHTS AND WHITE SATIN" That memory has stayed with me since then, I can picture that room and all of us listening in my mind every time I hear this. "Those were the days....."

Nights in White Satin was released in 1967, wayyyyy ahead of its time. Moody blues brought orchestral arrangements into rock music. I think they were the first rock band to perform that fusion (as far as I know). Nights in White Satin came from Moody Blues second album, Days of Future Past (1967). The entire album was ahead of its time. Another hit from that album is Tuesday Afternoon.

Great reaction to one of the most beautiful songs ever! This came out in 1967, but didn't become a big hit until 1972, my senior year in high school. So many memories tied to this song. Justin Hayward, the lead singer, wrote this when he was 19. If you get a chance, listen to the longer version, with The Lament poem read at the end. The live version at the Royal Albert Hall in London with full orchestra is absolutely amazing.

Yes, this band is definitely worth diving into. They had a string of maybe 6 or 8 absolutely masterful albums. This entire album is brilliant. It came out in 1967 and is considered the first progressive rock album. It meshed orchestration with rock music for maybe the first time, it was also a rock opera and a concept album.

Epic! "Nights In White Satin" was one of those songs that radio dj's back in the day would play late at night to enhance the mystery vibe exuding from every note, the shimmering intensity that builds as the song progresses to the final crescendo. The album version segues into this monologue that ties the song into a larger concept. When you're ready for more from The Moody Blues check out "Question", "Tuesday Afternoon", and "Ride My See-Saw" among many others.

This is a groundbreaking all time classic song with a quickly gathered orchestra that was only made because the band lied to the record company to what they were creating. This song and album transcended music at that time.

This song is from their album "Days of Future Passed". You actually only got half the impact in my opinion by missing the instrumental and spoken word piece that immediately follows "Nights In White Satin" called "Late Lament". They were recorded such that they would be taken as final movement of a suite. One of a small handful of albums that I recommend every rock and roll fan to listen to in it's entirely. It's really that good!💯🤘

The Moody Blues were a phenomenal band and were one of the seminal progressive rock bands. They adopted the Mellotron (mostly playing symphonic strings) as part of their basic sound. They released 7 fantastic albums between 1967--Days of Future Passed (the album from which this song comes) and 1972--Seventh Sojourn. All of their albums are concept albums and were cut gapless with each song leading into the next. Check out "Dawn: Dawn is a Feeling," "Ride My See-Saw," "Legend of a Mind," "Voices In the Sky," Visions of Paradise," "Dear Diary," "Never Comes the Day," "Are You Sitting Comfortably," "Eyes of a Child," "Gypsy," "Watching and Waiting," "Question," "Melancholy Man," "Isn't Life Strange," "I'm Just a Singer (In a Rock and Roll Band)" for starters
